You said yourself that you're playing on veteran, so you haven't exhausted every option. Go down to rookie. If it's too easy, bump those sliders down that you had maxed out.

Re: Flame me if you want but...
I am thoroughly disgusted at this point with the hitting in this game.I want to love this game because it is so great in many areas but holy crap the hitting is beyond frustrating. I have been playing this series for 5 yrs now. I play on veteran with the red sox. I have upped my timing all the way up, contact up 1, cpu pitching down almost all the way, lowered the pitch speed all the way. Still horrible. Oh I am getting hits, about 8-10 /game. A walk or two /game as well. I have a good batters eye, striking out around 7-8 times /game. Strike to ball ratio is around 60/40%.I am thumping the ball hard, line drives, a ton of them, usually right at somebody. I just finished up the 5th game today with Boston and no HR's at all even though I am wacking the hell out of the ball. I don't know what else to do but it shouldnt be this freaking hard to score runs.In those 5 games I have scored a total of 1 run in each game. Any help would be appreciated.I have tried everything.I am patient at the plate taking alot of pitches.I am hitting the ball fine, but not a homer in 5 games , come on. Ok Im done with the rant.
I bet you wish you were hitting .480 with 300 home runs don't you.Comment

Re: Flame me if you want but...
I'm about half way through Spring training and won 1 game lol. i Play on all star with zone hitting and PP. Thing is i haven't been crushed when i've lost, quite the opposite but i've been tweaking with the sliders here and there. My game last night went 7-5 in my favour vs The mets (im the tigers). 14 hits against 13 with a couple of homers, i hit a 2 run homer in the top of the 10th then held out in the bottom to clinch only my 2nd win of spring training but boys was it worth the wait!
I love this game and started playing it in 09. Knew diddly squat about baseball back then (im from the UK) but now im an avid follower of the sport and whilst im not an expert i understand the facets of hitting and try to manage my bullpen appropriately to maintain confidence and control over my pitches when im on defense.Comment

Re: Flame me if you want but...
from my experience in the past rookie was way too easy.I am trying to find a happy medium here.I am hitting the ball fine, just seems like most are hard hit liners to an outfielder or right at an infielder. I don't care much about alot of hr's but 5 games without one from Boston is a little odd. I will check the slider forum but for veteran difficulty the hhitting is too hard.I could understand it if I were playing on the higher levels but not veteran. I will keep trying because the game otherwise is amazing. Thanks for the tips.Comment

Re: Flame me if you want but...
Yeah before getting frustrated, I'd lower the difficulty level and see how you fare and work your way up.
I think the devs are making a big mistake by naming different difficulty levels as Rookie to Legend, implying that one is dumbed down while others are for more hardcore audience. Basically playing on "Rookie" makes you feel like you are a noob even if you've been playing the franchise for years.
This has a negative effect on gamer's self esteem.
What they should do, instead, is to name those like "Professional", "President", "Executive," "VIP", or something along that line, so people can still feel important.Comment

Re: Flame me if you want but...
Im not having a problem hitting HR in this game. I started my season and im through 19 games and im currently 3rd in HR as a team with my Phillies.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o

I play in All Star with zone hitting and I only increased the contact and solid hitting by +1.... and decreased the CPU Pitch Speed by -2.<o></o

Re: Flame me if you want but...
I can't wait for April 5th.
And just so I'm not completely off topic, it seems to me sometimes that on default sliders, my BABIP may be a little too low. My 1st game, I didn't strike out once. Put 28 balls in play, 27 of them for outs. Obviously that sample size is way too small, but I get frustrated sometimes with how many balls the defense in this game turns into outs.Comment

Secondly, this isn't even a flame-worthy post.
Anyway, it doesn't seem like hitting is the problem, not numbers-wise anyway. Your issues is more with homeruns, yet you didn't touch the power slider? Also, fielding sliders could be adjusted if you feel there are too many "at em" balls.

Re: Flame me if you want but...
In order to hit online you have to guess WRONG and swing earlier. Hitting a 100mph fastball is almost impossible unless you completely guess on it and swing way too early.
This is just my online experience so far and I was #2 in XP points at one point, I haven't played as much as the online hitting is too frustrating. I've also played about 10-15 endless games that went 0-0 or 1-1 and nobody could get a hit let alone score a run.
Right now online the only way to score really is to either get hit with the ball and steal, get walked, or wait for throwing errors.
The average ONLINE hits/gm is certainly not accurate or reflective of real baseball. People's online averages shouldn't be .120 to .180. Realistic or not (which it's not) it simply isn't fun.
I'm batting .150 after 60+ games online. I think I should know how to make decent contact with the ball, but I still don't know.Last edited by mondoguitar; 03-13-2012, 10:56 AM.Comment

Re: Flame me if you want but...
It's very confusing to me that on this site the devs are saying hitting is reflective of real life, but then on their official game site, they are saying the following:
Originally posted by Russell_05Short term solution to help improve batting avg. and raise ERA's <hr style="color:#cccccc;" size="1"> Until we (disclaimer: there is no guarantee there will be a patch) have a patch ready for deployment this is a stopgap solution to improving your batting avg. online.
Go to user settings in the menu and scroll down to "Online Challenge Settings" and Change the Hitting difficulty to Veteran and the Pitching difficulty to Hall of Fame. Do this for both the "Game Room" and "Play Now" options.
We changed the default pitching and hitting difficulty for DD this morning to the above settings and we have already seen the medium batting avg. and ERA 's both go up. However do to the new Play Now Plus we don't force users to play with a shared difficulty anymore we match you up based on preferences.
We know this is not ideal, but it should help you hit better online until a more permanent option has been decided upon.
As always Thx for your support and patience while we work through these issues.
To be fair this quote was posted in the ONLINE section... so if only the online hitting is affected, he should've made that clear in this thread as well. As I've said, I haven't played offline modes yet, so if people in this thread are talking purely offline, I can't comment on that. If we're talking online opinions, I have more than enough games to give a fair assessment IMO.
When making posts regarding the hitting difficulty of this game, they really need to be clear about which mode they are talking about because online is a different animal where there is latency that needs to be taken into consideration as well.
