Foolish of me thinking someone who makes video game rosters could be mature. My interpretation is different than yours, not wrong. Don't try to pass your opinion as fact. I'm seeing something and apparently I'm not the only one.

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I just don't see it in this year's game and older iterations of the game for that matter. For me, it doesn't exist. Yeah there are games where the CPU comes back but it doesn't happen consistently. I try to pitch smarter later in the games and more often than not, if i don't miss my locations, I tend to win the game and prevent the CPU from coming back. I don't see this happening as much as some people say. I also play on All star default for both hitting and pitching.PSN: ckarlic

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Let's put it this way:
10 wins...3 (yes 3!) saves.
I'm seeing blowouts consistently, on both sides. Way more than any year prior (not that I saw comebacks too often previously either). By any chance have you reduced the Consistency slider?Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 04-12-2012, 05:04 PM.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Actually....it's not my opinion.
I think you've been around here long enough to know that SCEA...the developers of the game have stated that there is no comeback code or any scripted events in the game.(I will say that there are certain animations that will trigger events you know will happen...pickoffs being one)...but I've asked Brian and he has said that even those are not predetermined ...but at the time of the decision to make that play...the animation is triggered.
and.....I like how you are trying to call me out as stating my opinion as fact.....but you state something as fact and call it opinion!
Nice!

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Just in case this sort of discussion happens, I did some testing this year:
MLB the Show: Is There Late-Inning Comeback?
Now I don't think there's any sort of comeback, i.e., something "turns on" once you are winning in late innings, etc.
But if a bunch of CPU vs. CPU games are any indication, it does indicate it can be indeed quite a bit challenging to make bullpen decisions in late innings, no matter if you are winning or not. You tend to remember when you blow your lead, but not when you are losing and end up being a blowout win for your opponent (just because the former is a more emotional experience for you).
It's just relievers in this game aren't as effective as starters.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Pad...people hear Ya bro...this is one of many reason I stop playing the game. It's not just the CPU randomness it is the randomness I feel happens throughout this game. U will hear that randomness is baseball... but the show takes it to a whole new level. So simply put I play the 2 other baseball games...Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
Actually, this year feels like the first year that the comeback isn't overblown-- which most of us long ago learned to accept is just the cpu playing way harder and smarter once it's down.
But that's probably just because the offense is weaker on both sides this year, and yes, this is something a lot of people have noticed. Hey, when many people are saying the same exact thing, there's usually SOMETHING to it.
I've had blowout games here and there, but most games turn into pitching duels (based on a sample size of about 20 games played). In 3 straight games with the Mets, I mustered only 3 hits in each game! I've been playing since 07, I know what I'm doing. For better or worse, offense is definitely lighter this year.Comment

Re: Something Has Definitely Changed with The Show This Year
I've had a blast with this game since '08, but this year I can't figure it out. I've tried Armor and Swords sliders (both straight All Star and the hybrid with Vet hitting), the perfect HOF sliders and everything in between. The bottom line is that there is just no offense for me or the CPU. I'm drawing walks, but hitting rockets right at people. My franchise batting avg. through 7 games is about .185, but my ERA is about 2.70, so I'm 3-4. I'm really at a loss.
I am hitting doubles down line, over the OFer's head, triple and HRs. I am unfortunately not drawing walks, but that is on me. If I get the count to 2-0 and its a FSB, I am trying to do damage...
Try the default sliders with All-Star pitching and VET hitting. I having a blast!Comment
