            Re: Da Astros

When you guys sign players to contracts at the end of the year do you sign some to long term cheap contracts (prospects is mostly what I'm referring to) or do you try and stick to some kind of real contracts? I'm about to hit the off season tasks and get into my new season so I was just curious.

For example in a previous franchise I signed Singleton to a 10 year 20million dollar contract or 25 million something like that. Is that cheesy or just taking advantage of a young kid who has no idea .. or fair game because god knows what he would require after 5-6 years of progression..

Yea you are telling me it was hideous.. it was hard to watch even though I was simming haha. Had I played to a record like that I would probably retire from baseball video games. I was quite surprised by Castro's power numbers, and rather disappointed with J.D.

To be honest I don't know what to do at a couple positions for year two. Previously Singleton was MLB ready after one year, but with the hit his ratings took in the new rosters he isn't even close. Even with max progression (I think) after one year he is worse than he started at in the old rosters I was using.

Wallace is not capable of being a two-year stopgap at worst huh? and what other positions are u iffy about?

Yea I mean with a 60 million dollar budget its rough. Especially with the largest budget increase you can get is something like 10% or something isn't it?

so we're talking increasing the budget by 6 million to start out with .. ouch. I think I'll continue signing players to long term deals.. its not like the short term deals for vets are cheap or anything lol..

Well he is going to have to be I guess. The thing is I don't even know if another year at max progression would get Singleton to MLB level. Here are some current attributes of his to show you what I mean..

                      RT Contact - 44
                      LT Contact - 38
                      RT Power - 46
                      LT Power - 24

So if the max progression is 6 (I think I could be wrong).. it is going to take him a long time to reach the level he was after one year with previous rosters.

His numbers in the opening day roster were as follows..

                      RT Contact 72
                      LT Contact 66
                      RT Power 59
                      LT Power 51

I'm not saying those are right either I just think he took a big big hit.. and I don't really think it was warranted. He is hitting .273 this year in real life with 13HR and 52RBI in 86 games..

i dont know the exact number but i dont even think it's 10% if u win the WS....yeah for all the top prospects, 10 years/25M sounds great......it's the veterans/fringe players who scare me

those ratings dont look very promising at all.....my goal is for Opening Day 2013 to start Singleton...jus gotta hope Wallace can hold down the fort a bit longer if necessary

I hear ya.. I don't think he'll be starting opening day 2013 unless you edit him to be honest. I think Correa could be the starter in 2013 with where his numbers start. His contact and power base for scott's rosters are higher than Singleton after one year progression (for all contact and power numbers).

nah im not gunna touch any ratings...if it takes Singleton a bit longer, so be it....last thing i wanna do is get antsy and rush him up when he's not ready..i've always been a Wallace supporter anyway....perfect situation for him to show what he can do for a full year then move him to 3B if/when Singleton is ready....For Correa, imma let him marinate in the minors till at least 2014 (hopefully)....gunna try to keep him at both minor league levels for a year each and see how it goes

I hear ya. Messing with ratings would kind of nullify why I decided to use these rosters in the first place. I also don't plan to put Correa in the Majors in 2013 unless something crazy happens like a couple MLB injuries added with him hitting .350 or something.

I'm currently going through the first off season.. the first one takes forever lol.. so many people to sign.
