Re: Less fun than 11?
When the game first came out, I too struggled with hitting and finding a good difficulty to play on as some people have mentioned. However, as I have played the game more I have gotten better and am really enjoying the game. I can't stop playing it!!!Edmonton Oilers Fan

Re: Less fun than 11?
Not even close IMO. The ball physics alone make it impossible for me to ever go back to another version. The gameplay on the field this year is just absolutely incredible.Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
12 is giving me the best console baseball game experience I have ever had.
In my last 10 games I have struggled big time to generate offense. My pitching has been pretty superb but my bats have failed me. 3-7 in my last ten. It has me thinking, tweaking lineups with some cold guys, and also making me work and generate runs with SB's, sac's and hit and runs.
The game is unpredictable day to day.
That is baseball at it's finest.
I am sure I will rip off a great month...I can feel it. My team will break out any moment....or will I continue to struggle? That is what keeps me coming back every day to play another game. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Less fun than 11?
I'm loving this game, but while new ball physics meant new hit variety, it didn't really add to it at all. I think they still have much more work to do there to help increase that "fun factor." I also feel like I have less control of my defense this year.
But is it fun? I've already played 120 games in my franchise. Oh yeah, it's fun.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
I agree that 11 was better. Sorry to say it, but the ball physics are worse this year. I thought they'd be better - and maybe they are as far as what kind of contact you make given where the ball is pitched, timing, etc... but once the ball is in play the physics are screwed up. Balls die constantly going down either line, the timing on hits to the outfield make it very hard to get doubles when they SHOULD be stand-up doubles. Also, the outfielder throws in to the infield are not as good as last year... which is really too bad.
It's still plenty of fun, but the things I just mentioned have made the fun a little less enjoyable. If I wasn't so lazy I'd try to locate some updated rosters for 2011 and go back to that.Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
I think 12 is a lot more fun overall, than any other version. In the beginning, I was getting beat badly by the CPU, but over the first month I've been able to adjust (thru practice). I am at a happy medium now, playing HoF, with just a few fielding/throwing slider changes.
The variety of scores, plays, hits are very good. And not to mention the scoring on hits/errors (that could go either way) just seem to be right this year. In my franchise I've won a game 10-0, and I've lost 0-8. I've had comebacks by the CPU, and comebacks by me. I've won 1-0 (opening day) and lost 1-0 to KC on a 16th inning walk-off by Hosmer. One thing I noticed also, into the 1st week on May, and Verlander is only 1-1 for me with a 2.3X ERA, and Valverde has a blown save. So there has been lots of variety. Playing with Detroit, I also feel that I am never really out of a game, as long as I focus. I swept Seattle in a series last week, and I was down in 2 of the games 0-3 (won 8-3) and 0-5 (won 7-6 in extra innings), respectively. I'm not sure if the CPU was claiming comeback code or not- another thing is, we haven't been scoring on HRs alone, it's definitely been manufactured runs on both sides.
Basically, I'm having a blast so far.
Here are the highlights from one of the Seattle games. You can see, all but 2 of the runs were manufactured:

Re: Less fun than 11?
It took me a little while to accept that this wasnt 11, once I did I began to have alot more fun with 12 than I had ever had in 11. Using the TNK Realism Slider set on All-Star hitting and HOF Pitching Im having a great time in my season and in DD. Love Love Love 12, it will be the last one I buy for at least 2 years.Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
I'll preface this by saying it was fun.......At the moment I'm not playing, waiting for some word on the patch issue, and if I'm forced to start over I'm waiting until I can once again play between the PS3 and Vita.
That out of the way......I've actually had the opposite experience.
11' was virtually unplayable to me.
I must have started over a dozen franchises and tried every slider set out there and could not find a suitable setting. Hitting was brutal. I'd get all 2-1 type games, or it would be a home run fest. I played hundred of games testing everything, never finding a medium and then eventually giving up.
12' so far has been light years better.
I was like 27 games through my Franchise and outside of wishing I had a few more Homers and a few less doubles, all of my numbers and results were super realistic.Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
I see 12 better than 11 except for one important aspect of the game, auto base running. In 11, the CPU would steal for you, not in 12. Since the CPU/AI causes base runners to make silly mistakes in 12, as it did in 11, I wouldn't have a problem if that happened with auto base running as long as I got an occasional steal. As it is now, Kemp and Gordon have no steals and that is to me quite disturbing. Before anyone suggests I go manual for auto base running, I chose auto base running for a reason. Too bad they took out CPU stealing for the User in 12.Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
I like it a lot better than 11, mainly because of the pitching & analog controls. I know some people will like to grab pitch forks for me saying this, but last year 2K was just more fun to me because I enjoyed the controls so much better. Hooked up a 360 controller to my PC and I was good to go.
This year the Show, while still quirky here and there, has kept my attention because I'm not wanting to throw the controller across the room. And I'm digging the pulse pitching as well.
Some updates to the Franchise mode, (along with seeing all the stats at some point), and I wouldn't need another baseball game for a long time (other than OOTP, which is not a baseball game, but something that I think is somehow related to crack, because I'm pretty sure I need an intervention).Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
As a whole I like the new ball physics, but sometimes it feels like the ball reacts like a rubber bounce ball on cement. Two examples I could think of are when it fouls off home plate, or when it hits near the warning track and flies up into the stands.Comment

Re: Less fun than 11?
IMO, the ball physics are overdone. And I believe is the main culprit with my not so fun experience. Maybe next year they will have improved the physics.Comment
