Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
I don't care if the graphics are the same form MLB 08 the Show.
If MLB 13 The Show were available on the PS2, I would run to the Sony San Diego Studios and get down on my knees and kiss the feet of every person that works on the game.
And I wouldn't have to spend those $290 on the PS3.Sent from my NSA Approved DeviceComment

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
This is going to be a long-winded post from me and hopefully I will have a chance to play MLB 13 The Show, but even if I won't get the opportunity too, at least I can give my two cents. All RTTS-related items can be found in the thread created by Kirby_SCEA
Gameplay - Hitting
SpoilerI'll be honest it really is tough to find faults with hitting, you either have to nitpick or you have to temper your expectations on what should be realistic or what should be fully up to the user.
Every year since MLB 09 The ShowI believe, hitting has been more about the players ratings rather than the users input, which in turn leads to slumps and hot streaks along with a much more realistic game. However, this also leads to players becoming frustrated with the "perfect timing, superb contact" resulting in anything other than a line-drive or a home run. Now that happens in baseball, but to appease to these type of players who want their input to mean more when it comes to hitting, perhaps making the difficulties under Rookie and Veteran rely more on user input than it already is, then starting from All-Star and above more so to ratings.
Also, I would hope more user foul-offs would be out of play or at least less pop-ups.
Gameplay - Pitching
SpoilerI strictly play under the classic meter pitching. First and foremost, I'll put it out there that I'm a huge supporter for the pitcher confidence and individual pitch confidence meter in this game and I absolutely love the new confidence meter for this game. The game itself is much more forgiving with your individual pitches, especially the good old number 1 (which in past iterations you literally had to throw it about 80% of the time, nearly all for strikes or it'll be a mediocre offering).
However, against the AI I would like to see less discipline from hitters with average or worse discipline (so more aggressive cuts out of the zone on pitches that don't need to be set up) and more swing-through cuts (on both sides actually, for the user and the AI). I find that on my own personal experience with this game, that the amount of foul-offs by both sides is just about right (except I feel like because of user input the user him/herself ends up getting into more foul outs because of pop-ups foul).
Franchise
SpoilerEvery year I keep hoping for an overhaul and while it's good, there are just some things limiting it from being great. First off, I'm aware that SCEA tests the rosters for transactions and to check if things end up as unexpected, such as the free agency problem in years past and the amount trades involving top prospects. However, each year we see top prospects traded at an absurd amount and that's moreso because of the number of A-potential prospects in the custom rosters in comparison to the significantly lower number of A-potential prospects in the default rosters. I hope it's possible for the team or for the community guys to test out next year's game for trades with about 35 or so A potential prospects on the roster and see how many are traded, as that's possibly the amount of A-potential prospects that may be in next year's OSFM, give or take a few.
Now for the draft, it's gotten better, but we still see players being drafted in the first round with F-potential and a really high overall. This needs to change and I would hope teams would make it a priority to draft on a combination of potential and overall rather than just overall for the amateur draft.
CAPS
SpoilerWe've seen some minor additions to how you can customize and create-a-player in this year with the addition of compression sleeves, more sunglasses, different hat styles, different batting gloves, different shoes, etc. The textures on the player also has improved over the years.
A few additions I'm hoping for in next year's game is more hairstyles (a longer hair style, like Yu Darvish's hair), different hair colors (dirty blond, dark brown, etc.), and hopefully loose 3/4 sleeves kind of like the one Khalil Greene had.
Player Types/Tendencies
SpoilerProgression and potential may be tied to this, but I'm hoping for different types of player tendencies, related to the player's toolset. For example:
Position Player:
Power
Hitting
Speed
Fielding
Arm
You could get 5-Tool, All-Around (4 of the tools), Offensive (Power and Hitting), Power, Contact, Speedster, and Defensive (Fielding and Arm). A 5-Tooler tendency would progress in all ratings but speed. Offensive would progress more on offensive ratings, Defensive would progress more on defensive ratings, speedster would progress in contact, bunting, baserunning, and defensive ratings, and so on.
Pitchers is where it gets a little tricky. I'd like to see a system where young pitchers start off with a decent to great primary offering, and then if their secondary offering develops or not (i.e. control and movement for pitches 2-5), it determines whether the pitcher is a starter or reliever. Then if the pitcher can improve their Stamina and /9 ratings, that will determine what role they have, ranging from long reliever to ace for starting pitchers and fringe reliever to closer for relievers. So if you have to A potential starters, their careers could progress differently in that Starter A's secondary pitches improve and he stays in the rotation, and Starter B's /9 ratings improve but his secondary offerings don't improve, leading him to be more of a relief pitcher.Comment

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
Crowd noise: The crowd only reacts to the result of the play. They never react at the right time. For example, in real life, a crowd will get excited for any well hit ball no matter if it’s hit right at a defender. In the game the crowd waits to see if the ball drops to even cheer or cheers once a run scores.
Stance Editor: Give us the option to edit a one handed or 2 handed follow throughs for batting stances (would be great to have more options like open or close a certain stance, add leg kicks etc. but sure that wouldn't be easy).
New Closer animation: Would love to have longer and more dramatic animation for closers entrances from the pen, 9th inning, a one run game, the music hits the stadium speakers, bullpen door comes open, and closer comes running in from the outfield with the crowd going crazy.
Editing: It would be nice when choosing stances in the editing screen if we could see them simulate a swing as they would in the game. This would make it easier to pick a stance if we’re looking for a specific quality. Same goes for pitching motions.

Things I would go ballistic for:
- Expansion Mode
- Better Scouting System [think NCAA]
- Ability to argue calls
- Playoff/World Series/Tournament Mode
- Better Commentary
- ABILITY TO TRANSFER FRANCHISE/SEASON/EXPANSION MODE OVER TO THE NEXT GAME
- Better looking fans

Remove fielders "cheating" by increasing speed to close down balls.
Allow CAPs and other players to be transferable from this year's game to next, it would save so much time and effort with OSFM and with creating classic players.
Allow editing of 1H or 2H finish on a swing, or at least list which swings have which on the edit screen.May 6, 1998: 9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K
Thanks to all that helped with the Baltimore Orioles roster, and to N51_rob for making me an OS premium member.

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
I would love to see a tendency slider inputed. I like to play with auto fielding to get some of those animations you cant get fast enough with manual, and i often have my fields dive for balls that real players would never go far. These usually result in triples because the ball got past a went to the fence. If they go add an tendency slider to set how aggressive your fielders were it would be awesome!Comment

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
MORE CLASSIC UNIS (EXPOS)...I know your hands are tied here. However, why not give us the ability to create our own unis. I have NO idea why we can create a team unis and all online but not offline. This is quite silly if you ask me. No one is going to play Show online as awful as lag is. The numbers speak for themselves. Much like player share, we could have team share and even uni share. Team share would be SWEET for classic roster makers such as myself. Also, how about some more hair already? How come we don't ever get guys dos like Lincecum and such. An Afro style would be awesome too. Give some 70s, 80s, and 90s players some good dos (mullets are a MUST...so many stars of the last generation rocked the mullet, afro, or just longer hair in general. This should also be an option. Aside from this, the game is stellar.
I love ryans ideas. The more creativity the better.
For my season I would like to pick 16 classic teams only. I would choose not to use the expantion teams in my season. This would put my season back in time before the 60's. This would be offered as a option with the normal number of season games.
It would allow another option for roster guys and would allow us to consentrate our focus on the old teams 400 players not 800 players and roster makers could actually have a chance to start a season. "Play Ball"
This wouldn't stop anyone from making rosters from any time period
it's an option.
I build classic rosters ( "BigKlu"in the Player Vault ) and it takes time but I love It!. Please
figure out how to import our teams to the next years game.
Offer an extra option of shorter stirrups and baggy uniforms plus a batting helmet with no ear flaps.
Show a little oil in the pocket of our gloves. The color of the gloves
needs to have a slight transparent orange tone.
If I choose the Dodgers to be my team let me put them back in Brooklyn.
Let me put the Braves back in Milwaukee or the Athletics back in Kansas
City and the Giants back in New York. Add the uniforms and comentary to match.

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne
A few little things...
1) upgrade the fan base with kids, people of all body types
of different ages add a few Veterans etc. It would feel more
real. Show interaction between fans and venders...Toss a bag of
peanuts to a kid...
2) option on the ring around the bat. with out the ring you could have
two tone or single tone bats. please think about it...
3) might be a lost art but a "place hitter" who chokes up on the bat would be cool...
so please add an option to choke up on the bat...
4) if there's a way to make the gloves look broken in please
do it. they are beautiful but look a little stiff.
5) would it be possible to add Canada's and the U.S. National Anthems?
thanks,
