I really think that where the Show succeeds others fail.

The more control and ability to edit/customize/and bring back memories the more people will enjoy it.

The Show truly let's you customize the feel of the game and how you want to play it. If you want to relive your youth you have the ability to use old rosters. If you want to play as a general manager and progress certain players through your system you can do that too. If you want to make yourself and live out your own dream you can do that as well.

I believe if The Show were to allow more options with rosters (import from one year to the next) customizable leagues, old stadiums and the ability to create uniforms or expansion teams nothing would ever be able to touch it.

Other games like Madden 13 for example although fun to play, take more control away from the user each year. In Madden 13 you can't even edit players, little own forget about a "roster vault," heck not even importing draft classes.

What The Show gets is that people do not want to be told what they can and can't do in a game. It's a fantasy/dream/time occupier/escape all rolled into one. Let's face it the reason we play baseball on a tv screen is that most of us at one point or another have been told you are not good enough to play anymore. It's really the only way to still play the game you grew up playing.

This is why The Show succeeds and others fail, they continue to put more control in the users hands and not take it away. Keep it up, I enjoy trying to relive my youth 40 minutes a night after I get home from work for 12 hours and before I have to take out the trash!

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne

I love the franchise mode. I play all 162 games for multiple seasons but there are some things I would like to see fixed/changed/added.

      1) Tighter budgets for teams, It's too easy to make money and have it available to spend on multiple stadium, coach, scout, player upgrades.

2)Scouting needs a big upgrade. Simply picking guys and having their scouting report unlocked is boring. Maybe having to run players through miny drills, ie. hitting, fielding, pitching etc to unlock more information about them.

      2) a. Scouting reports need a big fix. With young players they are always talked poorly about because their ratings are low. They should say something different and perhaps more positive based on their age. Also potential is really the only thing you have to pay attention to if you want to know who to draft or not. It shouldn't be this predictable.

      2) b. Young players/ prospects should have more variation to their stats. Also some certain stats should be close to maxed out depending on their age.

      3) The addition of rainouts with subsequent double headers would be a nice touch to the game. Then maybe with a team day off you can choose to rest players, maybe run them through extra drills, b.p. etc, to give a short boost in stats for the next game or two.

      4) The ability to negotiate contracts mid-season.

I would like to see players fall if they collide instead of just dodging each other.

How about throws that pull the 1st baseman off the bag and a swipe tag attempt?

These would all be great additions to franchise mode.
I would love to see these.

          If I might add

1.Instead of tighter budgets....I'm much rather be able to edit budgets....both to start the franchise and any time during it. Both payroll and team accessory budgets. I'd also like to see payroll only include player salaries.

          2. I think you mean ratings....and yes....I agree. But more than that...I'd like to see the rates of the different ratings progress much differently for each attribute. For instance...my LF is a power hitting prospect but K's a lot and doesn't hit that well for average. I'd like to see his power ratings grow by 10-15 for a few years but his contact by 2-3 ...and his vision/disc the same or drop a few points. Fielding should only progress if I put training time into it...and speed should be constant until it eventually declines.(baserunning instinct can always progress though...either on it's own or if I as the manager put training time into it.)
ALL of these should have some sort of variable for it NOT to work or to even regress. It SHOULD NOT be a given due to potential. I understand why it's that way now....I just hope it changes

          3. From what I gather.....I don't think rainouts are a top list priority for the team....I'd like to see them...but I don't think we will.

          4. DEFINITELY ....it adds a bit of strategy to franchise mode.

Finally....scouting....and the way WE see player ratings outside of the editor.
There needs to be a "fog of war" built in. I really don't want to know the true rating of a player. I don't want my scouts or coaches to always be right about them either. I want to have a reason to fire my scout...look for a new one....same with coaches......and I want to eventually evaluate the player on my own....HOW?...by his performance.
If my scout and my coach are both telling me..."this guy can't miss" ...but he hits .220 with 5 homers for 3 straight seasons. YOU'RE FIRED!...and sorry Player X, but McDonald's is your new employer.

Oh..and if I screw up as GM...I want the owner to tell me I'M FIRED.(or not offered a new contract)
That should be put back in!

I'd love to see the Online League customization options make their way into offline Season and Franchise modes.

My only issue with the current short season option is that you can't choose the amount of teams, alignment, series setup, and season length (months).

What I'd love to be able to do is have a 10 to 30 game season played in 3-game series, spread out over 6 months with 10 or 15 teams. You can make all of this happen with the online leagues, but not offline.

Re: What Does MLB 13 The Show Need to do Next Year to Satisfy Your Baseball Gaming Ne

I mainly play franchise mode so most of the changes I'll list will be for that mode

-Please fix the trade ai logic of the computer. I keep seeing players like Pujols, Cano, Trout, and Strasburg on the trading block. I also keep seeing teams trade away young talent like Mike Trout or Anthony Rizzo for an aging veteran at the same position. Teams do not do this often yet it happens all the time.

-I think the contracts you can have players accept is not realistic. I was just looking at my contract offers and I was able to sign David Wright to an extension for around 5 million a year. He would get a lot more than that in real life. I also see players like Josh Hamilton signing a 2 year extension when he would get a lot more. Maybe have a varying "market value"? Like if one computer team overpays for a pitcher, other pitcher's prices will go up hoping to match that pitcher received. This would help to make the differences between big and small market teams more realistic

-Have the ability to sign players to extensions mid-season

-Have the ability to trade more than 3 players at a time. Also be able to trade cash like in real life as well as three team (or more) trades

-Implement 10 and 5 status with players and the deadlines for when they can be traded. All-Star baseball 2005 had both of these and I enjoyed them. I don't like the fact that I can sign a guy in the off-season and immediately trade him

-As others have said, have varying ratings progression for each players. Have some A rated prospects fail but have some D succeed. It would be a nice addition

-Have players play out their contract. I don't like signing a guy to a multiyear deal and then have them retire after the first year. ESPN NFL 2K5 had a feature where you could talk players out of retirement and I think that would be a nice feature

-Have the ability to invite players to spring training without putting them on the 40 man roster

-Have the computer give you counter proposals from time to time for trades

                -Top 100 prospect list

-Have teams wearing their team's jersey in the all-star game (if its possible, it might not be)

-Have stuff like MVPs, Cy Youngs, silver sluggers, gold gloves, increase the asking price of players

-Allow us to pick a custom song for a player's at-bat or bullpen entrance music (we might already be able to do already this I don't quite remember)

-Allow players to play in rehab games while on the DL

                Non-franchise mode changes

-Fix R.A. Dickey's knuckleball. Either increase the speed limit of the pitch or make a "Hard knuckleball" pitch that is exclusive to him

-Add more realism and life to the crowd. If the team is in a playoff race or is in the playoffs, have the crowds be louder and more into the game. If there's a runner on second and there a base hit to the outfield, have the crowd start cheering immediately. If you decide to take a pitcher out who is pitching well, have the crowd boo your manager, that sorta thing

-Improve the throwing animations. Too often the computer hits a routine ground ball to the shortstop and the runner is safe because the animation takes too long

-Have the option to slide step with a runner on base. All-Star Baseball 2005 let you do this by holding the x button when you pitched. It could be implemented similarly in the show

-Let you argue calls with the umps and have your manager thrown out. MVP Baseball 2005 had this and I'm surprised the Show hasn't implemented it yet

-I may be alone in this but in Road to the Show, I feel like having the option to watch every pitch of the game would be nice, even if you're not playing or involved in the current play

I don't expect all of these to be implemented, but if they were, the game would be perfect

I really hope something is done with the commentary, some new voices and better interaction would allow me to have a more complete experience. Also the pickoffs to 1st and the base stealing mechanics being improved would provide for better gameplay.

How about not have the computer play the bounces off the wall perfectly every time?

Definitely agree on a more realistic crowd.

How about showing crowds leaving if it's a blowout? I don't think the attendance thing is that realistic.

As for GM firings, it should only be an option. It always annoyed me when you could be fired from your job without the option of immunity, but some people may want those goals at the beginning of the year to actually mean something. You know; maybe Nolan Ryan's sick of JD eating all of his giant chili dogs and tells him to win a World Series within two years or he's replacing him with Rangers Captain (the mascot). Certainly not the most likely scenario, but you probably get the general premise.

Totally agree. It's funny because it seems like every single year a double header has a huge impact on a playoff race. I remember back in 09 the Twins and Tigers were dueling for the final two weeks of the season for the division title. The Twins and Tigers had a double header scheduled on the monday of the final week of the season. Sure enough the Twins won both games and needless to say they went to game 163 and the Twins won. It's just an example of how rainouts/double headers can come back later in the season. It just would help make franchise mode that much better. No question there are a lot of moving parts to adding this in, but I have full confidence SCEA could do it.
