Pretty much, no matter how many runs I score, the CPU scores either one less or one more. Usually when either myself or the CPU makes a comeback, there are errors that help the comeback out. This morning I was up 8-3 in the 9th inning. 4 errors later the game was tied.

Same thing happens to me. It takes me so many pitches/hits to get 2-3 runs, and the following inning, the AI scores 1-2 runs in like 6-7 pitches(despite not doing anything for every inning before then,they just suddenly wake up the second I score).

Just gave up 4 runs and lost the game. Thing that sucks is how they got bases loaded from like 6 pitches, and then the next guy hits a ball off the 1st base bag and it basically turns into a pop fly to the OF, so it's basically a bases clearing double from a ball that obviously shouldn't have done something like that.

I can't believe this thread hasn't been closed yet. I've never seen threads get closed faster on any other site than this one.

That said, my 2 cents...

I don't have near the degree of frustration as the OP, but something definitely happens in this game, in my experiences, when either I or the CPU goes up by 4+ runs.

If the CPU goes up by 4, his pitcher starts falling behind more and I start getting fatter pitches to hit and drawing more walks. The chances of him making an error goes up as well.

Likewise, when I go up by 4 or more my pitches start finding the middle of the plate more no matter if I hit my timing perfectly, and my fielders chances of making an error go up.

I need to go back and check my schedule, but I can't remember any games in my current franchise where I have been blown out or I have blown out the CPU.

Again, this is just my opinion from what I have seen from playing my franchise.

this is the EXACT reason why I gave up on this series after 2010. I actually did tests to see if it were true. I would go up by 5 in a frsnchise game using the phillies against a low rated team (pirates) . I would have Hamels pitching against their 5th starter. anyways when i went up by 5 i would save mid game.... I went on to play 30 or so games using the midgame save. well all of a sudden the cpu would hit much better abd hamels all of a sudden stunk. in 30 plus games....I didnt win by a blowout. the cpu would get 2 runs here and there and make it close.

I still won most of the times but the way it happened was unnatural. not only did my putcher get worse it was also that much harder to get hits.

sad that this isue is still seen by others playing 2012.

I will then finish out the game.

I'll send you the file and you can do your multiple game tests.

I'll post my results(with pics) and according to some of you.....it should be the same as what you guys will post what happens.

I must play a different game to some guys.

My last 3 games, all wins (in fact ive won 4 in a row) have been 6-2, 8-2 and 7-3, the 7 runs all coming in the 8th inning when i put 8 hits together.

In none of those games did the CPU even threaten to come back, but had they, so what, thats baseball, i obviously pitched well and smart enough to shut them down.

I dont see this one lasting much longer sadly, people just cant resist.

you dont have to agree with me that is fine but I just commented on how another poster saw the same things that I saw with the 4 runs lead or trail. Why do you feel the need to ridicule and be sarcastic?

If you dont see the things I and the other poster described good for you and enjoy the game. No one is trying to convince you otherwise. But don 't get upset about it. It 's just a videogame.

I guarantee you they wont some leave that pitcher in the game one pitch too long or are not using mound visits correctly and pitcher matchups its okay to walk a batter. Dont get me started on the defensive assignments a majority of the community does not utilize correctly.

So by scripted or predetermined I don't mean it in a negative way, it definitely happens both ways (rapid regression towards the mean; I've also induced my share of double plays after a couple of borderline walks as well) and even I may feel victim to the sample size issue I've alluded to earlier, maybe I DON'T strike the next guy out on three pitches after a "cheap" homerun, but it sure seems like I do most of the time.

I am a Dodgers fan and you are obviously a Giants fan, so you know we are not going to agree. J/K

I can understand you saying it's not a negative thing because it happens for both you and the CPU. However, I feel more inclined to consider scripted/predetermined to be a negative thing by virtue of what it means. No matter what we think the reason for this or that happens, there isn't any real proof. When I say real proof, I mean hard evidence that would hold up in a courtroom filled with jurors from this site :wink:

No, seriously, you wouldn't be able to convince a jury beyond a shadow of a doubt the game is scripted or predetermined. But, you are certainly entitled to believe whatever you want, even if you are a Giants fan.

I really wish there was a way to prove a theory, but I believe in sample size and playing one file where everyone uses the same rosters and makes the same defensive adjustments, makes the same exact pitches with the exact same execution will still yield widely different results.

At least in my opinion, there's no comeback AI, it's more up front about it

Sorry guys.

We didn't allow this thread for awhile and it was going good but we went too far down the road with backhanded slaps at each other and this isn't going to get better from here.

Edit: This is NOT directed at anyone in particular. After re-reading the last couple pages, I just don't see much reason to leave it open any longer because I think it would cause more harm than good.
