Re: Those get up and yell moments...
Playing the O's last night. Trailing all game. Finally tie it at 5 in the 8th.
Bottom of the 9th, Freeman gets a lead-off double. Moves to third on a fly ball to right. I bring in Pastornicky to pinch run. Diaz, pinch hitting, walks. I decide I'm going to try a suicide squeeze with Bourn at the plate, but on the second pitch. The CPU apparently read my mind, because it pitched out on the first pitch.
So on the second pitch, I drop down the bunt - a tad too hard. The 1B comes up throwing, but Pastornicky slides in under the tag. That's mine.Comment

down 1 run with runners on 2nd and 3rd, bottom of the 8th with 2 outs. i work a full count, then foul off a few so he's thrown at least 10 pitches. then i take a fastball that is DEFINITELY a ball and the umpire calls it a strike... i ended up losing the game... i punched at least 5 baby giraffes that night.Cardinals

Re: Those get up and yell moments...
This game is getting real annoying. Why can't I ever lose normally!
If I win, it's either a blowout, or a good game. If I lose, it's cause the CPU gets all these cheap moments to win.
3 groundballs that were all balls hit,all directly long the 1B or 3B line for the AI. In another inning, I change my pitcher. And the first 3 pitches my reliever throws...double(scores a run).....double(scores a run).....double(scores a run).
I looked at mine vs AIs hit chart and all my hits are mid-upper part of strike zone. All AIs hits are middle-lower strike zone. All my double plays are mid-low strike zone. So how is it that the AI can get hit after hit after hit after hit in areas that I'd 99% ground into double plays.
And why are so many of my strikes thrown directly down the middle, despite the fact that I aim out of the strike zone, and the analog meter flashes yellow(meaning it was a good-perfect timing on the pitch)Comment

Re: Those get up and yell moments...
Playing a Spring Game...Astros (me) vs Phillies
So I get a great start from Jordan Lyles, he dominated...going 4 innings of shutout baseball, only giving up 1 hit and striking out 7. Weiland pitches a good 2 innings, Galarraga pitches a perfect 7th, Rodriguez pitches a perfect 8th and in the 8th, Chris Snyder hits a dinger to put us up 1-0. So we hand the ball to Brett Myers. Myers proceeds to walk the bases loaded, get two strikeouts, and give up a walkoff homer to the pitcher. I don't know why the Phils didn't pinch hit for the pitcher, maybe because it's spring?
Either way...I screamed many profanities lol.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

Re: Those get up and yell moments...
What's with my runnings being so slow? A normal ball hit in the gap in the OF, and by time the CF gets the ball, my guy NOW gets to 1B. So I can't even get a double if that's the case. Yet if the other team does that exact same hit, they get into 2B without even a throw.
On another note...that's now 4 straight games where my teams let up like 4+ runs in the 7th. This game, my fielder had an easy fly ball, but he somehow doesn't know how to put his glove above his head, so it was ground rule double. My next fielder can't field a ground ball properly.....Then my pitcher decides to let up a home run afterwards.Last edited by Majingir; 06-25-2012, 02:14 PM.Comment

One reason why I really hope in MLB13, they have separate sliders for the AI and User on ALL categories.Comment

So it looks like the thread that has went from talking about the hills and valleys of baseball moments to another of those welcomed "comeback code" threads...such a damned shame.Originally posted by theenginePlus, there are lots of illiterate Pro Bowlers. Just ask Chad Johnson....Comment

Re: Those get up and yell moments...
late-ish in a game, let's say 7th inning, Toronto at Angels (me), I've got a good lead, 6-2 or so, but they get a rally going, and there are runners on 1st and 3rd w one out. Starter is tiring, but I've got guys in the bullpen, ready to go, starter CJ Wilson gets one more batter, and then I take him out if he gives up a hit or run, so he doesn't take the loss and I can kill the rally. So, runner on 3rd is one of the Jays young catchers (Arencibia?), and the batter is... want to say Lawrie, anyway, RH, some power. Wanting the dp, I go low, low, low, but he works the count, and man, I can't walk Lawrie, I think Joey Bats was on deck... so its 3-2, I have to throw a fastball, but I manage to throw one to the high outside corner.... Lawrie hits it well, but it's slicing... oh no, I think, Vladdy's in right, he's a hundred years old, oh no, please go foul... ball slices foul, but... Vlad, apparently forgetting it's not 2002, perfectly surrounds the ball (I use auto field, but I throw, with no meter), charges, is in perfect position, throws a one-hop seed to David Ross, who tags Arencibia out a good five feet up the line from home, and I am up out of my chair, chest bumping with vladdy, telling him I knew the old guy had at least one good cannon shot in him... really, other than a few homers, I'm only carrying the guy because he was on the roster when I picked the Angels up; I won't have him on the 2014 Angels. But there it was, one perfect, Vlad moment, you could almost see his little ai brain WANTING that play to happen, catcher on 3rd, come on, let me show off this arm one more time....
So there you go, a good, positive, get up and yell moment. Feel-good story, Vladdy makes one more great, highlight reel throw, and reminds us, for a moment, what greatness looks like.Comment

Re: Those get up and yell moments...
To all those that want to post in this thread, please keep things like the following OUT: The latest instance in which you feel the CPU cheated you; How all the sudden you can't hit/pitch because of the A.I.; CPU always scores on me right after I score; Errors always come at the wrong time; etc...
This thread is also not for tips/discussion on hitting, pitching, fielding, or sliders. We have more than enough discussion threads on the boards already covering those areas of the game.
Let's keep this thread about those "Get up and yell moments" when you are playing the game - both good & bad that we all have just like when we are watching our favorite teams play. You see my avatar... take a guess on what the majority of my moments are... both real and in The Show.
Thanks guysLast edited by RGmoney; 06-26-2012, 10:20 AM.Comment

Re: Those get up and yell moments...
I had a good moment yesterday in my Astros franchise. It was the 2nd game of the regular season and I had just lost the 1st one 6-2 behind Brett Myers giving up 2, 2-R HRs
But the 2nd game of the season was Bud Norris vs Jeremy Guthrie and it was a pitching duel through and through. Both starters pitched extremely well, Norris went 7 strong, allowing 1 run and striking out 8 and Guthrie actually pitched into the 9th inning with a 1-0 lead. That's when things got interesting, my #8 hitter Travis Buck leads off the inning with a single and then I pinch run for him with Jordan Schafer. Schafer steals 2nd base and the pinch hitting Chris Johnson advances him to 3rd. Jose Altuve tied the game with a SAC fly.
Fast forward to the bottom of the 12th inning, Jose Altuve leads off with a single. He gets moved to 2nd and 3rd after outs made by my 2 and 3 hitters. So in strides Carlos Lee, who wasn't having a good day. They bring in Rex Brothers to pitch to him and it was a battle. Brothers throws strike one, Carlos hits a long foul HR to make the count 0-2. Carlos proceeded to work the count back to 3-2 and after a 12 pitch AB, he hits the ball right back to Brothers. The ball caroms off Brother's leg but he has the time to collect himself and throw the runner out. However, Brothers rushes his throw and airmails it 10 feet over Helton's head...Astros win on the walkoff error!Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

It's not a stand up and yell but it was a quiet "Oh My God". My AA rtts 1b hit a ball over the scoreboard at JM Field against the Bay Bears.

Re: Those get up and yell moments...
Lately I have been trying to go for the platinum trophy which involved beating the yankees on legend settings for that gold trophy (can't recall name). The first try I had a 3 run lead early on a Josh Hamilton homer (was using the Rangers), but that got crushed pretty quick. Second game I am down 6-0 in the 4th *quit*
Third try it is a close game throughout with me up 4-3 in the top of the ninth with two outs. I leave Darvish in because he has pitched great. Solo home run just over the wall by Granderson. Next batter an Absolute BOMB to center by Cano. *lowers head in disgust*. However then comes the bottom of the 9th when I lead off the inning with a home run down the line. Next batter (I believe Kinsler who had two solo shots in the game) Hits a double and advances to third on a throwing error. I'm getting really excited at this point... Sub in somebody off the bench and take out Napoli.. squeeze bunt to get the runner in .. start jumping around saying **** you Boone Logan (who had been pitching obviously)..
2 trophies at once.. thats always nice.
Ahh those exciting moments.. My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts.
