Buttons for me ... for now.

Last year I used Analog for pitching and throwing, but felt like it was really hard to throw balls out of the strike zone. I do like the mechanic, though.

Tried hitting but not a huge fan of having to press up and to the right or left. If they had Analog meshed with Timing (ratings and stride timing dictate PCI placement), I'd probably use it.

No, actually you can't. If you set your settings to Timing and go online -- it will go to zone.

Well, I play my franchise on timing -- but my leagues and online play I use Zone Plus Analog or Zone, so I'll take this one.

What I normally do, if I don't have an idea where the pitch is going to be, is to choose either high or low, or one side of the plate. I find trying to start from a neutral-stick position and move to the ball is extremely difficult, and I am not a person who has trouble catching up on pitches.

Personally, I usually will pick what side of the plate I think the pitch will come to, and set the PCI on that corner of the plate, but leave the stick neutral as far as high or low. That enables me to look for only half the plate, and still have a little freedom to adjust up or down quickly if I wish. If I "set up" outside, I don't swing at pitches on the inner half of the plate.

I do recommend, especially if you are just learning how to hit with the PCI (moving from Timing, or Pure Analog) that you use Zone first, before thinking of going Zone Plus. The additional stuff that has to be done right, like getting a perfect stride, will take away from you focusing on your PCI...at least at first.

                    Hope this helps.

Pure analog for both, although it is harder.

Buttons all the way. Always been, always will.

Fielding: They are configured in a diamond pattern on the controller. Why would you really seriously consider anything else. Analog was a disaster last year. Lasted one game with me.

Hitting: Best, most realistic in terms of results and the least frustrating (it IS a game, after all. Should be fun). Zone with PCI on all-star.

Pitching: Metered you can hump up, take a little off, whatever. Classic not bad. Not quite got the analog meter from last year; pulse this year gives me a headache.

Despite what professional reviewers clamor for every year, different for different's sake is not always better, kids.

Been playing this way since The Show 2009. I used to hit with timed zone, and field myself but found this set-up to be really more simulation like taking the clunkiness of fielding out, and the PCI movement out and letting the player ratings be the driving force.

It is a pleasure to play the game this way. Loads of fun, it looks awesome and the stress of trying to field is gone but doing all the throws keeps me very involved. I could field myself, but I found too many clunky things happening that got me really frustrated long term and I play this game year round.

Agreed. I do like Pulse Pitching, but I feel like it's too easy. I'm just not getting many walks.
