Might be a dumb question, but in franchise can you still fully edit players?

With the new regression system and other new additions I'm curious if you can just edit players at will still. I typically only do this if I have an old roster and a player ends up being a lot better or worse, like Heath Bell for example since the whole point of playing franchise to me is building up a team. Its no fun if your team is stacked to me.

I have a question, or maybe an idea if it's not already included in this years game. But what about veteran presence in the club house for instance Scott Rolen last year for the Reds helping out Todd Frazier who is now the starter at third. Think there could be any way of this in the future having good and bad presences of players in the clubhouse. Maybe a rookie such as Frazier last year potential can actually raise a little since he had Rolen to help him out and visa versa with bad influences in the clubhouse.

Knight, are generated players equipment, hair, facial hair, pitch types, etc. better this year? As in not seeing players without batting gloves, a lot of players having dreads, a lot of pitchers with a knuckleball, etc.

I don't think this will ever happen. Think about it. Some guys would get label as "bad" by a video game. The Players Association would never allow a that kind of dig at a guy, nor should they. I definitely see where you are coming from and it would be a useful thing, but I don't see any good way to do it.

Yeah...I don't think they would do it for any negative ones.
They might do it for the positive or neutral ones...

I just read the blog explaining the new team values concepts, and I am so excited to get my hands on this game and dive into Franchise mode. Once Knight's rosters are available though of course.

Are there some night time Spring Training games in Franchise mode this year? Or are they all still 1pm?

You have a shared payroll. So lets say the Braves start with 100million. If You only invest 5 million in all of your coaches and scouts(they will be bad) then you have 95 available for player payroll. If you are winning the budget goes up. if you lose the budget goes down.

I think the top tier players should demand a little more, but I feel the system as a whole is markedly better.

I took a team at one point that was small market and after renewals and arbitration could not sign any free agents because my budget was too tight.
Wait, so I'm confused here. Judging from screenshots I thought that you basically had two budgets: one for player salaries and a pooled one for personnel/scouting/development. Say I have $45 million in payroll commitments with a $60 million budget; could I take some of that remaining $15 million to augment my personnel budget and hire a crack team of elite scouts?

If so, do personnel have guaranteed contracts? Like, if I was just a little over budget and had a star player hitting free agency could I fire an expensive scout to free up cash?

Your budget is now covering both the players and manager/coaches/scouts.

As of CD...there was no penalty for firing a m/c/s with salary being tied no matter what.
We said it should be so you couldn't cheap out.
We'll see if they "guaranteed" that money.

Is it possible to trade and trade for compensation draft picks in Franchise as per the new CBA?

Baseball has never and currently still does not allow the trading of draft picks. In real life players are not eligible to be traded until one year after being drafted. That is why baseball has player to be named later in trades.

I can't get my link to work, but it's allowed. The Tigers and Marlins traded picks on July 23rd.

Unlike in the NFL, NBA and NHL, Major League Baseball doesn't allow its teams to trade their draft choices.

If you mean this.. no. .. only certain picks and teams can trade and a lot of complexities. There is no competitive balance picks in the game, so not trading those. I forgot they added any trading and the competitive balance picks.

Yes, those are the picks I was talking about. I'm not surprised it isn't in the game. It seems awful complicated. Maybe they can work it out on the PS4 but it is really just a small detail.
