Very nice. I loved the part where you refer to Lindsay lohan as a he.

If he is playing baseball now, then six degrees of Kevin Bacon just got a lot more interesting...

With scouting are the reports going to be better detailed? In the past everything about them had negative reviews except for potential. Players were compared to the rest of the MLB so all prospects were considered slow, weak, feeble defensively, poor contact, etc. on the scouting report player cards.

Has the award logic been tweaked at all this year? I know some of you mentioned that gold gloves have received attention, but what about MVP and Cy Young? The logic for Cy Young voting in particular is terrible. Most of the time whatever pitchers gets the most wins gets the Cy Young and barely any attention is payed to ERA and other more meaningful stats. I mean even the real life voters are coming around to the idea that pitcher wins are a useless method of evaluating performance. I've seen guys with ERAs in the 3.60s and above win the Cy just because they won 20 games. The MVP's don't seem to be as bad, and largely reflect how real life voters would vote (IE, focusing only on the triple crown stats and ignoring everything else) so the question there comes down to whether you want to award the MVP to the player who deserves it or the one would be most likely to win it in real life. Baseball Mogul, for example has a wide array of advanced statistics (including WAR) but the awards still tend to weight stats that voters would be more likely to look at. Frankly I'd be happy with either arrangement.

While we're on the subject of advanced stats, have any been added/removed/changed this time around. Very few of the stats included in last years game are still used (go on Fangraphs and see if they mention Hoban Efficiency Quotient), and while it would probably be too much to ask for WAR (I would imagine that being very complicated) there are a few stats that could be added like wOBA or WRC+ for hitters and maybe ERA+ or FIP for pitchers.

Another thin I'd to see is the removal of CP as a position. Just merge it into RP. There is nothing really special that separates a closer from a normal reliever and it leads to the AI making really stupid decisions over who should close out their games.

Zero pretentiousness here, just an fyi. Search the thread when there's this many pages. A lot of the time a subject has been covered.

How is the balance of ratings say 5+ years in franchise? Are there too many "star" players? Too little? I am very excited for this years game. Just hoping there isn't too many stars after a few years.

                Thanks.

On firing managers, I have noticed that past editions of the game the CPU would fire the manager after a successful season. That manager with a good record would not be picked up by any other team. Has any work been done on this?

At the end of my Marlins franchise last year, I had made it all the way to the NLCS, and once the season ended, Ozzie Guillen left to become the Brewers' Minor League Farm Director or something. Made no sense to me.

Just for fun, I hired Buck Showalter to replace him cuz the Orioles fired him too.

Sorry if this has been covered, but I was wondering if you are able to take over/switch teams in the offseason? I've always enjoyed the challenge of taking a bad or struggling team and making them a playoff caliber team.

I don't think there were. We simmed a lot and tabarnes noted most of this. I was looking at stats for the most part and budgets. I think the mix was good from what he stated. Perhaps a tad few too many A's in the default roster(60 maybe ....fake players)....whereas in the OSFM we usually go with about 45-50.

Yeah....it's a little weird....but it's not looking at record. Honestly it's either random or it's looking at the old(removed...but maybe not under the hood removed) goals ...that were just...weird!

If you choose 30 team control to start your franchise(and put 29 teams to full CPU/AUTO) you will be able to do this. I definitely suggest it if you want to be moving back and forth between clubs.

To tack onto what Knight said, I think hirings of managers will also be tied to contract amounts of managers and available budget. This year your player payroll and staffing share the same budget.

Not sure where to post this. But I noticed in 12 and it was possibly in previous versions. When i would sim a game. The line up would be different than what i had it set to. Is there a reason it does that? Or has it been fixed if it was broken?

More than likely (assuming lineups are on manual) subs were made due to fatigue concerns.
