Let's say Niemann did his scheduled start yesterday. But David Price pitched extra innings last time so I want to give him an extra day of rest... and I start some random reliever instead... "tomorrow" (let's say Tuesday) the game will default on James Shields being the next starter, even though I actually want David Price to start. Then the next day, it will default to Matt Moore, instead of James Shields, and so on...

Even worse, if I want to then sim a game... it will automatically sim the game with the internal scheduled starter. So if I sim that Tuesday game, it automatically makes Jame Shields start that game, even though it's Price's turn by my watch... and there's not really any way around this part.
    For your team...?
    I don't think so.

I just tried it and in both instances it went to the next starter.....on the pitcher selection screen and in a simmed game.

    Edit:
Idiot....now I get it...you want to see the PREVIOUS starter start, rather than actually skip his entire start...you just want an extra day of rest.
    Sorry.

Sorry Knight, don't know if this was answered or not, but is the swing customizer available for every player? For example can you mix use a guy like andrew mccutchen and give him different animations? I never really understood if there were signature player animations or if it was just a generic selection. Thanks.

The animations you can choose from are generic. Knight posted a good list in the impressions thread. Although I cant remember if he confirmed that their is also a stride option. I think there will also be some blocks where the game wont allow you to use X stance with Y animation.

One great new feature is ALL of this is now in motion and viewable in the editor.
        It looks pretty cool.

def is default and 1-X are the generic animations you can use. The one thing I am still unclear on is this.
-Follow through 1/2 handed(AFTER whatever stance you choose...does not override stance)

Does that mean that on some stances, they have a unique animation that the devs do not want overwritten? Or does it include stances that use the generic 1/2 handed animations as well. For example the XXXXX stance uses the generic 2 handed animation (same as the one you can choose in the editor), but it was decided to not allow the use of the 1 handed animation in this instance on this stance?

This is a good question. I have had this same problem myself. It will be interesting to see if it has been addressed.

There will be some of those listed ....that will be unavailable to some players(stances actually....probably even some of the gen stances)....but I don't think the 1handed/2handed is one of them. I THINK you can assign that to any player.
It's the stride(lifting of leg) that will be default and only default for some stances...and default is that particular players stance(you cannot migrate it to other stances).
I didn't get too far into checking who was locked out of changes, but I know I changed Bryce Harper(who has his own stance) to 1H/2H back and forth and it does not change his stance(from his own as someone was worried it would go to a generic)

I get the whole memory thing for continuous seasons/franchises, etc., but what about just during one season? Also, what I don't get is why they can't have certain info available with the push of a button. Meaning, if they can have screen popups that show the pitcher's last pitching performance, or a scroll that says, "[pitcher] has lost 3 consecutive starts", etc., then why can't they have that type of info available with the push of a button? Sometimes I miss the popup or scroll because I push a button, and I wish there was a way to go back and read it since that's the only place that info is available.

So have they really done no additions to in-game/in-season stats? That's disappointing.

One more question along these lines, in '12, it drove me crazy how certain screens would not show if a batter was lefthanded or righthanded. For example, when you push select and then scroll to your bullpen via the quick method, it would show the next three batters due up, but it wouldn't show if they were L/R. Only if you went into it the long way (i.e. the start button and then the menu) would it show you L/R at the bottom. (I think that's right - I don't have the game in front of me right now). Anyways, do you know if they updated this at all so that it always shows by any icon of the hitter whether he is L/R?

              Thanks Knight!

OK thanks for clarifying about the stride part. So stride is the one that might be linked to a stance but follow through isn't?

Do you know if its the entire category that will be unavailable or just one/some of the gen choices in that category.

Is player fatigue going to be the same as last year? In '12 it seemed players' energy level would go down pretty quickly and it was tough to for a star to play 150 or so games without playing many of them on empty.

I'm not even sure how energy level plays into a player's performance, but it was something that seemed to happen a lot. You get that pop up at the beginning of the game where it says you may want to rest a player.

I think this is a good feature, but I also thought the effect was a little too much.

Anyway, really looking forward to March 5.

Hey Knight, I tried asking this question in graphics, but it seems that thread is not getting as much love as this one.

Are the sleeves still really baggy as they were in 12? Its hard to tell from the videos. thanks.

Have you noticed an improvement in the way the computer selects award winners? Cy Young Awards seem to be given to the pitcher with the most wins and not the best overall pitcher. The last season I played, John Lackey won the Cy with a 21-10 record but a 4.10 ERA. He was also in the running for the MVP. Meanwhile, Felix Hernandez wins 17 games with a 2.89 ERA and gets no award. That's not very realistic at all.

"Has the simcast experience been revamped? Last year there was a lot of batters swinging on 3-0 pitches, bunts with 2 strikes or bases loaded, and it just wasn't an accurate depiction of baseball strategy. It was my first year playing the show and I remember MVP 05 had a great simcast experience. Would love to see more hit and runs from the computer too during sims."

"I don't think simcast manager has changed"

I think the new fast-forward option we have while playing a game wherein we can sim the game from batter-to-batter has taken the place of Sportscast Manager. And I am VERY happy about this.

I'd also be curious about this. I don't typically pay attention to the awards in franchise that much. But after looking at them again I'd agree with you.

The logic for the cy young and for all star voting is wildly different. Do you think the all star voting logic is more representative to what actual Cy Young voting is in actuality?

In my franchise I have at midseason.

                            Cy Young
                            Chris Carpenter: 9-1 3.34 ERA 79 SO

                            Madison Bumgarner: 8-2 2.98 ERA 100 SO

Top 3 All Star vote receivers:

                            Johnny Cueto: 6-3 2.13 ERA 100 SO

Chris Carpenter is 9th in All Star votes.

You are probably right. But with all the other improvements they made, I can live with this. I am still holding out hope that the "toggle switch" you suggested for forced trades may have made it in. Did you happen to connect with Brian? As with the other thing, I am grateful for the effort everyone put in. It is not a big deal. I am confident that when MLB 14 comes out on the new platform it will take care of some of this stuff.

Thanks as always, Knight, for your response.

Chris Carpenter is 9th in All Star votes.
Unfortunately, the Cy Young voting is still VERY heavily weighted on wins.

I brought it up at CD, but I don't think the logic tweaking is going to get in for 13.
