    Community Day 2013 - Gameplay - Questions/Concerns/Inquiries

      (1) If there is any way to check if the pitcher confidence has been tweaked to be less fickle and more realistic. Nothing is more frustrating than facing Robot Cy Young from their #5 guy after one bad first or second inning where you K or go down in order. All downhill from there. Similarly the opposite effect for the User. Unrealistic to see Verlander crumble and unravel after a mistake pitch to Macier Izturis leads to an inning where the CPU doesn't let off until it scores 3 runs.

      (2) Any improvements to balls hit (physics?) In the gaps? It felt like the field was too small and balls would be run down by the CPU too easily; where they casually would run down a gapper that stayed in air too long, or perfectly play the bounces making it hard to hit doubles or triples. CPU outfielders feel to smooth.

          Can we Fast Forward per batter now instead of by 1/2 inning.

            - Can we do in-game save and resume fully? ... meaning no confidence reset, no lost game log, no lost replays, etc.

            - Is swing timing faster especially with the Analog interface?

            - Is CPU smarter in handling relievers and player substitutions late in the game?

            - In that sportscast-type game screen (see the post by nemesis04 below), is the game engine the one used for simming or one used in the regular gameplay?

              Judging by that screen we saw in the reveal trailer, it looks like you can do this as everything plays out in front of you in a Game-cast type view.

                    Less hits up the middle and hitting the pitcher, more animations of pitchers getting out of the way

                      I would like to know if we cold finally have fully manual base running and sliding. Or maybe just tweak for a little larger window of control for picking a slide and a little more responsive controls for running.

                          Concern: FIELDING

                          I feel like hitting/pitching have gotten attention from SCEA over recent years but FIELDING is the redheaded stepchild. Fielding is as much a part of baseball as hitting and pitching.

                          1) "BRANCHPOINT BURST" as I call it for OFs when the fielding (auto OR manuel). AI immediately activates a fielder when the play is theirs. If they would just remove this "activation" and allow the manuel user to start from ZERO movement it would resolve so many issues. I understand this may be because of the perspective shift (fielding cam) but please allow users to decide. That SHOULD be what the FIELDER REACTION slider controls. There is also the "BRANCHPOINT BURST" when a user OF closes in on a fly ball and a fielding animation activates far too early and the user loses all control. Again, give the user control over fielding. If this compromises some current animations, so be it.

                          2) OFs urgency is off the charts. A FIELDING URGENCY slider would resolve this. In reality, pro OFs don't sprint toward a base hit right at them. They make a play under control -which most often means conceding the hit, fielding the ground ball and getting it back into the 2B/SS. As it plays now the OFs run towards the ball and throw it into the 2B/SS before the batter even reaches 1B! Not realistic at all.

                          Concern: The "SLIDER PLACEBO" in general.

                          I recognize sliders do effect gameplay to some degree. However, has it ever been explained why sliders are still so insensitive? What I mean is if a player wants the current FIELDER REACTION slider at, say 0 the the game should play out where the fielder literally stands still until the ball reaches him. Or PITCHER THROW STRIKES slider at 0 means the pitcher NEVER throws strikes...etc. Why is there still such a strange ambiguity to the SLIDER settings? It's almost like the developers can only allow SO MUCH control over the outcome, but in modern gaming SLIDERS are expected so they provide them.

                            1. Too many double plays.
                            2. Too many pitchers getting hit and not dodging the ball.
                            3. Outfield play: OFers were too good/fast in their routes or took too many stupid dives instead of giving up just a single/keeping the ball in front of them.
                            4. No more bringing in a LOOGY to face a RHB and then removing them when a LHB comes in.

                              i play mainly MOM i need improved presentation. pitchers actually turning their head to check the runner at 2nd with the occasional fake throw to second and first as well. the 1st base runner and pitcher battles need to be improved especially in situations where the runner is going to steal and everybody knows it. the catcher should also throw to 1st to catch the runner occasionaly i have never seen this in the game.

                              more foul ball animations especially different ones hitting the batter not bouncing off the ground and hitting the batter in the schin. off the ankle the knee the foot also with possible injuries with these situations.

                              one of the biggest issues with realism in this game is the late inning decisions the cpu brings in a lefty to face kemp thats giong to happen or a righty to face eithier are these things going to be added this year?

                              also if there going to have balks in the game can we see them both ways and different varietys of balks? also give me the ability as the manager to argue certain calls and situations to affect morale of my players one way or the other as well as getting ejected from game if i have to or even better the players having the option to argue plays and calls.

                              ADD THESE THINGS ILL NEVER PLAY OR WATCH ANOTHER VIDEO BASEBALL GAME IN MY LIFE! LOL! i luv to watch games while i play online poker it helps me stay patient in tournaments.
