They will not let me post in that thread no more so ill post here that animation is nothing like anything u see in real baseball game sorry its jus not the players are 5 foot of the foul line most the time it happens and the way they turn there glove and try to scoot the ball even further then the ball goes flying crazy down the line looks ugly to me but jus have to accept it!!!!!!Comment

Re: Community Day 2013 - Presentation, Graphics & Sound - Questions/Concerns/Inquirie
I guess I'll post my concern over the animation here as well.
The animation of the third or first baseman coming in toward a bunt or ground ball and then swiping aggressively at the ball as soon as it goes foul happens too often. Sure, this has occurred in the MLB. But it does not happen every time a player tries to touch a ball in foul territory to have it ruled foul.
I understand that its nice to have that animation at all, but because it is used so much in the game it makes the play itself look comical. Most of the time the player will simply touch the ball or field it. They don't run full speed at it and swipe at it like how it is shown in the game.
it would be hard to have another animation since most times its an involved play. The player will stop and see if the ball is going foul, then grab it, touch it or knock it foul. Its very rare to see a player intentionally hit the ball with their glove so hard. If the player was wrong and the umpire ruled it fair the ball would be in play.
I would prefer a much more subtle animation for this where the player doesn't try and knock the ball into the dugout.Last edited by MrOldboy; 01-28-2013, 10:19 PM.Comment

Its difficult to read and to understand what it is you are trying to articulate. That is all. Grammar exists for a reason.

Okay...I can get on board with this.
I thought you guys were saying it never happens.
It wouldn't hurt to add a few animations for this type of play.

Re: Community Day 2013 - Presentation, Graphics & Sound - Questions/Concerns/Inquirie
This is what I thought from all the discussion that was going on about it a bit ago.
I hope that the cases of blocked animations and stances are rare though. This could hamper the feature if everyone is expecting to put X, Y and Z together and then cant. I hope there wont be a case for example where you choose McCutchen as the stance and then you can't modify any of the animations at all. I really hope that this fixes the whole, wrong swing for stance issue (i.e. Pujols with two handed, etc), but if you get locked out of a stance I really hope they are accurate in terms of that.University of Kentucky Wildcats 8x Champs

I agree with hoping the blocks are rare, this feature has me excited too. I’d imagine they’re rare or the feature would be pretty useless. Just guessing here, but as long as player A and animation B have similar set ups then they should be compatible. For example, if player A uses an open stance and generic animation B is for a balanced stance then it probably won’t work.

Re: Community Day 2013 - Presentation, Graphics & Sound - Questions/Concerns/Inquirie
Here are two for example that look like they hit the same spot at one point in their swing. They are not exactly the same, at least I think they are a bit different. I'd assume this is so they dont need to have a unique swing for every single player. I would guess this is where the next animation would come in. I wonder if the stances were reworked at all so they have more of these common stop points. I hope it doesn't make them look a bit stiff though or all look alike from a transition point. I'd hate to see all the custom swing players put their hands/bat in the same spot.Attached FilesLast edited by MrOldboy; 01-28-2013, 11:05 PM.Comment

I think there are going to be quite a few blocks or restrictions, but not to the point where the feature is useless or even really close to useless. Either way, I can't wait to use this feature, even if we could only edit the follow through, I'd consider this an enormous accomplishment.University of Kentucky Wildcats 8x Champs

Re: Community Day 2013 - Presentation, Graphics & Sound - Questions/Concerns/Inquirie
My question is a bit more general, but Presentation, Graphics & Sound seems like the most appropriate place for it. Anyway, my question is:
- Did any of you attendees speak at all with the developers about whether they're already planning for the next gen console?
- Would you say that most of the features and improvements that are difficult to impliment are difficult due to (a) technology/memory constraints or (b) being too time consuming to create?Comment

Re: Community Day 2013 - Presentation, Graphics & Sound - Questions/Concerns/Inquirie
There was a bit of discussion about this but it got derailed sort of.
There was a bit of this mentioned in the impressions thread, but I'm not sure if they are actually mentioning this specifically.
Have there been any changes to catcher animations, glove placement, blocking animations, etc as it pertains to pitching? Just any changes and if so can you describe any of them?Comment
