I apologize if this has been addressed already, but my question is concerning the Commentary.

MLB12 was one of the most challenging years in reference to the commentary.
It seemed everyone on my team was leading the league in 2 out of 3 of the Triple Crown categories.
Also, they often hit 2 HRs, by simply hitting one or popped up grounders to 2B.

Have these types of issues been addressed with the coding?

I never actually notice those specific issues in 12, I also can't remember, but yeah I noticed a lot of odd commentary in general. I'm hoping that with the Steve Lyons, they also may have addressed some of those issues. But to be honest I still expect the commentary to we wonky as usual. I eventually turned off commentary to be honest though, just due to repetition.

The new commentary is something I haven't heard a lot of impressions on though from CD.

Weird question, but.... Have they made any changes to the Instant Replay's photo "camera" mechanism?

I just love what EA Sports has done in recent years (at least in Madden and NCAA, not sure if it's in their other sports titles or not) with the camera function in their instant replays. Being able to mess with both the zoom and the depth of focus allows for some breathtaking, very realistic pictures to be taken.

It's a shame, too, because EA's games don't have the caliber of faces in MLB The Show. And you can also take full-screen shots in The Show, which I don't think EA allows for.

If The Show guys would give us a proper camera to take pictures with (not just being able to hit a button to toggle between a blurry background or a clear background), The Show would produce photos that would put the "The Photographic Side of NCAA Football" thread over on the NCAA board to shame.

I'm curious if any of the CD guys did any pitching from the behind the pitcher views?

Did anyone notice any changes/new animations to the catcher and/or umpire? It was mentioned that the fielders look more organic, but no mention of the catcher and of receiving, setting up, pitch calling, etc.

          Thanks!

Nem, Is there any noticeable upgrades to lighting and/or field & grass textures? Thanks!

YES! I've been asking about this for a while. I've gotten very sick of the catcher set animations. I'd love to see them actually put the glove where you aim, or stand up for high fastballs. And frame close pitches. I love using broadcast view, but I've gotten sick of how robotic the catcher looks.

With the national anthems being in the playoffs, do we get the full thing or only the final few bars?

will the green monster show the up to date standings in franchise and in real life when we play the show live? Also while playing the show live will out of town scoreboards show the games being played that day in real life?

                      Curiously missing from 12...

I thought this would be the best one of these threads to ask about the custom stances, how they look in practice.

I'm still very excited for the potential of this, but it has made me think about how the batting stances are structured in terms of their animations, transitions, etc.

How did mixing and matching stances, strides, swings, etc look once in the game and batting like normal?

One thing that Russell said in the interview with gotgame I think it was was that you can use McCutchen's stance and swings for example, but you can also use their generic offerings. I thought this was cleared up in the Editor thread, but I am still confused on this.

If you pick an MLB player stance, will the custom animations you choose reflect in the actual game or do those animations associated with McCutchen override the custom animations? Was Russell referring to using McCutchen's stance and then custom animations, or that we can only use the custom animations with the generic stances?

Just curious, how did the cyber faces of well known players look after a trade. Did they look like themselves?

What I got from it was that you can use any stance, and modify it with a few different generic choices. Some of these generic choices could be blocked out by specific stances because they just won't work properly together.

If you leave each choice on the default setting, they will keep the original animations that come with that batting stance.

This is what I thought from all the discussion that was going on about it a bit ago.

I hope that the cases of blocked animations and stances are rare though. This could hamper the feature if everyone is expecting to put X, Y and Z together and then cant. I hope there wont be a case for example where you choose McCutchen as the stance and then you can't modify any of the animations at all. I really hope that this fixes the whole, wrong swing for stance issue (i.e. Pujols with two handed, etc), but if you get locked out of a stance I really hope they are accurate in terms of that.
