I would like for there to be a small delay though, but only a fraction of a second, enough to see the whole swing animation at least.
Yes, there would have to be a "Jump start" auto-fielding mechanism during this part, but I was under the impression the game already does this for players. If not, I don't think it would be a bad idea or be a negative.

I'm not suggesting anyone go play an entire game of the 2K baseball series, but find a video that shows a few at-bats and you'll see what I mean. It looks pretty awesome watching the ball travel for a split second before the camera cuts away to the defense.

        Spoiler

not sure exactly what you're talking about now after watching some 2K gameplay. Are you talking about when you are batting or fielding?

In the video it seems like it goes immediately into the fielding view as soon as the ball is hit. Its just that 2K's view is completely different than The Show's. It is just the behind the plate camera and it zooms in from the plate so you see some of the hitter as the ball travels. Is this what you meant?

I was talking about something like this.

        Spoiler

Where you see the batter finish his swing, then it goes into the broadcast fielding camera. I would just want to add maybe a 0.5-1 second delay from what i in the game now.

          Also NEM...

They could fix two other things without much effort...

          1) The Caught Stealing sound plays everytime a runner ATTEMPTS a stolen base. It should only play when the runner gets thrown out. So if it is a 3-2 count with 2 outs and the runner is going to steal no matter what and the batter fouls off 4-5 pitches in row...the song plays everytime. It should only play when, as the title says, they are CAUGHT STEALING.

          2) They HAVE to fix the default sounds playing with our personal assigned sounds. On HR's, their default sound plays along with the HR siren we assign and it messes it up bad. Tell them to remove all default sounds if we assign our own. I know it happens on strikeouts also.

          Thanks my man!!!

Can we please get a rundown of all the changes to Sounds of The Show? Particularly....

          - How many total slots do we have this year (music, chants, yells). Is it the same as last year?

          What needs to be tweaked...
          1) The in-between inning music only played for like 7 secs whereas the previous year...it would play until you hit the X button. Can they fix it back to letting it play much longer? You barely get into your song and it fades out too early.

          2) The Away Pitcher music would only play when the new pitcher got to the mound. It should be played as the current pitcher is leaving the mound in disgust. Makes more sense when you play a "hey...hey...goodbye" when the pitcher is being pulled as opposed to when the new relief pitcher is coming in.

          All for now...

          Thanks!

I'm talking about from the batter's perspective. If viewing from the pitcher's perspective, then I like the real broadcast example you provided in the second video.

This is what I'm talking about regarding 2K's smooth transition after bat-ball contact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu9TdcoCSoc

The camera doesn't even change, it just moves and focuses in. It doesn't have to be done exactly like this, but at least follow the ball off the bat for a split second. It would be done differently based on whether it's from the "behind catcher" or "behind pitcher" views.

So you basically want it to be like batting in RTTS, except automatically change to the fielding view after a few moments. In RTTS you can hit L2 and get the fielding view. So you can hit the ball...the press L2 after a second or two to see what I mean. That would work well I think as a setting since the camera view is already in the game and shouldn't be too hard to implement.

In 2K the camera does change to a differnt angle a bit higher above home plate, I find that cut a little jarring since it happens right when contact is made, but I get your point. Would be nice as a setting when batting.

To be honest though I wish they'd come up with a way to make hitting from the broadcast view actually manageable. That would make the game look and feel even more authentic to a broadcast, but it would always be a bit weird hitting from that perspective. I've tried in the past by putting hitting on timing and making everything in broadcast view. It looks great, but it doesn't feel like I'm playing the game when batting, just watching. They would need to make it feel like you have real input into whats happening on screen.

The view in RTTS is very comparable. I basically dislike the jarring (to use your words) transition in a normal game (non RTTS) when the view changes instantly on contact. It's dizzying a bit and I think a good alternative would be something close to what we've discussed.

Like you said, it's in RTTS so maybe it's something SCEA could tweak for this year -- if not, definitely next.

                  Re: Community Day 2013 - Presentation, Graphics & Sound - Questions/Concerns/Inquirie

My friends and I have played the crud out of this game in the past year. One thing that was commonly mentioned seperately as OFF-sound wise-is:

-When a pitched ball hits the dirt and is caught in the catcher's mitt it does not make the same sound as a ball coming in straight to the glove (with its attendant high frequencies) but rather is muffled because the glove is held between the dirt and the world....Any chance you could talk a sound man/woman into, at the very least, adding a high pitch filter to when that occurs?

-Secondly, when a ball is really smacked hard (i.e. deep-Deep-DEEP hit balls) in a large ball park (and one is down there on the field) the WOOD sound has a really cool SLAP-BACK echo that you can hear
(SEE: Most '50s SUN Records recordings for example of what I mean) which was not in the game last year...Any chance that you added that or could add some effect like that to those types of hits for this year?

-Are there any plans on adding new stadiums (even if generic) this year as, optional, DLC?.....
I would love to buy/play historical franchise games in a few generic cookie cutter stadiums with the sickly light green astro-turf (Phillies or Pirates, St Louis)............... or even just have field surface ALONE as DLC (i.e. sick green astroturf in good condition, sick green astroturf in torn up condition, grass that isn't perfectly homogized but shows dirt spots, grass that is torn up with signs of a football team that also plays on the same field-Orioles & Colts as one example-, etc)?

i would love to see better home run presentation. i hate when a guy hits a homer and takes about 5 steps down the line then jumps to a different animation, also the trot around the bases just looks weird. Would also love home run horns, sirens etc for each team that has one.

i know this is probably just me being a homer but i would love for the pitchers to be taken out of the bullpen at at&t,they never sit out there. Also the water canons to go off during home runs at at&t. That being said, i love this game, this is all a lot of minor stuff but would add to the game.

Request from someone who plays every game of the season in franchise:

-Possible to allow "play-by-play" and "in game sounds" to play at the same time as "User Music". That way we can put our own (different) crowd recording in that spot as a supplement to the existing crowd noise (at different times in the year) and thereby give more sound variation to the game as the season wears on....would be a small detail but good for sustaining user interest level?

Is there any different home run celebration cuts? Also is there an option to make home run celebration cam happen after every homerun because in 12 it would only happen in about 1 in every 5 homeruns.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but I am in my Franchise and Mike Morse just got off the DL. He hits his third homer of the season and the display banner uner the score bug says "Mike Morse Homerun the Second of His Career."

                              This happens with many players.
