But the part I don't understand : any major leagues teams these days are investing a lot in marketing and how their team image (logos, colors, uniforms) is represented in all medias everywhere. If the guide would be so important for the teams, why they're not updating it? Why by example Toronto Jays would let the medias and the merchandising keep referring to their wrong Blue color ? If it would be so important, the first thing marketing dept would be doing is keep it up to date. So my feeling is it's not used that much anymore.

For some other reasons SCEA is trapped with that guide.
Is the Blue Jays blue wrong because of the style guide? I kind of thought it was just a wrong palette colour used by SCEA.

I couldn't agree more with you though. As I have said before, team colours, logos and uniforms are PARAMOUNT to a teams identity.

I agree with you. There's so many errors (are not maintained by the teams) in that style guide to be a reference for medias and stuff.

Did the Rangers uniforms from 86-93 make it in?

Just saw the developer blog video, and there was a split second shot of the Rays wearing their throwback jerseys. With green undershirts.

All Rays 98-01 throwback uniforms have black undershirts, not green. The only time green was ever a primary color was when they started wearing the newer RAYS jerseys in 2002.

          Just a subtle change

The thing is, the Style Guide is not for the purposes of the teams, but for the purpose of merchandise. Baseball doesn't require the teams to adhere to it verbatim because they own that identity. The Style Guide is more for the merchandisers so that they can create what the teams want to represent them.

Say that there wasn't a guide. How could Baseball protect its properties? How could merchandisers protect against recalling product because something was changed late in the design process? It may not make sense to some, but to those that have to deal in the design and manufacturing world it means a lot of money.

Makes sense to me but my first thought when u mentioned merchandise being correct, how do they then get away with crazy fashion designs like a neon green Yankees cap? When you buy one of those (if you do, me myself I hate non authentic colors on my MLB gear), they don't come with a disclaimer saying that this isn't the authentic gear. And I also don't see merchandise being incorrect. I have a blue jays cap, and the shade of blue is exact. If the merchandise people can make changes, then how does SCEA get that right too?

New Era is the official ballcap supplier of Major League Baseball. As it would seem with 2k, the guys who fork over the most money get more leeway with Baseball.

Are the sleeves still extremely baggy or were they toned down a bit?

shame, seeing as many players wear them along with long wrist tape

So I am assuming umpires still wear short sleeves in cold games AND no baserunners have batting gloves?

That was because the player models changed and they didn't scale the wristbands back to size.
