One thing I'm missing is the cutscenes that really improved the authenticity of the game first in MLB 12 - The Show. For example when pitchers leave the mound after a pitch and come back or batters swing the bat a couple of times and so on. I hope they've not taken it out because it made the game a lot more TV-like than before... -

hitting was too hard? Come on, I had to move from HoF to Legendary just to have some kind of challenge. Hitting gets easier every year. I mean people can't tell me that they're not getting hits like crazy when they're playing on rookie or veteran.
btw: finally cursor batting as an option this year? Been waiting for this sooooo long
Or at least better physics and stuff? I know they had better physics last year but it was still miles behind PYS.
Anyway, I'll probably skip The Show 13 and only buy PYS 2013 this year. I'll wait for the next-gen The Show which hopefully will be The Show 14Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Video - New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays
The new scorebug does look great. I do see a few things it could benefit from:
1. After each pitch, flash the pitch speed and type (for example - "81 MPH CH"). If real estate is an issue place it where the count is for a second and then switch back to the count, like a lot of TV scorebugs do. This should display regardless of whether pitch callout is on or off. I want to play with pitch callout OFF but still have the speed/type flash in the scorebug.
2. Show the pitch count (NESN scorebug shows this). Ideally would even be broken down by balls/strikes. Maybe just add a little section to the right side of the bug:
S: 27
B: 17
T: 44
3. Not really sure about this one because it's not really consistent with TV scorebugs but it would be nice to see at a glance that there is a burner on base. For example, if there is a fast runner on first or second have a little foot icon on the yellow on-base indicator. I guess we can already see this in the runner windows but it's always kinda bugged me that the runner window information is not available for a runner at second base.
These things along with being able to turn all other OSDs off (which is great!) would make for a great immersive exp. IMOAttached FilesComment

I also love how for community days, instead of asking about gameplay, physics, AI etc. the boards get flooded with questions about bench players' stances and ratings.Comment

Things that stood out for me:
-Gardner's hit was great. From the way it dropped in and how it bounced to the track between the outfielders was something I didn't see very often last year.
-Team payroll seems to be a lot more accurate
-Based on Ramone's description, they've put a lot of emphasis on scouting which was one of the major issues in the Show '12 franchise mode. I'm excited to hear more on this.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Video - New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays
I'm kind of in between, I already play on legend with pitch speed maxed out and I have no problem drawing walks and getting the CPU to throw 140+ pitches a game with ~62-68% strikes, but that's after spending significant time tweaking sliders. On legend there are far too many whiffs in the zone using timing hitting, and that's after bumping up contact a few ticks (although me bumping down timing to nerf the hitting boost might be a factor lol), and from how I interpret the info we've been given so far I'm guessing it will be easier to make contact but not necessarily easier to get hits.Bakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Video - New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays
I don't view it as easier hitting but balancing the system. The hitting had elements that were pretty strict and there was too much of a fine line between success and failure. Granted that is what this sport is all about but in a video game, loosing up some of the parameters can open the offense by granting the user more extra base hits on solid contact which will result in some more diversity in scores then the traditional 3-2, 1-0 2-1 games people constantly see.
When we are there we put the game through some pretty good paces and in the past difficulty has been adjusted based on group feedback. I would not worry too much.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

I use auto field too, but even if you dont use auto fielding, youd know where the ball is going by seeing the bat on ball contact, so you gain that 1/2 sec lost by getting the fielder ready where the ball is going.Comment
