Re: MLB 13 The Show Fact Sheet
While it would be nice...I'm a little unconvinced that I would call it major.
Why?
Teams IMO mostly make moves on two things. Especially on the call up end.
Options and 40 man status....and that's basically what the game does albeit as stated, they make that move only when there is an injury.
Rarely will you see a team promote a player to the MLB level just because he is tearing up AA and start his clock ticking on options.(unless they just know he's staying there)
OOTP tries this and IMO the shuffling up/down back and forth is ludicrous.
While it's something that I would like to see in some instances, putting the code in place to distinguish when to and when not to might be really tough.(Are the Yankees sending down A-Rod just because he's hitting .200 in July? doubt it...and if it happened in the game we'd go nuts....look at some of the guys that already get stuck in AAA after injury and such)
Doing it on injury and then reforming the rosters in the off season(going by ratings) is the stop gap to this.

I know it would be difficult to build a solid logic base to make it work correctly, but I would trust this dev team to be able to do it. Your ARod example is valid, but you would have never expected him to be benched in the playoffs either.
Just want to be immersed into the franchise mode, so hopefully the improvements will do that.Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Fact Sheet
I hear ya Knight, just think it would be cool to have in the game. Your correct about the instances in which players would get called up, but since some of the service time logic is in the game (pretty sure it is), this would be a nice tie in.

You got me thinking though...and the one thing that prevents poor performance from causing a player to be sent down in OOTP is the right of refusal....and perhaps if they added and used that as the mechanism to keep the CPU from shuffling established players who are playing poorly from getting demoted....it could work.
That is my only real concern with performance based roster moves(MLB level...)

Re: MLB 13 The Show Fact Sheet
Yeah same here. I'll most likely hold off on playoff mode until I make the playoffs in franchise then I'll recreate the actual bracket when playoff time rolls around.NHL: Chicago Blackhawks
NFL: Kansas City Chiefs
MLB: Kansas City Royals
NCAA: Kansas JayhawksComment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Fact Sheet
Ignored isn't the proper word to use here. It's priorities we have finite time and finite resources. The plan for franchise mode was to completely scrap the logic and code for team budgets, team evaluations, scouting, drafting, and player progression, player generation logic and start over.
This was a massive undertaking and it's where we knew the time and resources were best spent.
The word oversight means unintentional failure to notice or do something. There is no oversight here having players be called up based on performance was never in the design plans this year so it's not a major oversight, its not an oversight at all.Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Fact Sheet
I'd like to personally thank you for spending a good portion of your resources on franchise mode. I'm very excited about this part of the game, not only this year but future years. When you use the words "start over" that shows me the developmental team has big plans for this mode. Last year we were told franchise mode was improved but it really wasn't, by completely scrapping it and starting over (as you put it) that should have all of us optimistic that this time we will start to see some improvements.

I rarely post but check the form all the time, but I must say I am ready to pre-order this game.I didn't buy last year game since I am just a franchise player(with my son)and didn't see much improvement from 11(We still play that game). It's a must buy for me now. Can't wait!!Comment

You seem really defensive, no offense. Look, we appreciate you taking the time to communicate with us (wait, that's your job, right?), but I would like to ask that you not talk down to the members here. We're just looking to get our questions (about the game) answered, nothing more, nothing less. I'll bow out."Life is like baseball, it's the number of times you arrive home safely that counts"Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Fact Sheet
In the bold is where you are being short sighted. OS is not the sole target audience, actually we are more of the minority in the whole picture. While many here may scratch their head as to why something like that was implemented there was a bigger audience outside of OS that strongly felt the need for it. We are fortunate that SCEA comes here and feeds our hunger for the ultimate baseball simulation but there also needs to be a balance that satisfies the larger buying audience as well.
Are you serious with your bolded statement here? The Show users have more input and the devs listen and incorporate feedback on this product more than any other game I can think of. They go to great lengths to do this. Just because they can't possibly get to everything everyone wants in a yearly cycle, people hold it against them.
$60 is a steal for the amount of content and play time packed in this product and people act as if they are owed more and more and more.
The cost isn't the issue I wanted to bring up its that there is only ONE The Show game each year. Because of this it creates a lot of frustration for those who don't see what they hoped to be in the game. There is no second chance, they get ONE option and honestly they'll probably buy it day one like the rest of us even though they bitch and moan.
SpoilerYou both missed the point of my post though, instead you singled out sentences in it so that you could post a rebuttal. I wanted to bring to light an opinion one of the "unruly" users on here might have. I used words like "feel", "on here" (as in OS users) and used quotations to indicate these were not my feelings.Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Fact Sheet
Im having a real hard time understanding why "everyone" thinks the game should be tailor made to suit their desires?
Its a game people. Not real life where decisions made by others may keep you from waking up the next morning. Its not some buffet where you get to pick and choose whats on your plate. Its a video game. A video game that is suited for all ages and all levels of gaming experience. It is not tailor made for any one demographic. Its not created especially for OS followers, TSN followers or PS.com followers. Its made for EVERYONE. So while some people may not like this or that, its just too bad, because there are others who do like it and SCEA cant possibly cater to everyone.
So they create a game to the best of their abilities and to what the code and hardware will allow. I have seen them say "We cant" and then the next year, THEY DO. Why? because they listened and figured out a way. Every year I have seen them push the envelope again and again. They implement something new or different every year. Some I like and some I dont, some I hate. Some work great and some are buggy, but I keep playing the game because I realize MLBTS is not about ME, its about US and "US" is about 840,000 people. How can they possibly cater to every one of those 840k? They cant. So they come here and to TSN and wherever else and ask for our suggestions. They are not obligated to ask and theyre certainly not obligated to comply. They do it because they want to allow us to have some input. And Ive seen that input come to fruition personally.
PLEASE, Im begging you guys PLEASE!
Stop the nonsense of asking for "stuff" and expecting to be heard or expecting for them to comply, especially if you cant ask like a normal polite adult, even if youre not one IRL.
If you dont like something, fine, but dont be a "stick" about it.
When you act like a"stick" you get banned like our friend at the top here.
No need to be a "stick" yet he was and paid the price for it.
Lets get back on track here!Last edited by Curahee; 01-17-2013, 10:50 AM.Comment
