Played a game on Legend - BAL (me) @ TB (CPU). Rodriguez vs Price. I lost 3-4.
I thought the batter/pitcher match up when batting was great. I thought the CPU was aggressive with its pitches by pitching in the zone with great location. I didn't think the location was "machine like" as I managed to work 3 walks in the game and Price threw 111 pitches through 7 innings - he also struck out 9. Most of those were of the chase variety and I could not stay back on his change up. I had 8 base hits with 3 doubles, no HRs. I'll play a couple more games with Legend as my hitting difficulty. My stats look similar to the other games I've played on HoF - again, only 3 games played.
Pitching on Legend is another story all together. I managed to keep it together by allowing only 4 runs on 10 hits, but the CPU is aggressive at the dish. And if you don't hit your spot, they make you pay. I only struck out 3 batters and didn't walk anyone - I didn't have good rhythm (pitching with pulse). My pitches were either way out of the zone or caught too much of the plate. I didn't really enjoy pitching on Legend - HoF feels right for my skill level.
I'm sure most of us have played baseball at some point and know what the feeling is like when you start reaching for the ball while your batting. I think this game does a great job of replicating that. If I allow the ball to get deeper in the zone, I hit with better contact and more force. But if I get too far ahead on a fastball, the barrel of the bat is out of the zone before the ball gets there and I roll a grounder to third. I did this about 4-6 times in my last game. I was so excited at the fastball that I couldn't sit back and drive it - instead I hit a weak room service bouncer to the third basemen. I don't know why, but that really made me happy. I love knowing that I should have crushed a pitch, but because of my impatience, my hitter is jogging back to the dugout.
Really enjoying this game. My girlfriend, not so much.
