The "my player" (Road to the show) part of the game is GREAT. You dont buy an apartment and decorate it and all that stuff (which I dont care about anyway), but if you want an authentic baseball experience as a single player, RTTS is great.
Franchise Mode is a blast also. It's made to be PLAYED in my opinion. There seems to be some problems with progression/etc as far as simulating 25 seasons goes, judging solely by what others post on forums.
Personally, I only do 1-3 seasons because I actually play 20 or so out of the 162-game schedule, so I can't speak from experience about simming 10-25 years.
I use Out of the Park Baseball and Baseball Mogul, which are text-based games that are made solely for the strategy portion of baseball (draft, free agents, trades, developing prospects, managing finances, hiring/firing coaches and scouts, etc over a 20-50 year period).
So as far as the strategy portion of franchise mode, someone else in the community would be able to give you a rating in that department.
But as far as PLAYING baseball, The Show is the best. Bar none.
