Still happens when disconnected. This is a game killer. You never know when it is going to happen. I don't have faith they can fix this because this is the third year in a row. Really disappointed.

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter
What I don't understand is why is the game stuttering for some people a lot and for others not so much, or even at all? I'm thinking it may have it do with how old your PS3 is? Just a thought.Comment

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter
What I am curious about is if it was as prevalent in MLB 12. There seems to be a lot more talk about it this year. From the videos it is showing up more frequently than I experienced it in last years game. And last year I attributed it to my PS3 hardware and not the game, which looking back was probably wrong.Comment

Someone said they were getting stutter on a brand new PS3.
Its weird that it is only some people, I wonder if some people notice it more than others.

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter
Guys, one setting i know for sure makes the ps3 stutter in general is from the xmb, under network settings, make sure "media server connection" is disabled. Don't know why, i guess it's because when enabled the PS3 looks for media server connections, whether you are hardwired or not, maybe through the wifi.
One other thing to try is google how to put the ps3 into safe mode, and use the "restore system file' tool.
I have the original slim, and have NEVER had a stutter, in any game. Matter of fact, i'm amazed at how SMOOTH MLB 13 has been, like straight butter.Comment

Did you need a new PS3? With the PS4 right around the corner nice to have that extra scratch toward next gen.Comment

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter
This has zero to do with the internet or the PS3 old or new. This has happened for 3 straight years of this game.
Is it a game killer? It depends who you ask because let's say you get it in a key at bat and lose the game? I would be highly pissed
Last years game it happened every single game at least 1 or twice during the cpu pitching to me.
I thought it was a horrible way for SCEA to throw a change up but it is not a change up from the cpu pitcher. It is a bug in the game that has not been picked up for 3 years now.
Many times last year I struck out because of it in big moments. And it is upsetting that it has not been fixed
I have the old fat ps3 and a slim ps3 and my cousin has the new small ps3 and it happens in all of themComment

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter
Hope this info helps.
Activating Safe Mode
Step 1: Turn off the PLAYSTATION 3 by holding the Power button on the front of the unit till the Power light is red.
Step 2:
- Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the PLAYSTATION 3 is powering on.
- Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
- Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).
Step 3:
- Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PLAYSTATION 3 to power on.
- Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
- Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button.
4) Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PLAYSTATION 3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode.
5) Then you will see the Safe Mode menu.
Step 4: We recommending performing the safe mode options in the following order until one of the options works for you. If one of the options work, do not continue onto the other options.
- Restore Default Settings
- Restore File System
- Rebuild Database
- Restore PS3 System
Normally, using option 2 or 3 works best. Also, its a must, online or offline to disable the media server connection under network settings, definitely had impact on stutter.
Hope this helps.Comment

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter
Although I think your intentions are good with putting the ps3 in safe mode etc. it comes down to it being a bug in the game for whatever reason. Maybe on their machines when they are developing the game they don't see it that's why it's never been addressed.Comment

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter
Dissapointed this is still an issue. I noticed the stuttering was almost always during day games and was more frequent in certain ballparks. Can't remember what team I was playing for in RTTS, but I think it was in 11 where my guy ended up on a team where the ballpark was one of the ones that had really bad stutter. I couldn't hit the broad side of the barn because of it and ended up quitting altogether and starting a new player. It really makes things tough at the plate, your timing gets all thrown off. It's thE absolute worst place to have stuttering in a baseball game.Comment
