Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
yea, it's a completely different issue. Game mode on a tv helps with input lag. This is clearly an intermittent issue with the ball coming out of the pitcher's hand (namely the CPU pitcher). I can go a few innings or even a game without having the stutter but another game I can get a few per inning. It's completely random but something is causing this and needs to be addressed before I can play this game more seriously.Comment

Edit: I had just started a new game and switched back to dynamic and sure enough I got two stutters in the first at bat.Comment

Also, regarding game mode, I don't think that's it either because my TV is always on game mode whenever my PS3 is plugged in.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
This is the entire game hitching up for a split second and in very specific moments that have been narrowed down by this thread. Mostly its the ball coming out of the hand that has caused the most frustration.
The end result is the opposite of input lag since you are not late on balls, but incredibly early if you react the same.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
input lag is when there is a delay between the monitor/tv and the box (this case being a PS3). Usually its the TV getting the signal, then a delay from when that is displayed. Game mode typically turns off all postprocessing.

Game mode sucked anyway...Felt like half the stadiums lights were off.Comment

If you want to try, use your normal setting, but turn off all the postprocessing off in the display menus.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
The stutter or pause is so incredibly subtle that I'm sure anyone listing it as not happening for them just can't see it. It doesn't happen on every pitch but does occur 1 out of every 10 pitches (rough estimate). I don't know if you can even call it a stutter. It's a subtle "hitch" in the pitchers motion. The game doesn't necessarily freeze or stutter but the pitchers motion hitches for just a split second. Enough to throw off your timing which is critical in this game, for obvious reasons.
Sometimes it seems the ball may lag behind the motion. The delivery may be complete, but the ball doesn't register as leaving the hand at the release point and quickly "hitches" to catch up to where it's supposed to be. Kind of like a subtle warping effect.
This is probably the best way to describe it, rather than simply calling it a stutter.Comment

This is the worse one, that's extremely noticeable and detracts from my gameplay experience for obvious reasons:

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
This issue has to be patched by Opening Day. I won't start my franchise until this is taken care of. It's not a tv issue, it happens on my plasma which is perfect for gaming. This is purely a game issue. Couple questions:
1. Has anyone tried restoring their PS3 cache? That seemed to help last year.
2. Has anyone tried playing while not connected to any internet connection?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
Yeah, the one that you describe doesn't bother me enough to really affect my experience. The one like what I posted a long time back in this thread.....that's different. There are indeed two levels of this stutter.

I watched that about 20 times and it's definitely a pause. My idea of a "warping" effect simply isn't true. If you look at the fielders and crowd, right as the stutter happens, you see them freeze in place for a split second. That tells me the game locks up for that split second as the ball is released.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
You might have wanted to play a few more games on the new HDD to see if the stuttering was still there. Although I never tried to play the game on my original 160 GB stock hard drive, I did have insanely bad stuttering the first game I played on my new 750 GB, 7200 RPM drive. However, it got better game after game and after the 3rd/4th game I had no issues whatsoever.
Also, regarding game mode, I don't think that's it either because my TV is always on game mode whenever my PS3 is plugged in.
I've had my 7200 RPM HDD in my ps3 for about 2 yrs now and have not seen stuttering in the game or when the home plate screen comes on since I upgraded. I had stuttering in mlb 11 I believe before I upgraded my HDD. Haven't seen any since then. I was actually debating whether I should upgrade again to a SSD drive but am nt sure yet. I probably won't since ill be getting a ps4 when it drops and want to save some money.
I think the speed of the drive helps since it is able to find the right portion of the drive quicker. Also, the size of the cache on the HDD helps as well.PSN: ckarlic
