Budgets are far from what they are on the show. On 12 if i have budgets on Cubs are like 68 mil lmao. Cubs are biggest revenue team in NL. They have highest ticket prices. They have had payroll 150 mil in past. Easily over 200 mil budget with coachers, scouts, farm etc. I just dont like how minor leaguers, coachers etc count against budget on Show. Either dont count those or raise it

Players hit their peak this year around 28-31. After that they start regressing(As is true in real baseball)

From what I remember there still is a "cap" to the amount that they can progress year to year. So for instance a player is 26 and an A potential and OVL of 55. That player will never hit an A overall.

There is also more variation on progression this year. Before it was a straight linear path. You would see plus 4 across the board every year. This year it may be +1, then +7, +3 etc...

Potential also impacts salaries. A's tend to receive higher deals etc..One thing I thought, was that salaries were a little too low. If you had all B's and C's there the salaries would be SUPER low.

What happens if a young player has an overall higher than their potential? For example, if you give Andrelton Simmons his proper defensive ratings, even with the crappy batting attributes he has in '13 he's still an A... Last year players would regress heavily if their overall was higher than their potential, regardless of age... Is it the same this year?

The budgets do not reflect real life. If the players had their actual contracts they would have a payroll well over 200 million. The budget is in relation to the quality of players on the team and salaries they make.

We mentioned at CD about having a separate MLB and Minor League budget.

If you look at Carlos Gonzalez...

I don't understand why everyone hates him. Should he be a 99 overall? I think so. But the guy has 2 things going against him. 1. He gets hurt a lot and 2. He plays at Coors Field...

I think this is why everyone hates him. He's a darn fine player. Last 3 years he has averaged roughly a .310+ BA, 95-100 runs, 25-30 homers, 95-100 rbis and 20+ stolen bases each season. All this while missing about 30 games a season. IMPRESSIVE.

Players like this don't grow on trees. They are extremely rare. Who else other than Gonzalez can put up those numbers in 2013? The list is VERY tiny. Maybe Mike Trout, Mccutchen, and Ryan Braun. So basically 4 out of 400 batters in MLB. If that isn't elite and doesn't warrant a 99 overall...than what does?

It's not his choice to play at Coors Field. It is what it is.

There's a reason why MLB the Show has a "durability" attribute. For all you Cargo haters just put his durability around 80 and go on your merry way. My goodness.

I don't normally get on guys about players, but here I had too. Carlos Gonzalez is nothing but a Coors Field anomaly. Look at his road numbers compared to home which are in parentheses :

2012: AB 252(266) , BA .234(.368), OBP .301(.437), SLG .405(.609) all are drastically worse than home stats, not just a little, drastically.

2011 same deal: AB 219(263), BA .252(.331), OBP .317(.402), SLG .440(.597).

On the road he's a below average player, add in the fact that he's always injured and you get justification for his detractors. BTW I have nothing against the guy but facts are facts

Never understood why people on here question the way how developers over the game and who are the guys who implement these potentials don't think they know what they're doing.

People who claim to be gurus and throw out stats no one else understands should put in a job application at SCEA if this is such a big problem.

They have this job for a reason and not yourself. Another reason OSFM is a great roster is because these things are going to be fixed.

First off, NO ONE is questioning the way developers are doing their jobs.

Second, NO ONE is claiming to be a guru that knows everything.

This is a lot of personal opinions that in our minds make sense.

Others, are not justifiable and make no sense to anyone.

These will not be fixed in the OSFM unless someone plans on recreating all these players and regardless of that, if that is done, players will still lose all their service time and stat, which means for a lot of guys it isn't worth it.

No one is citing obscure stats, but here are some that I'm sure the "common baseball fan" should understand:

.274/.318/.374/.692/.942 - AVG/OBP/SLG/OPS/FLD% for Carlos Triunfel in 6 minor league seasons... How does that line warrant an A potential? Oh right, SCEA doesn't factor in minor league stats, so I'll post his ML line instead - .227/.261/.318/.579... Damn, that's a whole lot worse...

That's fine to have your own personal opinions but if it made sense the people in this area would have made that decision. Ramone explained it in the VERY 2nd post of this thread and said that it would destroy rosters of the future.

I think if you read through the list and had an understanding of these players it would make a ton of sense to you as well.

And as I explained in reference to Russell's post, the rosters can be "destroyed" in a ton of ways already available to us, allowing the editing of potential would change NOTHING.

Not to be argumentative, but to show how subjective potentials are. This is the minor stat lines of a A prospect for OSFM. Granted its a small sample..

I don't quite think you understand the point of the thread then.

It has nothing to do with way producers and developers do there job.

They have a huge amount of work to do, we pointed out some inconsistencies we saw that made no sense. The guys doing the roster update can make the choice to implement them if they agree or ignore them.

I think its silly to disregard a valid discussion like you are in favor of "the developers know everything", but to each their own.
