Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

    Made a pitcher Kou Kitamura (5'8 164) A power pitcher who's repertoire consist of a Running Fastball/Slider/Cutter.

Got put down to the Generals to start off and got my first start.
Got absolutely slammed in my first inning for 3 runs only made it like 3 innings while spotting them a 4-1 lead. Ended the game with an 8.71 ERA 0 strikeouts 4BB giving up 9 hits and of course a loss. 0-1

2nd game:Got spotted 3 run in the first! Gave up a run in the first inning(Thought I was going to have a repeat performance) then go next 5 innings giving up no runs but 6 hits and finished with 3BB/4 strikeouts/8 hits/1 Earned and get the W 4 to 2. (1-1)

3rd game: Was cooking, through first 6 innings, 5 hits/6ks/1BB 0ER unfortunately I allowed my first HR on a slider which was pretty much a bad ball to swing on but whatever in the 7th which tied up the game got pulled got a no decision and we lost 5-3.

4th game: 2 innings in bruised my hand couldn't finish the game. Team ended up losing 8-1. Had 1hit/3Ks/0BB/0ER

So my stats so far (1-1) 3.41 ERA/16K/8BB/24hits in around 17 IP

Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Been a long time since I posted an update since I'm documenting my RTTS on YouTube, but my first MLB hit came against Strasburg (who was a Texas Ranger). Got injured in that game and missed two months. First HR was a Grand Slam in Seattle vs. the King, Felix Hernandez. My first walkoff was a towering blast vs. the Brewers (who are my favorite ball club). Not a bad start I must say. Hoping to get rookie of the year even though I missed two months with an injury and mist of a slump right before the All-Star game.

Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I just finished my 4th season in the bigs and I figured maybe I should post kind of a comprehensive career stats/achievements type thing so far. I'll keep it brief for the minors and expand a little bit on the MLB stuff. I play all games, every season (on All-Star hitting, I adjusted the difficulty through the minors and up to the majors to ensure the hitting remained at All-Star)

            Trey Griffey, CF, Colorado Rockies

I entered the draft and was chosen by Colorado. My first season I played in AA/AAA/MLB and it went as such:

            2013 AA: .15 games, 65 ABs. 338/.343/.585 with 3 HR and 18 RBI.

After 15 games I got the call up to AAA...

            2013 AAA: 109 games, 440 ABs, .402/.411/.843 with 51 homers and 123 RBI

In AAA I played in the All-Star game and the Futures game. After the AAA season ended I was a September call-up to the big club and I managed this in a small sample size:

            2013 MLB: 21 games, 85 ABs. .329/.345/.471 with 2 HR and 14 RBI.

I made sure I was able to keep my rookie eligibility because I wanted to start out the 2014 season on the MLB team and have a ROTY type campaign. I would have given myself an injury if I was in danger of going over 130 ABs lol. I honestly don't remember if the Rockies made the playoffs this year, but I wasn't playoff eligible regardless, and they certainly didn't win anything. Onto the next one...

2014 spring training came around and I did make the big league roster, however it was as a backup. I really wanted to start the whole season to maximize my ROTY chances (this was very important to me to win the ROTY since you only get one chance at it). So I gave the guy in front of me an injury for one advancement period, just long enough to take his starting job lol. I started the whole season

            2014 MLB: 153 games, 592 ABs. .275/.309/.505 (.814 OPS) with 32 HRs and 97 RBI. 163 hits, 84 runs, 24 2B, 8 3B. 20 BB/189 K's (OUCH). 34 steals on 47 attempts.

I competed in the HR derby but lost in the finals, I made the NL All-Star team as a reserve, and yes, I won my coveted ROTY. Also joined the 30/30 club as a rookie. Unfortunately the Rockies missed the playoffs (I can't remember the record and there's no way to look it up).

Year 2 in the bigs I almost succombed to the sophomore slump. I struggled mightily the 1st half of the year (was hitting in the .240's for a big chunk of the year), but managed to turn it on in the 2nd half and save my year.

            2015 MLB: 157 games, 616 ABs. .281/.301/.503 (.805 OPS) with 32 HRs and 103 RBI. 173 hits, 99 runs, 27 2B, 7 3B. 16 BB/158 Ks (you can see my weakness is plate discipline lol). 42 steals on 49 attempts.

Due to my slumping performance in the 1st half I did not make the All-Star team (or HR Derby), and did not receive any accolades at the end of the season. The Rockies missed the playoffs again, actually losing the 2nd wild card on the final game of the season .

Year 3. I wanted to have a breakout campaign, and didn't want to miss another All-Star game by playing like crap for the 1st half.

            2016 MLB: 160 games, 644 ABs. .311/.344/.612 (.956 OPS) with 46 HRs and 119 RBIs. 200 hits, 112 runs, 40 2B, 8 3B. 32 BB/141 K (getting slightly better here). 43 steals on 53 attempts

This season everything clicked for Trey. Made the All-Star team as a starter, won the HR Derby. Led the league in HR, triples, hits, runs, and slugging %. Joined the 40/40 club. Trey won his first career MVP award, as well as his first Silver Slugger and first Gold Glove. The success wasn't just personal either, as the Rockies went 98-64, won the NL West, then stormed through the playoffs on some unbelievable pitching by Tommy Hanson (I was baffled) and others. They faced the Yankees in the World Series and won (SWEEP!). Troy Tulowitzki won the WS MVP and playoff MVP. Trey Griffey had a strong contribution as well though. My damn playoff stats don't save, but I hit around .320 with 8 HRs in the playoffs. Troy hit over .400 though and took home the hardware.

In the offseason I was offered a long term deal, but wanted to experience arbitration (and not get tied into a long term deal until I reach free agency). I asked for 18 million in arbitration, but received $12.5m after my MVP campaign.

Year 4, Trey wanted to repeat his strong performance from 2016 while further improving in his plate discipline, his one glaring weak spot.

            2017 MLB: 160 games, 651 ABs. .307/.340/.594 (.934 OPS) with 46 HRs and 106 RBIs. 200 hits, 122 runs, 31 2B, 9 3B. 33 BB/124 Ks (still bad but again, a step up from the year prior). 43 steals on 53 attempts.

Trey took small steps back in average, OBP, slugging, OPS, RBI, and doubles this year, while making a small improvement in BB/K and runs scored, and staying strangely exactly the same in hits, steals and attempted steals. His biggest problem was hitting with RISP, which is why his RBIs are so low. For some reason he had a ton of bad luck with RISP that he hopes won't continue next season.

He had another strong year though, made the All-Star team as a starter again, led the league in runs scored, but was robbed of his Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards. The Rockies as a team took a step back though, going 85-77 and missing the playoffs. A big part of this was due to Tulo only playing 98 games, missing a bunch with different injuries.

In the offseason the Rockies offered arbitration, then offered a 1 year deal for $10 million. After watching the team struggle last season, I decided to actually offer to sign for a 1 year, $5m deal and see if the Rockies could do any damage in FA with the extra cash, and also make me more tradeable. I've already decided after my 6 years are up I want to leave Colorado and play somewhere fresh, probably in the AL. By this time CarGo and Tulo will both be declining, and our run will likely be over. I would also welcome a trade before then, if it was to the right team. But nobody can really trade for my big contract other than the Yankees, Red Sox or Dodgers. So playing on the smaller contract might make things more interesting if the Rockies are losing at the All-Star break and want to sell.

Looking over our roster for 2018, Tulo (age 33 now) dropped from a 99 to a 91, so I'm guessing he's got about 2 decent years left before he's one of those guys who drops 15 points per season. CarGo is still a 99 for now, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop 10 points or so next offseason.

On the bright side, David Dahl FINALLY made the leap. He went from a 74 to a 91 in one offseason and he's going to start in RF this year. So our outfield is stacked. Hopefully I can bring one more WS title to the Rockies and then say my farewells, go to a new team and try to do it all over again.

I'll keep this updated hopefully as I go along, probably keep doing year by year recaps if anyone is interested.

Major career stats to this point (through age 22):

            651 games played, 2,588 ABs, .295/.325/.553 (.878 OPS). 158 HR, 439 RBI. 764 total hits, 425 runs scored, 128 doubles, 32 triples. 168 SB on 211 attempts. 103 BB/629 K's.

Can anybody give me one good reason why we can only see the roster foundation/transactions during the offseason?

Anyone know why some of my time at short stop is being simmed. I can see my guy is still in for a few more plays.

Do you have it on only fielding plays you are involved in? That could be a reason.

Made my guy Renaldo Cruz, a third baseman drafted by the yankees. Can't wait to see myself in pinstripes playing for the yankees if I ever get there. I batted .346 with 7 homers and 36 rbis in Trenton AA before getting called up after the second advancement period before June. I struggled in AAA Scranton before catching fire after a week. There's a log jam though at 3B with ARod (lol) dominating and Luis Cruz starting in Scranton. My guy is number 16, which is retired on the yanks so when i get called up will it automatically change or do i have to change it myself? Can't wait to rep one of the best franchises in sports

Just started my first RTTS with Kaylen Jones, a LHB who plays 3B/1B. Got drafted by the New York Mets, so hopefully I won't get stuck behind Wright too long.

It's been a pretty long journey in Double-A, much longer than I expected. But I think a call-up is near (less than a week before next goals). So far, in 64 games, Jones is hitting .337 with 13 HRs and 66 RBIs. 94 hits, including 25 doubles and 5 triples. Not the most patient guy around, with only 3 BB, and 40 SO.

JONES FINALLY MAKING HIS TRIPLE-A DEBUT !

June 24th, 2013 - The New York Mets announced that they've traded 3B Zach Lutz to the Los Angeles Dodgers, finally opening a spot at the Triple-A level for Kaylen Jones. About freakin' time ! This should officially end Jones' Double-A career, where he maintained a .343 average, with 27 doubles, 5 triples, 16 homeruns and 78 RBIs in 71 games.

Jones joined the Las Vegas 51s just in time to play his first Triple-A game on the 25th. It was a tough start for the 22-years old, who was batting 4th, reaching late counts in his first four ABs, but failing to record a hit in the first 7 innings. Things went uphill from there, as Jones recorded 3 singles in his next three ABs, socring the tying run in the 9th in a 14 innings 7-6 win for the 51s.
