Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Ok so a couple things I could use insight on. I am a 3b in the giants organization. As soon as I make it to the majors the giants trade posey, bumgartner, Sandoval, belt and pence. Now we are in the 2014 season and 12 GB because all the talent is gone. I'm leading in hr, RBI and hits. Batting around .450. The only logic I can find into then trading all the talent is that they are anticipating paying me a big salary so they had to clear out the expensive contracts. Can someone offer insight into why they traded all the all stars after I came in board?

It's locked when you're not signed in online or you have a lot of points already just sitting there

That's kinda of a bummer. I'll have my right fielders secondary positions be IF. As close as I can get.

Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Forgive me for asking a dumb question that's probably been answered countless times. I've searched around here, though, and I haven't seen the answer.

My RTTS pitcher currently has the following ratings

            4SFB: 99MPH
            v: 99
            c: 99
            b: 71

            CH: 87MPH
            v: 80
            c: 99
            b: 96

            CB: 80MPH
            v: 78
            c: 99
            b: 99

My question is, for these pitches to be optimized, do I want to max them out (99, 99, 99), or do I want to leave variance in velocity. I don't want to throw a 97MPH changeup. If I max it out to 99, is that what's going to happen?

While we're on the subject, if you DON'T want to max them out, what are the ideal settings for each pitch?

Thanks for any and all input.

I had an at-bat last night that gave me the 57 game hit streak record. In that at-bat, I hit my 62nd HR. What did the commentators highlight? That it was my 98th career home run. That's it. I love the realism of the show, and I can't blame them for this oversight. But man, it would have been cool for the announcers to say something about the hit streak record and breaking Ruth's HR record in the same at-bat.

Home run record is at 73 by Bonds and it was Maris that had 61 not Ruth. But the hit streak is cool though.

                    My 3 pitches:
                    Fastball
                    Cutter
                    Curveball

What attribute(s) are most important to each one?

                    EX-Fastball I'm guessing it's velocity and speed(movement isn't important at all,meaning having 20 movement or 90 movement won't make a positive difference?)

Would velocity make a big difference to cutter and curveball? And what about movement on my curve?

Perry Olivers first season in the bigs as so far been a succesful one, compiling a 3.38 ERA over 117.1 innings. Even though Perry doesnt have the better stats, or better skills as Cueto or Latos, he was promoted to be the Ace of the team. Oliver has an 83:41 K:BB ratio so far this season. So far it is looking like a big payday is coming at the end of the season, and hopefully a chance to start for a World Series contender.

Update on Pittsburgh Pirates 1B Jeff Chapman

The 2014 season is in the books. After taking the starting job a few weeks prior to the All-Star game, Chapman hit .245 with 19 HRs, 45 RBIs and 38 Runs. He finished second in the NL for Rookie of the year, Marlins RF Ken Guthrie claimed the title. The Pirates finished well out of the playoffs with a 77-85 record. The World Series was a rematch from the previous year with the Braves downing the Rangers in 5 to enact revenge.

The off-season brought contract negotiations which ended with a 2 year 1.2 million dollar contract for the MLB starter role. The Pirates also signed Melky Cabrera to help out the outfield and offense.

After a successful Spring Training, the Pirates opened their season in Cincinnati against the Reds on a Tuesday night as the first game of the year for all of the MLB. The game was intense with a tie that lasted until the 19th inning when Pedro Alvarez hit a 2 RUN double at the top of the inning.

So far exciting season. I look forward to tearing the league up through all of 2015.

                          - No playoffs

                          2015
                          - MLB Closer (41/48 saves)

                          - All Star selection
                          - Lost closing job in July and relegated to Set Up
                          - Won ALDS
                          - Won ALCS
                          - Won WS (I pitched 3 scoreless innings late in the clinching game and got credited with the win that won us the WS)

                          2017
                          - MLB Closer (36/40 saves)
                          - All Star selection
                          - No Playoffs

                          2018
                          - MLB Closer (56/58 saves)
                          - All Star selection
                          - AL DMOTY
                          - AL Saves Leader
                          - Lost ALDS (I didn't get in a game)

                          2019
                          - MLB Closer (57/58 saves)
                          - All Star selection
                          - AL DMOTY
                          - AL Saves leader
                          - Lost ALDS (Once again I didn't get in a game)

                          2020
                          - Traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for old 68 OVR CP Jim Johnson
                          - MLB Closer
                          - All Star selection

I am unhappy with the Dodgers because they are not using me right and are constantly bringing me into the game when it's tied in the 7th.

Should make the playoffs this year and hopefully I'll get to close out a playoff game.

I believe I will be a UFA this off season. I hope to sign with LAA. They have both Harper and Trout in their prime and I could win some things jumping on that train.

Imagine how crazy this must be to see!

                            In my past 2 starts:
                            14 innings pitched
                            5 runs allowed
                            1 EARNED RUN

My team has had a total of 5 errors!

My bullpen has allowed a total of 5 runs in the innings they've pitched these past 2 games.

My first season will be abit bad to see cause I've played enough games to no longer qualify for a rookie after this year, but I'm not gonna play enough innings to qualify for league leaders. So I'm not winning rookie of the year(since the rookies who are in the running, have played since opening day) or even gonna be a leader in any category.

So after getting so fed up and frustrated with my shortstop on the Mariners, I decided to start over.

                              John Billings, SS, Baltimore Orioles

I want to get him to the bigs towards the end of the 1st year, so that he can try and earn the starting role, but play less than 130 ABs so he will be eligible for ROTY in year 2.

I've been playing on veteran and the stats he's putting up are RIDICULOUS. I could up the difficulty but I am hoping these ridiculous numbers will help him get promoted sooner.

Through 49 games he's batting .477 with 26 homers and 83 RBIs. Slugging .958 with an .OPS of 1.433. He's also got 19 stolen bases but he did that in the first 2 weeks or so, I turned baserunning opportunities (as well as defense) so I could get through the minors as quickly as possible. When I get to the Show I'll turn baserunning and defensive opportunities back on.

So far I've made it through 2 advancement periods with no promotion. I'm thinking the 3rd time will be a charm.

Once I get to the Bigs I doubt he will put up such insane numbers, but if he does I will bump the difficulty. I care about realism, just not in the minor leagues lol.

My RTTS pitcher currently has the following ratings

                                4SFB: 99MPH
                                v: 99
                                c: 99
                                b: 71

                                CH: 87MPH
                                v: 80
                                c: 99
                                b: 96

                                CB: 80MPH
                                v: 78
                                c: 99
                                b: 99

My question is, for these pitches to be optimized, do I want to max them out (99, 99, 99), or do I want to leave variance in velocity. I don't want to throw a 97MPH changeup. If I max it out to 99, is that what's going to happen?

While we're on the subject, if you DON'T want to max them out, what are the ideal settings for each pitch?

Thanks for any and all input.
Is there a better place to post this question? Or can someone answer it? Thanks.
