Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Started my RttS career a couple of days ago and I'm quite baffled how realistic it is. /sarcasm

I'm in the middle of August in my 1st year (1B, started out with Cubs organization, traded to Marlins), these are my stats:

    .490 / 42 HR / 147 RBI

    2nd place in each category: .356 / 25 HR / 101 RBI

I've amassed 246 hits, I've hit 65 doubles, scored 121 runs and I have an OPS of 1.369.

One would think I should have gotten called up to the MLB a while ago.

Nope, still obliterating the opposition in Double-A while I keep getting messages from my Manager saying "It looks like you're ready for the next step in your career, but we don't have an available roster spot open at this time."

    Sounds plausible, doesn't it?

If you don't like how long your playing in the minors, sim it till you get called up.

Edit: also the game won't call you up if your stats are not realistic.

Are people sure HR/9 attribute doesn't impact anything? Cause I don't allow much hits(around 1 or so an inning) but when I do, it's almost always a double or more.

I'd rather be allowing like 9-10 base hits per game than 6-7 doubles.

          Perry Oliver, 20
          6'5
          218 pounds

After a strong showing in spring training, Perry Oliver will take the mound for the Reds as the 3rd pitcher in the rotation. Oliver appears to be one of the best prospects to start on a major league team this year, and is also playing for one of the best teams in the majors. The Reds will start the year as the 2nd best team, and hopes are high. The Cardinals are right behind at 3rd overall, but the rest of the divison looks rather weak ranked around the bottom half of the league. Oliver will turn to his first three pitches while he still works on his 4th pitch, the circle change. Breaking news updates will come when they happen, and the next big update will came at the all star break.

My first guy did that too. You can read about his woes some pages back, but long story short, he hit less than .130 for 2 straight years in AAA and MLB I finally got pissed enough I deleted him and started over.

No there was no offer from the Marlins. When they didn't offer me I became a FA and no other team wanted me so I was forced to retire.

There's really not much to it. You need a high speed rating, a decent base running ability rating (so you don't trip when stealing), and need to get solid jumps. Stealing 2nd is a given, and stealing 3rd isn't too bad, but definitely much harder. Take an extra step on your lead at 2nd and you should be good. If you want, you can lower the cpu pickoff tendency slider so you can get bigger leads.

I currently have 45 games left in 2015 and am 126/133 on steals, just 5 away from breaking Henderson's record!

Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

Hey guys...got a few questions hoping you all can answer.

I started RTTS at 18 years old for the Dodgers farm system. Started in AA then after a month or so got promoted to AAA. Then in July I got the call to the show.

I never started but made 22 appearances in the bullpen. Ended up sticking with the team all year and we actually won the World Series.

Now once off season starts I'm offered a 1 year deal. I played around and even got as much as a 5 year deal worth 4 million. I never saved it at that point because I did not want to do something I regret.

I know baseball and the thing is they never usually offer contracts like that when your under team control. Should I accept the 1 year deal or what? The one year deal stated for the AAA pitching rotation. I'd rather pitch out of the pen than be stuck in AAA all year long. Thanks

The pitching is harder at the higher levels. You need to improve your vision or else you are going to continue to swing through balls. I had a hard time jumping from AA to AAA this season I have raised my vision 10 points. After the vision increase I am now a .250 hitter instead of a .200 hitter.

With low vision, your swing coverage is small and A LOT smaller at the higher levels which is why you are swinging through balls you would normally hit.

I started one tonight as a RF and got drafted by the Pirates. First game went 0-4 but no strikeouts. Second game went 3-4 with a HR, 2B, 3 RBI. Not too shabby.

I'll probably another one later in the week as a SP.

Quick random question, is there a way to create your RttS player that's a utility player like Ben Zobrist?

Yes he does. I was meaning like a player who can play all OF position & IF positions.

No, it's one or the other. I believe they used to have utility as a second position that was removed several years ago.
