Realistically we think too much of Taveras to trade him unless it's for a star like Stanton, and even then maybe not. Fairness wise, I think you'd have to overpay, which would mean Yelich and Fernandez. You might be able to get away with Yelich+ Nicolino+ another B pitching or infield prospect. We're pretty set with outfielders in either scenario.Comment

Maybe toss in a C or low B for good measure. Yelich fit's the A from the spreadsheet, Nicolino is a High B, and I beleve Hechiverria is a low B, so adding an additional prospect might not hurt. It fits the needs it would open up for the Cards, as we'd want a good replacement outfielder and another shortstop prospect. Adding another highly rated arm like Nicolino would add more depth to the farm also.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for the trade value chart. Also I have been reading some of these and find them quite insightful. So here goes my question. I'm playing as the Yankees and like every other Yankee fan would like to get younger. I started the season with Jeter out til May 1st, Tex and Grandy out til June 6th and A-rod out til July 15th. Would these trade make sense? Also fair? So here goes nothing:
Trade 1 Mid May Padres are 7 GB of the WC and 9 out of the division
Padres Get: SP Phil Hughes (3-1 3.37) SP Ivan Nova (0-1 4.12) SS Eduardo Nuñez (.313 3 HR 7 RBI), 3B Dante Bichette Jr. (.302 2 HR 10 RBI in double-A)
Yankees Get: 3B Chase Headley (.273 1 HR 11 RBI) SP Jason Marquis (0-2 3.88)
Trade 2 Mid June Marlins 13 GB of the WC and 17 GB of the division
Marlins Get: C Gary Sanchez (.328 8 HR 27 RBI in double-A), SP Manny Banuelos (4-2 2.99 in triple-A), RF Tyler Austin (.266 6 HR 19 RBI in double-A), RP Mark Montgomery (1-1 3.01 in triple-A) CF Mason Williams (.289 5 HR 31 RBI in triple-A), 2B David Adams (.255 3 HR 14 RBI in triple-A), RF Thomas Neal (.279 3 HR 10 RBI in triple-A), SP Michael Pineda (7-2 3.13)
Yankees Get: RF Giancarlo Stanton (.259 12 HR 29 RBI), SP Ricky Nolasco (3-5 3.88), SS Adeinys Hechevarria (.251 3 HR 13 RBI)
Trade 3 All Star Break Phillies 1 GB of east, Young out for the year, need a #4-5 pitchers
Phillies get: SP Roy Oswalt (2-0 2.33 picked him after trading Pineda), SP Ricky Nolasco (6-5 3.12, 3-0 with me), 3B Kevin Youkilis (.300 8 HR 27 RBI)
Yankees get: C Tommy Joseph (.275 3 HR 22 RBI in double-A), SP John Lannan (3-8 3.92) Just trimming down my payroll
Trade 4 Deadlineish Giants are 3 games up of division, Giants need help out in Left
Giants Get: LF Curtis Granderson (.274 8 HR 22 RBI came off the DL on June 6th)
Yankees Get: SP Kyle Crick (4-3 3.44)
Trade 5 Deadlineish Mariners surprisingly 6 GB of division 2.5 of WC, trying to shed some money off
Mariners get: 3B Alex Rodriguez (.347 3 HR 14 RBI came off DL on July 15)
Yankees get: SP Anthony Fernandez (5-1 3.88), 3B Joe De Carlo (.282 2 HR 20 RBI)
Trade 6 Deadlineish Cardinals 4 games up of division. Wong out for year.
Cardinals get: 2B Robinson Cano (.317 20 HR 66 RBI) intends to resign with the Cards, CF Slade Heathcott (.308 5 HR, 33 RBI in triple-A)
Yankees get: CF Oscar Taveras (.321 10 HR 38 RBI in triple-A), SP Shelby Miller (3-2 4.04 in the majors), SP Michael Wacha (3-3 3.00 in double-A), SP Carlos Martinez (2-7 4.38 in triple-A), RP Trevor Rosenthal (1-4 3.13), 2B Matt Carpenter (.244 2 HR 11 RBI)
Some of the trades were to bring the payroll down and get younger. Also traded RP Jim Miller to the Giants for RP Steve Edlepsen (Giants needed bullpen help at the deadline, I'm hoping Miller isn't another Kontos) also traded RP Shawn Kelley to the Cards for SS Alex Mejia (they needed help as well). Thinking of unloading CC this offseason, as well as Mark Teixiera not sure to whom yet though. I'm thinking CC to the Mariners, the Mariners are still in the playoff hunt and a 1-2 of the King and CC is not bad. Tex may go back to the National League, I'm thinking the Nats as LaRoche has been horrible this year (.193 3 HR 15 RBI) in mid july right now. Or maybe the Dodgers, they have sent me numerous offers. Would have to unload Gonzo first though. Any thoughts would help, thanks in advance.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
So in my Astros franchise, I got near the trade deadline. I noticed the Phillies had Domonic Brown on the trading block (they traded for Ben Zobrist).
I wanted him, so I offered Kyle Weiland and Jonathan Villar for him. You guys think that is fair?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Turning down a great prospect just because of position isn't something most teams would do, though.
EDIT: Soler + Vizcaino + Baez?
That's completely fine.Last edited by AC; 04-13-2013, 07:03 PM."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I know there have been posts about Giancarlo trades ad nauseam, but with a lot of talk about the Mets possibly making a play for him IRL I can't help but to be curious about what they would have to give up. I know Wheeler and d'Arnaud would be musts, but not sure who else. I was thinking possibly Duda, Puello, Familia, plus maybe one other? I don't know if there would be a way they could get him yet keep d'Arnaud, maybe substitute Buck if he stays hot since Marlins have a young catcher already?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Was looking for an OF/DH player (I am playing w/ DH on since I hate batting w/ pitcher), I am the Marlins, just cleared everything to build a solid core of Profar, Tavaras, Bradley JR, Olt and picked up Salty from Boston w/ Bradley for some Power, but I am still lacking power. I simulated to the next season to start here so the players progressed a little.
My rotation is:
Perez (from TEX)
Turner
Fernandez
Leblanc
Ervin Santana (signed FA)
- Henderson Alvarez was the odd man out, and I noticed that OAK wasn't playing Chris Young. I like his power to even out my lineup so I sent Alvarez for Young since OAK dont have a 5th starter (using some 70 overall scrub) and since they aren't playing Young I felt it was a good baseball trade for both teams. Is this fine?Comment
