Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Ideally, including Story as a base, as I still think this is the most valuable trading asset I'm ready to part with.
Edit: Right now, I'm thinking SP Tyler Anderson (B) or SP Eddie Butler (B), along with SS Trevor Story (A) and something else...I just don't know what else would make a bit of sense.Last edited by KomicJ; 04-16-2013, 09:37 PM.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
OK input please guys (lol like Johnny 5 asking for input here...maybe some of you guys are old enough to get that movie reference). So my Astros 'chise will be approaching the trade deadline shortly. I am currently near the amateur draft in June and have been (miraculously) hovering around .500 (seriously can't seem to get more than 2-3 games above/below .500). I credit this partially (Chris Carter and my bullpen have both been pleasant surprises, and Altuve is 'the guy') to some shrewd pre-season trades I made to shore up the team, specifically bringing in Mike Olt (BA and RBI leader), Kyle McClellan (18 for 18 in SVs, sub 2.00 ERA), Patrick Corbin (7-4 2.78 ERA), and Gerardo Parra (top 5 in AL in BBs, .315, 10-12 SBs). So, basically some judicious trades (before Eaton got hurt and Parra and Corbin actually broke out IRL) got me a middle-of-the-order slugger (Olt), a solid #2 (Corbin), a dynamic lead-off man/defensive CFer (Parra), and a rubber-armed closer (McClellan). If anyone's curious as to the price I paid for any of them, feel free to inquire, but that's not necessarily the point of this post.
The point is, although it looks almost certain I will be nowhere near 100 losses and it's somewhat of a feel good season/miracle, the Rangers have been drinking straight rocket fuel and I'm currently 7 GB or so. If I can't close that gap (the WC doesn't look *much* better currently), I will go into sell mode.
Now the vets I am interested in dealing (and praying for their stats) include:
Carlos Pena (.225 avg, 9 HR, 30 RBI, massive hot streak currently)
Brendan Ryan (.180 avg, 1 HR, 13 RBI, solid D, starting to hit above weight)
Jason Castro (.150 avg, 1 HR, 10 RBI, solid D, great in the running game)
Erik Bedard (2-5, 6+ ERA, ....)
Phil Humber (5-2, 4.10 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, been on fire recently)
Kyle McClellan (1.95 ERA, 18/18 SVs, best closer in MLB stat-wise)
OK, so with that in mind and seeing that there's still ~ 1 month to go to see about records/stats/injuries/team needs etc...I thought up the following deals, so please opine on the fairness/realism:
TRADE 1:
Astros get - Dee Gordon
Dodgers get - Brad Peacock + Brendan Ryan
TRADE 2:
Astros get - Wilson Ramos
Nats get - Jason Castro + Takashi Saito (if Kurt Suzuki keeps starting and their bullpen stays bad)
TRADE 3:
Astros get - Yordano Ventura + Greg Holland + Jarrod Dyson
Royals get - Jordan Lyles + Erik Bedard + Kyle McClellan
TRADE 4:
Astros get - D.J. Davis
Jays get - Phil Humber + Carlos Pena (Pena to play 1st, E5 to DH, Lind to ?)
I adhered pretty strictly to the spreadsheet for the MLBer for MLBer deals. Though I didn't really know what D.J. Davis is worth/his pot etc...
Anyway with loose regard to fit, and not knowing records, anyone have any preliminary feelings on these? Maybe ranking them from best--> worst or going item by item, whatever works...Of course any suggestions on how I can improve these are most welcome! I would like to think these through before doing the deed in about 1 video game month from now.
Thanks gents!Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

1. Trade 3 - I like Yordano and Holland
2. Trade 2 - Ramos is cheap/solid C
3. Trade 1 - Carlos Correa could start next yr.
4. Trade 4 - Have no idea who D.J. Davis is.Comment
