Throw over D'Arnaud and Harvey haha.... But in all seriousness two or 3 solid B's would do. Is Nimmo a B?

Yeah, Bruce Chen seems like he's been around/awful forever...I remember him pitching alongside Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz in ATL. Never the best option.

If I were you, I'd stay internal. Duffy is hurt, but how about John Lamb or Will Smith?

If you don't like those options, in addition to AC's list, you could try (from most to least expensive to acquire):

Tom Milone (more like a 3-ish starter on a contender)
Patrick Corbin (I like him a lot)
      Zach Britton
      Clayton Richard
      Travis Wood
      Wade Leblanc
      Chris Capuano
      Erik Bedard (yuck)

You have a TON of trade chips in the bullpen and some IF/OF trade options...(Holland, Collins, Crow, Coleman, Herrera, Getz, Cain, Dyson, Giavotella, Falu), so finding the right deal should be easy. My opinion, KC is the most fun team to trade from/with because they have so few untouchables and so many valuable, young trade chips.

IMO most of these guys are either much more expensive than a #4 type or just plain terrible lol. Capuano and Richard are good ideas, though.

        May I suggest Ted Lilly?

Lilly's not a bad option either.

Well Milone wouldn't come cheap. But the other guys are all low B or cheaper on the spreadsheet, so none of them would require a king's ransom. I added in Bedard just in case the asker wanted someone who can be had basically for free!

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I did a fantasy draft as the Padres and made my team pitching heavy. My starters are Strasburg/M. Harvey/Masterson/Edwin Jackson/A. Meyer...my bullpen is solid.

I am 4-1 but I haven't been able to score more than 3 runs in a game thus far.

So I threw some trade offers around and have this one as a possibility:

            I give:
            Paul Konerko
            Strasburg
            Jackie Bradley

            I get:
            Mike Trout
            Ryan Howard
            Brandon McCarthy

            SHould I make this trade?

It's a big drop in my starter...but a big gain in offense i feel

            ANy thoughts are appreciated

My opinion is Minor would be out of the price range for a back-end guy. Too young, too good, too key on a contending team. Spreadsheet would agree! Both Minor and Milone are obtainable but more for the price of a #3.

Really up to you....this thread is about trades in general but people are most inclined to help with fair/realistic trades. When you do fantasy draft, those both go out the window, and on top of it the best young pitcher and best young position player in the game wouldn't ever be traded. So, Trout/Strasburg deals are tough to analyze. On top of that this deal would be a massive ripoff for the other team because Trout > Strasburg, Howard > Konerko, and McCarthy > Bradley Jr.

If you feel you need the help on offense, go for it, but it's not really a fair or realistic deal (and there's really nothing you can do to fix that ).

Minor IS young, I'll give you that lol. But he's only been a slightly above league average starter the past couple years and isn't really key when you have depth like Atlanta does.

No. No no no. No. Konerko is far more valuable. His old player skills have completely blocked a decline and Howard fell off a cliff. He's alright, though, he landed on his big fluffy ridiculous contract.

McCarthy's a good pitcher but he's DL-prone, coming off brain surgery, and Bradley Jr. is a top-100 prospect. Highly disagree with these.

I agree. He is expendable for Atlanta especially if Teheran starts developing.

I give the edge to the 33 year old over the 37 year old. Howard was bad/hurt last year, but MAN are people forgetting he hit 30+ HRs for 6 straight seasons before last year (and 45+ in 4 of them). HE'S NOT WORTHLESS!!!!!!! Both of them are overpaid (Howard moreso obviously). And they both have "old person" skills.

Pitchers don't need brains to pitch, right? lol. Bradley got exposed in MLB and McCarthy is still sneaky good. Close to equal, slight edge to McCarthy for me on who's better. Though you are right that Bradley has better long-term value.

All of this is irrelevant however since the main piece of the deal is Trout for Strasburg.

BIG IF!! LOL. Have you seen how he's doing so far? Scouts say no breaking ball, fastball is too straight....Plus Vizcaino and Delgado were recently dealt away.

When have you ever known the Braves to give up young starters for discount prices? Aside from Tommy Hanson whose shoulder is made of pudding.

True you have good points. I'm not saying minor will be given away for free but I think it would be less value than some of those other players. Also I just like Teheran, I know I shouldn't, but I overvalue him sometimes.

Howard's BB% is declining, his K% is still stupid high (33% last year), his ISO is decreasing, his wOBA was Arencibian (.303), he has no spot on the diamond, and was a -1.1 win player in just 71 games last year. That's not worth 20M a year lol.

Konerko's BB% is still above league average, his K% is completely fine, his ISO is dropping but not a main part of his game, and he continues to get on base. He's cheaper than Howard, more effective, and hasn't dropped off a cliff yet.

McCarthy's wife is pretty nice but he's an injury prone #3. He's not worth JBJ lol.
