Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Using Seattle looking to add a OF bat.

    Guy's I am interested in

    C. Crawford or Either (LA)
    C. Maybin (SD)
    C. Young JR or Gonzo (Rockies)
    M. Holliday (Cards)

Here is what I found so far.

San Diego would deal Maybin for T. Wilhemsen (my closer) and I figured I would throw in a OF prospect like Peguero or maybe a RP like DJ Mitchell

LA would deal Crawford for anyone on my team and for Either they wanted some type of 2B. So pretty much a package that included either Romero 74 (B) or even AA T. Lopes (B) or J. Marder 69 (B) who is listed as a 2B/C.
    with E. Rameriz 80 SP (B).

Colorado also wanted a 2B or 1B and also like Romero or Marder for either Young, Fowler or Colvin.

For Gonzo. They wanted 1B Smoak, SP Ramirez and I could pretty much put anyone in the 3rd spot. (I was thinking Noesi or Bevin or maybe Marder or a AA SP like Pike.

For Holliday they wanted a SS and liked both Triunfel or Miller along with Rameriz and a lefty SP I pluged in Saunders and they would except but felt like maybe giving up Hultzen would be more fair. I really Miller so I would probably be more willing to give up Hultzen if it was Triunfel in the deal.

Would love some feed back. Also thinking of doing 2 deals. 1 for the power hitter (Gonzo or Holliday) and 1 for a speed guy like Fowler or Young.

Erm, no, they're both lefties, and we wouldn't give up our one legit 2B prospect for a platoon player. Hence I'm calling this unfair.

Vinnie Catricala (24 yr old low C-POT LF) to the Royals for Luker Hochevar?

        And

Carson Smith (23 yr old B-POT CP) to the A's for Sean Doolittle? (Balfour is 35, so I figured they could use a CP prospect, and I already have Carter Capps)

I'm not sure Doolittle would be traded right to, tbh, but it's not worth losing hair over.

Both the Fowler and Young Jr have been solid- great all year long and i would like to flip one to the Royals since they are only 1.5 out of wild card and there team only lacks a reliable leadoff hitter/ center fielder

What could i potentially get from them for either of these guys?

I likely will unload both at some point because the Cubs and Meta are also in need. Obviously the Royals are my preferred destination but i just want a good deal.

I'm looking for young bullpen arms but really any prospect will do.

I think i am more interested in unloading Young first.

                Any ideas?

Mentioned how McCann is heading into free agency and is a solid for a an American League team where he could catch a few games a week and DH the rest. The Yankees was mentioned as an option but let's leave it there...point is, for the O's, he'd be the main DH since he has a bum shoulder and Wieters is the superior defender. Guess he could catch like 1-2 days per week though to get Wieters a break. I don't think it's and ideal fit but it could most certainly work in the world of The Show

Venters doesn't carry much value with his so-so 2012 and arm trouble to begin 2013. McCann, Medlen, Beachy, JR Graham and maybe another lesser prospect for Machado. Keep in mind that McCann is a free agent after 2013 and that he'd be a rental for the O's so I wouldn't value him that highly since he might skip town to the land of dollars
                    Great advice. Thank you.

I didn't even consider the rental aspect for McCann. I was going to make sure they offered him a contract. I agree that it isn't a good fit.

You going for fairness or realism? Both?

I'd drop Carter Capps (instead of Wilhelmsen) and Peguero to the Padres for Maybin. Getting a young stud arm like Capps for their pen would allow them to trade Street. I think it's crucial that they get an OF back as well in the deal so Peguero would work like you proposed.

With Holliday and CarGo...well it's here where the fairness/realism comes in. I'd opt for CarGo myself as he's younger. Smoak is a nice cornerstone for the deal. Take your pick with Hultzen/Walker as the second piece and then add Nick Franklin. Might wanna add another young arm for their pen as well like Stephen Pryor

Was Machado a target of yours because he plays SS? Because you just in general want a young middle infielder?

You might have given it a thought already but what about McCann to the Dodgers? Would slide in as the no 1 behind the plate and you could try get Dee Gordon back.

It's just not a chance the Rockies should be taking at the cost of Dexter Fowler imo.

I chose Machado because he is young and can play 3B. I love his glove and his potential ceiling. Watched him coming up through the minors for the last few years (IRL), so it's really just a love affair above all else.

I hadn't thought about Gordon. That is a good idea, but would give me two starter worthy SS's that don't play a secondary position. I could always move one of them to 3B, though.
