I am the cubs and wondering what i could get for Dan Vogelbach as rizzo will be a mainstay for awhile, what would he get me in a trade and who would be a good fit? and if not that could he catch or play 3b?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Gregorius definitely is in the Diamondbacks future plans but it's clear they want him at SS.
Some options at 2B include Daniel Murphy, Rickie Weeks and MAYBE Ian Kinsler (there would be some set conditions though).
Weeks and Murphy can be easily had though.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm the Orioles (yes another dynasty) and at the end of April I am in first place, I need to upgrade my 2B Postion and 3 Hole in the lineup. I am not ready to make a trade yet but if my team starts to struggle I want to have a move ready so I can stay in contention so I am considering Chase Utley.
The spreadsheet says 2 High C's but I was wondering if a low-mid B like Delmonico work considering Utley is struggling so far and the Phils look like they will be sellers (Already 8 games out of first)?
Any other suggestions for who I should pursue, mind you I am not trying to sell the farm but I like have Markakis in the 1 or 2 hole and I want someone with a little more power at 3. I really would prefer a rental since they will be cheaper and Schoop will be my second baseman next year.
Note: I traded Roberts to Royals for a 27 D reliever who I cut so that I could clear some budget space (I realize Roberts wasn't making much in-game but I can't hit with and didn't want him batting 9). Also remember I am not making a trade just yet but if I start to struggle (the signs are there: scoring less allowing more) I'd like to have a move ready to make.
You're really not going to find a 2B that is good enough to hit 3rd this early in the season (maybe not ever). You are more likely to find someone who can hit 9th and play 2B, and you'd upgrade at some other spot to fill the 3-hole. Adam Jones, Matt Wieters, Nick Markakis, and Chris Davis are all guys that could legitimately see some time in the 3-hole. Machado is also a possibility if you hit well with him.
If you end up waiting and trading for Utley, I'd think the Phillies could use 2B, 3B and/or OF prospects. They have Howard for the forseeable future at 1B, and he's actually playing well IRL. Also, they have Darin Ruf who's already blocked by Howard. I'd also suggest giving them 2 high C's as opposed to one slightly higher prospect. They need depth. If Utley's performing well, you'd probably need to offer a bit more.
I'm not sure what his pot is in the game, but if you sell now, you're really selling low.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 05-09-2013, 10:42 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Vogelbach can absolutely not play C or 3B. He can barely play 1B. He's best suited to DH honestly. So I'd look at AL clubs. Problem with doing this is that Vogelbach has yet to log much time above low A ball, and his bat is his only tool, so teams aren't going to take a chance and trade for a guy like that. They'll wait to see if his bat plays are higher levels, against curve balls etc...If he were more "toolsy," he'd be easier to deal.

lmao i know his weight is a problem and he's really just a hitter, i guess il stick him in aa or aaa, but if his bat does translate well to that level could i get anything for him? even a young pitcher?Comment

Re: Vogelbach
Like I said, I'm not sure what his pot is in game and I'm too lazy to check the OSFM Cubs thread. I assume he'd be a high C/low B. Thing is, if he were to mash in your minors for a year or two, you could probably get a nice little haul for him--much more than you could get now.
So, you could deal him to an AL team right now in theory and get back a high C or low B pitcher, but it's not like Voggy is going to help a club at the MLB level right away, so you're probably not going to get an MLB-quality pitcher, and certainly not from a contender.
In other words you'd be looking at burning a nice prospect chip for someone like:
Jair Jurrjens, Brian Matusz, Josh Tomlin, Bartolo Colon, AJ Griffin, Joe Saunders, Jeff Niemann, Kyle Drabek, or JA Happ
Basically you're limited to AL non-contending teams or spare parts on contending teams in the high C-low B range.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Cubs chise, really wanting to bolster the farm with some young arms....looking at dealing szcur, maybe junior lake, matt garza, scott baker, and brett jackson (let me know if unrealistic) would any of these or a combination of them get me anywhere from a low a pitcher to a few bs?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
No marquee 2B (like Utley) will be available before the deadline...to be realistic you will have to wait. You could go for a backup or lesser 2B before then, however. People have mentioned a couple of good options (either Weeks, anyone on the Mets, Logan Forsythe, Mike Aviles, Chris Getz, Dan Uggla).
You're really not going to find a 2B that is good enough to hit 3rd this early in the season (maybe not ever). Also does anyone really feel that weeks would be a cheaper option?Comment

Looking to trade for Dan Straily of the Oakland Athletics. According to the spreadsheet, he's worth a mid/low B. I'm the Blue Jays and don't know which player to give up for him.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm a few days away from the trade deadline in my Yankees franchise and am looking to trade Kevin Youkilis. I don't really have any use for him besides pinch hitting every now and then. I would like to bring in a young relief pitcher or two if possible. Any suggestions on who I should try and get?Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
July 15th in my Rangers franchise, and I thought all was lost. I finished June sitting 13 out of the Wild Card Race, and was already planning on trades, as figured I'd be selling at the deadline. Well, I started the month of July going 11-3, working my way to 9 out of the Wild Card Race? I have a few questions:
#1:
Do I still plan on selling, or make a trade to fix a problem in my lineup, and hope to come back and make a playoff push?
#2:
If I should sell, I think I may trade Nelson Cruz. IRL he's more than likely not going to be a Ranger next season..., so I thought I would get something for him rather than just letting him walk this offseason. Thinking of sending him to the Phillies (1 game out of the wild card race, and 25th in the league in HR's, so I feel they might like another big bat in the lineup). Thoughts? If this seems realistic in any way, would getting Freddy Galvis + Tommy Joseph be ok? Or is that too much?
I'm also still unsure on that Kinsler situation. He may be sold, if I end up selling at the deadline. Not sure where to send him yet. I'd still like some more opinions on this. Thoughts? He's playing pretty well at 1st, but his production at the plate is really nothing special for a 1st baseman.
#3:
If I push for the playoffs, I need a big bat. A DH. Berkman is falling apart on me. He hit close to .400 in April, but since then he has steadily gotten worse and worse. Age must be setting in. I need production from my DH. I have no idea who to get though. I'm pretty much willing to trade anybody (other than the obvious guys). Thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance to everybody.Mavericks
