Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I've been a fan of what you guys do for a while now and I've never posted just observed for a long time. I'm playing as the rangers as you can see and I'm wanting to add some new pieces to my team. I've listed a few players of what to start with but just need some help. This has had my brain stuck for quiet some time.

Cliff Lee- Olt with another player maybe a mid level pitcher. I take on all of his salary.

David Price- Not sure what the Rays want but would be a great pitcher.

Chris Sale- Maybe Profar or Olt but not sure. I really like pitching with him he's a great pitcher. I would add Harrison too but hesistant about including Profar.

Santon-Profar and others. I know he would cost a lot but would solve my problem. I would add David Murphy too.

Felix Hernandez. I know he won't be traded but I would include Profar, Harrison, Perzez and others

I'm open to others if people have a suggestion. I need another top pitcher and a big bat too. Harrison just doesn't work

Do Profar + Olt + Alfaro + Grimm for Price. That one's been talked about a lot. Obviously you don't have the assets to get more than one of these guys you mentioned most likely. Though, you may be able to get Cliff Lee using other prospects...

I'm pretty sure it's not possible to get a top pitcher AND a top hitter of the caliber you mention even though the Rangers have a solid farm system, so to be fair, you'd have to pick one or the other.

If you don't like Harrison, I'd suggest trading him in a package with a prospect or two for a bat (lower profile than Stanton of course).

Just past the all-star break in my Mets franchise and surprisingly I'm battling with Wahington for the division title. Now me not expecting to be in this situation traded away david wright and need a new 3B for a playoff run. Also I can't trade wheeler or D'arnaud because they are just way to important to me now. I did get Anthony Gooseman in the offseason and would be willing to include him in a trade. So any idea's on who i could get.

Ahh ok. What kind of bat would you suggest for Harrison?

Or if you do want 2 of those. You could trade Harrison and Murphy for more prospects then flip them with some of your prospects in another deal. However like WTNY said its unlikely you will get 2

OK, well since I don't know your prospect ratings then, I'd just suggest giving the Angels a B prospect at one of these positions: 3B, C, OF, SP. Bryce Brentz might be a good fit if you have him. Ryan Lavarnway also.

For the C-level part, you could give them a surplus starter you have in the majors, someone like Franklin Morales, Alfredo Aceves, or Felix Doubront.

                  Some 3B's that might help:

                  Juan Francisco (ATL)
                  Josh Donaldson (OAK)
                  Mike Olt (TEX)
                  Trevor Plouffe (MIN)
A-Rod (NYY) [could have him for free or even take a so-so prospect back with him]
                  Placido Polanco (MIA)

Going by the spreadsheet, Harrison is worth 2 mid B's. Some fits might be:

                  Michael Brantley (CLE)
                  J.J. Hardy (BAL)
                  Brian McCann (ATL)
                  Rickie Weeks (MIL)
                  Justin Morneau (MIN)
                  Pedro Alvarez (PIT)

Not all of these guys would be realistic options, but this is the skill-level you'd be looking at in return for Harrison. Basically vets that have had decent success but their best years are behind them. Or younger players with significant warts, like bad defense or K'ing too much.

AC, that's good name, and if he's not going for realism, a great name.

I left him off because I've been hearing rumblings the Padres are not trading him and want to extend. I'm not sure if the poster was going for realism or not though.

It heavily depends on how he's performing, but something along the lines of Tapia + Nimmo + Flores.

What are some realistic trades for the Yanks? Yanks are pretty much out of it right now and haven't made any moves, any ideas? (Doing a 30 team control trying to do realistic trades for all teams, so if you have any for other teams other then the Indians thats good too)

Headley could be traded if Pads are out of it at the trade deadline. He won't negotiate an extension during the season. Personally, I love Headley. Great player especially in The Show.
