Not unless you're willing to trade Castro, Rizzo, either Jackson, Samardzija, Garza or Barney.

Barney or Garza would make the most sense, since those first five guys aren't going anywhere.

I know k_mac did a Garza for Corey Seager + Zach Lee trade.

And a Carlos Villanueva for Sean Gilmartin from the Braves deal. Both guys were pitching pretty good though, so I got more than spreadsheet value for them.

Just to follow up on that trade, I played a few minor league games, pitching with Lee in AAA, and hitting with Seager in AA, and they're both great. I like the trade even more. Struck out 7 with Lee, and hit a bomb with Seager on the first pitch I saw. Love that trade.

I know you guys don't want to get into another Mike Olt "thing"...but I was just hoping for a yes/no on this deal:

          Norris+Tropeano+Santana+Keuchel for Olt?

Like I said, not trying to start a war, just wanted a quick fair or unfair ruling.

Only thing I'm willing to say is that you generally don't see vet + prospect + prospect + prospect for prospect deals.

Just saying. Traded for him in my dynasty as I'm sure some know. His fielding in CF is 75 so that's well above average. And again this is a video game. Real life maybe 50 but 75 in All 3 of as well as better overall 76 at 1b which is better than all my 1b sov that at least means hehas video game value haha

OK I'll break my vow of silence for a moment, but is it just me or does every trade question involve Mike Olt lately? WTH? I think we need an Olt meme...

You guys do know there are other young/prospect third basemen out there, right? Kaleb Cowart, Nolan Arenado, Brett Lawrie, Josh Vitters, Will Middlebrooks, Mike Moustakas, Nick Castellanos, Matt Dominguez, Kyle Seager, Jedd Gyorko, Todd Frazier, Pedro Alvarez, Anthony Rendon...why do people think Olt is the only one?

Frankly, I don't even think it's the Mike Olt "thing" anymore, people are just getting pretty sick of answering Mike Olt questions over and over. I call it Mike Olt Fatigue.

But, I have now re-taken the vow of silence about the prospect 3Bman who shall remain nameless...

No argument intended here. I think it stems from Olt being a blocked player who has flashed big league skills, albeit in the minors, and being on a contender. This really makes him the perfect trade chip although I think that Rendon is in the same situation and a much better player.

Now that I have said my piece I badley need trade advice.

I am currently sitting at 40-26 in my Orioles dynasty, 4 games ahead of the Yankees in the division.

My teams pitching has been really good except for Jason Hammel.

Even though I am contending I think that there would be a bit of realism in trading him as he has been wildly inconsistent and I have very deep pitching with Arrieta and Garcia both dominating triple A (might get shelled in the bigs but they at least deserve a shot) and no other holes in my rotation.

The spreadsheet says a mid B for Hammel but with the following stat line I think its closer to a low B/high C considering he would just be a rental:

                      7-6, 5.54 ERA, 87.2 IP in 14 GS, 77 K, 26 BB, 13 HR, 1.32 WHIP, and a .256 BAA.

This is a bit misleading as he has had some positives including limiting righties to a .224 BAA, His component ERA being 3.985, and his DIPS being 4.061
(He also has looking dominant at times, 14 K 3 hitter earlier)

Obviously not a great statline but I've seen a lot worse.

I feel like the best move for me would be to send him to a team that is clinging to contention with a poor rotation and I could maybe get a prospect that could be used to acquire a premier SP for the stretch run (or just a good guy for my future if one of my in house candidates seizes the job).

The two teams that fit the bill are San Diego and Chicago (NL)

The Pads sit at 36-30 (5.5 GB on division, but only 1 GB on WC)

The Cubs sit at 31-34 (5.5 GB on division and WC)

Obviously the Cubs aren't really well in contention but I am trying to think logically that maybe they would do it to remind the fanbase they are still trying.

                      Now to my question.

What would be a fair and realistic deal to these teams? (As I said looking for a prospect/trade chip)

Note: I am not against trading him for MLB proven players but I feel like that will be more of a deal if I trade him to a team that is dominating for a struggling player of there own (EX. To Angels for struggling Hanson)

Thank you for any and all help and I appologize for the length of this post.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I started a new franchise as the Twins because I wanted to hybrid rosters, so I'm only 2 weeks in but on my old franchise I was at the all-star break. I play all 162 games. I know its early, but judging off my last franchise and this one so far I'd like to make some trades.

First I know I need a left handed reliever my options are in perferred order

Johnny Venters- he has a 9 ERA right now and the Braves are out to a low start. Spreadsheet says 2 high C's, would that be fair value?

Rex Brothers- 5 ERA Rock's out to a slow start. Spreadsheet says Mid C is that fair?

I also need a right handed reliever and heres my top choices.

Tom Wilhehsem- Great year so far, but Seattle sucks. Valued at 2 High C's?

Drew Storen- Good year, Nats are competing. Low B + High C?

Kenley Jansen- Good year, Dodgers are off to a nice start. Low B + High C?

I need to replace Dozier at 2nd because hes awful..

Tyler Pastornicky- In AAA, Atlanta is doing decent. Low C?

Rickie Weeks- Sub .200 BA. Brewers are doing bad. Low B + Low B?

Daniel Murphy- Having a good year, Mets are bad. High C + High C?

Steve Lombardozzi- Not playing, Nats are doing well. High C?

Ruben Tejada- Batting around .220, NYM are bad. High C?

Josh Rutledge- having a good year, COL is bad. Low B?

D.J. LeMahieu- Decent year, but is a bench bat. COL is bad. Mid C?

Now finally I need one starting pitcher that can get me some innings.

Wily Peralta- 0-2 13.50 ERA. Brew Crew is pretty bad. 2 High C's?

A.J. Griffin- Having a pretty good year, only 3 strikeouts though. OAK is hovering around .500 but the other teams are exploding. Low B?

Dan Straily- 5 ERA. Low B?

Jake Arrieta- literally no strikeouts, average year. BAL isn't going to have a chance looking at the starts of all the other teams in divsion. High C + High C?

Felix Doubront- Ehh just a number 5 for Boston, decent 5. BOS is having a good season. High C + High C?

I only want one LH reliever, one RH reliever, one 2B, one SP.

Could you guys narrow down who is most realistic for me to aquire and what their value is?

I play MLB 12 the show and in my first season with the Red Sox we lost in the ALDS. The Braves somehow had the worst record in the league. Heyward is coming off of an 287, 13 HR, 41 RBI season.(I'm guessing he was hurt for a duration of it) Would it be realistic to trade for him? Would Anthony Ranaudo (Mid A), Bryce Brentz(High B), and Sean Coyle(High B) work?

                            Brothers, Wilmhelmson, Lombardozzi, Arrieta.

Brothers would probably go for a couple high C's. Wilmhelmson, give them a low B you don't like (but keep him 24 or under).

Lombardozzi, give them a useful MLB piece, like a trade built around Willingham (you'd obviously get more back than Lombo).

Arrieta is a stud. Give them a tad more than what you give for Brothers.

The spreadsheet says mid C, but if either one is playing good, I don't think a high to mid C would be out of the question. Think of getting someone back like Kole Calhoun, Alex Yarbrough (would be great for INF depth at MLB level. Rated about 70), pitchers R.J. Alvarez, Austin Wood, Mark Sappington, or Alfonso Alcantra.

Also, the Angels would be a fit for Marmol too, since we were about this close to getting Dan Haren for him during the offseason. Nothing more
than a high C, and that's if Marmol is pitching great.
I went after Alex Yenenbough, and got him.

What do you think I could get for Garza or Villanueva? For Garza spreadsheet says two High B's(not having a great year but not terrible at all). And for Villanueva it says two High C's--but he is having a FANTASTIC year, so do you think I could get a Mid B or Low B and a high C? Nats or Braves could be options, or maybe the Angels in a trade headlined by Richards, with other players for Garza? Reds involving Daniel Corcino? Royals headlined by Ventura? Realistic? Philles Biddle and a Mid B for Garza? Fair? Teams/players I could go after?
