Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Lol and right on cue I power swing with Romine ahead of Matt Harvey 3-1 and he launches his first career jack.

Yeah I looked all around and with our age and need to keep our prospects, Ruiz was really the best option I could come up with. Especially since I didn't want to get anyone that would hinder Sanchez's development.

Question to AC: I was evaluating my pitching staff and wanted to make sure I have this right, BIPA is BABIP with HRs and K's removed right? Also what would a good/average BIPA be in your opinion.

I feel your pain AC. I decided to go with the Pirates as I wanted a NL team that isn't too good but that I like...I started with the Pads but new rosters and too much mediocrity (and too many planes at home)...anyways

I need to rid myself of Pedro Alvarez. He strikes out too much but that only leaves Josh Harrison who can play 3B at a MLB level. I'm still in April but my lord, I dread anytime he is up. April trades aren't unheard of (Amarista for Frieri last year) but I have no answers for this one right now and you know I'm a stickler for realism.

Have you tried guys like Thole? I mean, just to hold off for a bit more and make sure MIL is out of it. Otherwise, I like that trade.

I was just speaking generally. I'm eventually looking to deal him. Just where for what would make sense, assuming Hart has an above average-good season going at the time I want to trade him.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

What do you guys think of this trade, just out of curiosity? For my Bucs, these are all guys I wouldn't mind giving up but I'd want a 3B and/or SS in return. I wouldn't go after Stanton in my franchise. But it could be interesting to share an opinion on or if you have a 3B/SS for me.

The Pirates "need" the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton, ESPN.com's David Schoenfield argues. Schoenfield points out that the Pirates rank last in the National League in OPS at right field(with Travis Snider's disappointing season thus far being the main reason why). Also, the Pirates have a strong farm system with the sorts of prospects that could well tempt the Marlins. Schoenfield suggests that the Pirates could deal Jameson Taillon and Gregory Polanco, both Top 100 prospects, along with catcher Tony Sanchez and an additional pitching prospect. That would still leave the Bucs with a good crop of young players that would include Gerrit Cole, Starling Marte, Alen Hanson, Josh Bell and their 2013 draft class, but it would be a high price, as one would expect. Stanton isn't eligible for free agency until after the 2016 season, so the Pirates would be receiving a huge, and immediate, upgrade for the next several years. But the Bucs' financial situation makes their farm system a crucial part of any success they might have, so the penalty for missing on such a huge trade would be very high.

I like the 2nd one although I don't know much about Eddie Butler so I can't really speak on that one

Also, Re: Pirates and Giancarlo, I still think that's an underwhelming package for him. If Loria trades him away for them, I'd really consider his position as owner

I have 0 clue what the formula for BIPA is but it SHOULD be the same as BABIP. BABIP = (H - HR) / (AB - K - HR + SF). The mean BABIP is .300.

I gave up Thole and now Kelly Shoppach and Mike Nickeas are my only options.

Agree with AC here. It's not enough of a return going back to Miami. Taillon, Polanco, Sanchez and Marte/Hanson is probably a more logical deal. I'm assuming the Bucs would wanna hold onto Cole out of Marte/Cole/Hanson. Guess Tabata would be a throw in as well as he's no longer a fit in Pittsburgh and could use a fresh start. There's not really any value to Tabata but if a deal goes down around the deadline, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nolasco coming to Pittsburgh as well with like Tabata and Mercer being the guys shipped for him

Yea I read that article in MLBTR last night. Charlie Wilmoth severely under-valued Stanton. I like the deal you gave as that seems the most fair.

I agree, i was just curious. I thought Taillon was a good start, and Polanco was like, well, I am still listening, then lost all intrigue. IF they actually trade Stanton, I don't think they could get full value for him though either. We'll probably be hearing about Stanton rumors for the next few years ala JUpton.

How do you feel about these? No real stats, I just feel about Pedro Alvarez like AC feels about JPA. I would like to keep it realistic even if we are talking about a rare April movement.

I'm having a hard time seeing the A's part with Lowrie and Doolittle if they're not out of it. Plus with Donaldson at third, where would you play Pedro? Have them both split 3B/DH?

The first one with KC would be alright if the Royals are in it to win it with Herrera pitching poorly while Marcum and Aardsma are putting up numbers like their career years.

The Dodgers deal...let's just ignore it and pretend it never happened because it's bad (really bad).

In real life maybe...but in my franchise I(and they) made off pretty well...They were looking for a 2B and Murph (believe it or not) was leading the league in a lot of catigories...with Valdespin hitting well enough off the bench I plopped him into the 2b starting spot...Why they were looking for a C I don't know, but it gave me a reason to call up D'Arnaud(which I was looking to do)and Hawkins was a throw in so I could recall Famila....Ethier had become expendable to them(do to Puig-much like real life)and they tossed in Hanley as I was looking for a SS....

The KC trade might seem a little "meh" but I had promoted Wheeler and Montero and Marcum had zero value to me...KC was looking for a SP so I tossed em there way(along with Aardsma as a throw in)Herrera had 30+ip and an era under 1.00....

Both were offered to me and not vice verca(except I threw Hawkins into the LA deal)....

In my franchise world, they made sense for both teams
