Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Linton looks to be in the AZ roster, but he's playing pretty bad, and his speed isn't too high.

Does anyone know about this Tony Campana guy? I tend to keep up with the minors fairly decent, but The Show is the only place I have seen his name. Looked him up, and apparently AZ traded for him recently, but I couldn't find any stats on him. He fits the perfect mold in what I'm looking for.

I might be willing to move McGee as well (91 overall, 58.2 IP/53 Ks, .229 AVG). I did plan on using him as my closer next year, but I think I could withstand the loss if I get a good package in return.

Craig Gentry is a tad bit older than I would like, but he is also someone I am looking at with Leonys playing very solid.

It appears the poster already made this deal, but I think that's valuing Thole quite a bit higher than is necessary.

      Dominic Brown
      Ryan Howard

      Phillies get:
      Anthony Rizzo
      Low B/High C prospect.

I know Howard is on the decline but if I could get 1 more season out of him I would be happy as I have someone close to being ready for the majors.

I am not at home right now so I couldn't tell you the standings or their stats. I know Rizzo is batting around .260 with 6 hrs and I'm at mid June.

      Thanks
As a Cubs fan, I could never condone something like this. lol I hope you are ashamed of yourself (kidding).

Tony Campana's not really a "prospect" and never was so keeping up with the minors wouldn't help. Basically he's a speedy little guy who can steal bases by the truckload....if he could get on base. Problem is he can't. He doesn't walk or hit for power, and his contact is below average. He'd be a GREAT pinch runner on a 40-man expanded roster, that's about it.

Gentry is quite a lot better than Tony C.

Well first off I don't know how you can't hit with him, I love him, but people are different. Anyways, Rizzo is WAYYYYY MORE valuable then that. I know since you're trading Rizzo you're not going for much realism, but he is going to be the face of the franchise along with Castro.

            Eric Young Jr?

Maybe send them a minor league starter?

That's a great idea. Very fair and extremely realistic. Probably one of the most realistic trades ever proposed in this thread.

He needs to go to a CPU team where he can properly cheese, or be demoted to AAA if he's not involved in a trade. I'll get stats as I am, for once, at my PS3.

                        May 3

                        Brewers 11-18
Blue Jays 14-15 (have to play the May 3 game though)

                        1B Adam Lind: .370 OBP, 125 wRC+ (yes, I did the calculation), 1.820 BatRuns.

C J.P. Arencibia: .215 OBP, 65 wRC+, .120 ISO (which is quite impressive considering my team ISO of .078), -4.890 BatRuns, A POT

                        PROSPECTS:

                        Spoiler

Jon Lucroy: .343 OBP, 144 wRC+, 2.3 BatRuns. 10.875 RF... damn. But be warned, .324 BABIP.

Francisco Rodriguez: 13.50 ERA, 1:2 K:BB ratio (4:8... ow lol), 10.00 DIPS, 2.1M salary. Negative value.

And lastly, my ace in the hole so to speak. Anthony Gose: .358 OBP in AAA, 12.336 RC (around 130 RC+), 1.615 RF, pure CF, Tier 5 A. I do NOT want to give him up... only in a dire circumstance.

Right now, I'm thinking Arencibia + Davis + Lugo for K-Rod + Lucroy, thoughts? I really want to get something done.
I'll bump this to include four other players I am now willing to deal:

One, Melky Cabrera. 177 wRC+. You read that right. .345 OBP with a .138 ISO leading to a .351 wOBA with 3.47 BatRuns. He's been my best hitter. Dunno if I want to deal him but I'm open to it.

Two, Colby Rasmus. 76 wRC+, .271 OBP, won't even bother calculating the wOBA, 72 SO in 86 ABs. I would really rather not deal him as his value is probably marginal and I really think he'll turn it around, but I have to list him.

Three, Kyle Drabek. Just returning from rehab, made one start for AA New Hampshire.

Four, Jeremy Jeffress. Marginal value, I know, but he's starting at AA and not completely embarrassing himself with 9.92 K/9.

I would much rather not deal Colby, actually, and I'm only open to dealing Melky because Anthony Gose is rocking a .380 OBP in AAA. I'll deal Drabek grudgingly and Jeffress semi-willingly. But I would like to get Lucroy if possible.

Also, other options at C include Brian McCann (injured) and Carlos Ruiz (but the Phillies are contending and he's cold which is never good despite a 131 wRC+). Hanigan and Mesoraco are both underperforming, as is Russell Martin, but both CIN and PIT are at the top of the Central. Huge question:

If the Cardinals were out of it and punting the year by playing their rookies (Wong at 2nd, Taveras in CF, etc), and Yadi was playing well (164 wRC+, but only a .313 OBP and .200 ISO), would they consider dealing him realistically? As you guys can see I know absolutely nothing about realism in the NL.

Padres are .500 and I doubt they'd consider dealing Grandal... Detroit poses an interesting option. They have no closer and I have bullpen depth, Alex Avila has a 109 wRC+ and Rick Porcello is playing pretty badly which could be a nice couple buy lows.

I doubt the Athletics would move Norris or Jaso even if both were sucking. The Rangers could still be a fit for Arencibia as AJ and Soto are both playing horribly.

Jason Castro is benched but playing well in 42 ABs, that could be really interesting.

Rob Brantly is a dark horse for me that I would really like to get. Obviously no one's out of the picture on the Marlins and they're playing Miguel Olivo over him (**** off Loria) and I could really be hyped about going after him. 23 and really solid.

The Nats have Suzuki and Ramos suuuuucking.

And that's about it for catchers. I would obviously still love Lucroy, but I'm starting to really love Brantly as an option and Castro would be cool too.

                        Thoughts?

*Disclaimer for stats: Now that I think about it, I'm not gonna go back an edit things but my wRC+ is probably closer to just a standard RC+.. I haven't weighted anything but I've put it up against a standard where the mean is 100 so it's probably just RC+.

AC, are you looking for a particular skill set?

I'm assuming you'd like someone under 30, correct?

Grandal is out of the question in SD, but what about Hundley? I don't think Brantly is out of the question, especially considering it's the Marlins we're talking about.

I would assume that the Astros would want at least one prospect in return if they were to deal Castro.

Well, yes, there is a KEY factor in my preferred skill set: their name doesn't start with J and end in P Arencibia.

Hundley's not the greatest defensively, he's like JPA's ceiling lol.

I'm starting to get really hyped about this Brantly idea. I'm thinking either Lugo or Stilson + Arencibia as a realism throw in (the class Loria justification - we're still trying to win, see?!) would be okay.

Having a nightmare of a year with the Yankees. 17.5 back of the WC and 19 of the Division. Looking to blow up the team. Everyone can go pretty much. I'm having trouble figuring out where I can deal some of the bigger names such as CC and Tex.

CC, I'm thinking Seattle (5 games ahead of the Angels), Cardinals (2 games back of the Pirates), Tigers (3.5 games back of the Sox), Mets (.5 games ahead of the Braves), Pirates (2 games ahead of the Cards).

Tex, Seattle (Morales out until September), Mets (Ike Davis is hitting .239), Rangers (4 games out of the WC), Rockies (2 games back of WC, 4 of division), Pirates, and Giants (Belt hitting .214)

Again not sure who I could be able to pull from these teams, I may over value them so any opinions on prospects would be appreciated.

                              BTW

CC 6-4 2.94 era (only SP with a winning record)

                              Tex .288 19 HR 60 RBI

Just played the July 11th game.

Well that narrows it down. Lol.

The more I think about it, the more JPA seems like the perfect Loria player. Just good enough to tempt the fans, but not really a player you could build around. But, still a decent enough trade chip when it's time to clean house again.

                                I like it, personally.
