Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Is Lindor really MLB ready though? The Pirates have a big hole at SS right now but have a capable replacement down the road in Alan Hanson

I understand that Lindor>Hanson but would the Pirates make holes at other positions to get Lindor?

Just curious to see what opinions are on this

What exactly do you want for Lindor?

How about Dominic Brown? I'm not really sure what the Phillies need position wise.. they have Quinn as a pretty good SS prospect but I don't think that would make them turn down Lindor.

Pittsburgh could really use a SS. You might be able to package a deal for Pedro Alvarez?

        David Wright?
Dominic Brown was my second option, behind Cespedes. Do you see it one-on-one, or should other player be included ?

David Wright could also be tempting. Though I'm really more interested in an outfielder. Alvarez...probably not by himself, and I don't see a lot of pieces I would be interested in, aside from Marte. Plus, I though Hanson was a pretty decent prospect for them at SS, no ?

I'm mostly looking for a decent bat in the outfield...so that I could use Stubbs as a PH. Eventually, I'm looking to trade Swisher (can't stand his batting stance), so I need someone who can take his spot in the line-up.

Okay. So teams that could use a SS (no quality starter or top prospect) are: Tampa Bay (They have Hak Ju Lee but he hasn't progressed like they have wanted him to), Detroit, Minnesota (both in division unfortunately), Mets, Cardinals, Reds (with Billy Hamilton most likely moving to CF), San Diego, San Francisco

The most intriguing OF names from that list of teams would be Josh Willingham, Torii Hunter (too old for your liking though), Beltran (too old), Holliday, Jay Bruce, Carlos Quentin, Hunter Pence.

I'd personally swing a deal for Bruce, Beltran or Quentin

I like the idea of a Lindor for Quentin + other player(s) deal. San Diego has a lot of good prospects at multiple positions.

Hmm, a David Price for Lindor trade actually makes a crap tonne of sense to me.

Castallenos, Mauer, someone idek the Mets are pretty bad, Bruce, Grandal/Alonso/Headley/Gyorko, Pence/Lincecum/Sandoval are all fairness fits from that list. Just as main pieces. These all need a plethora of pieces added on both sides.

I still really like the Price idea.

He says he's looking for an OF so I doubt he'd go with the Price trade. I just was looking for possible OF's.

I think he would like Bruce. Lindor for Bruce and maybe someone else doesn't sound all too bad. I think the spreadsheet says he's worth a low A? Reds can move Choo to RF and Hamilton in Cf when he's ready.

I also think Quentin and other pieces (Casey Kelly? Rymer Liriano?)

I know, I figured as much. Just figured David Price would be appealing too haha, plus I know Cleveland could use some starting pitching.

I think he'd like Bruce too, really, as soon as I read Cincy I thought of him.

Quentin isn't supremely valuable in my books, and Kelly's pretty far off from Lindor as well. Liriano seems like a nice fit but I dunno if SD has the pieces to get it done. Liriano + Cashner for Lindor + Carrasco? Seems to fit needs pretty well.

Those are some pretty interesting names !

Price would be insane, as it would give me a lefty for my rotation, and I wouldn't have to trade for Anderson. I like Anderson a lot on paper, but his durability worries me a bit. But it wouldn't solve my bat problem though. Unless I can swing another deal, and use other pieces to trade for an outfielder.

Bruce would definately fill my needs (even better than Brown or Cespedes). There are many players I like in SD, but the only one that would fit a position of needs right now would probably be Headley.

So lets talk about Bruce. What do you see ?

You thought about doing a fantasy draft? It seems as though you are really trying to make the club as you see it with zero waiting, so maybe fantasy drafting would get you there quicker without need for pushing a bunch of [unrealistic] trades through.

Hehehe I did quite a few actually, and have one running. But I want a second franchise, with the real MLB team. Picked the Indians because I love their unis, and they have quite a few players I'm ready to stick with long term.

So it's really the outfield I'd like to change...I'm okay with Bourn, don't really have nothing against Brantley, but Stubbs I'd prefer as a PH, or out. Swisher will be traded eventually, but later in the season, depending on how well my Indians are doing. Aside from that, I can live with what the Indians have to offer. I just need that one key bat in my line-up, that's all...

...oh, and a lefty in my rotation, if I can ever find a good/durable/affordable one.

Wandy Rodriguez, Paul Maholm, Ricky Romero, Jon Niese, Derek Holland? In addition to Price obviously.

Hell, Lindor + your 6/7th starter for Jay Bruce + Tony Cingrani + something else could work. You'd love Cingrani. Young Cliff Lee.

Yeah I agree. I was really just throwing names and teams out there to see what he was interested in. But it could be possible to put together a big (and unrealistic) trade to get maybe Marte + Alvarez + Liriano/Locke. The Indians could give back Lindor + Chisenhall? Just throwing it out there haha.

I'm the Mets, right after the All-Star break at 48-48. I'm still in contention but I'm also kinda looking to rebuild on the fly. One of the guys I'm looking to add is Dan Hudson from the D-Backs. He has a 4.13 ERA and Arizona has a few other MLB ready SP that they could use to replace Hudson. What would be a realistic deal for him as the Mets? Arizona is still in contention if that matters but I'd think they would want to give their young pitchers a chance over a struggling Hudson.

If I trade for Hudson I'd probably swing around and deal Jonathan Niese who is struggling with a 4.68 ERA and he's going to be arbitrational eligible so I'd rather not pay him. What teams would want him (standings are pretty accurate to real life)? And what could I get for him with his 4.68 ERA? Or should I just include Niese in my Hudson deal?

Don't know Niese's value at the moment but I don't think the D backs would want him because of all the pitching depth they already have. They don't need another pitcher.
