Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Alright, so I asked about a possible Chris Sale trade (I am the CWS) about a week or two ago, and got some great feedback. I'm typically pretty uptight when it comes to realism, but I want to go ahead with a trade because I'm really not having a whole lot of fun with this franchise. I figured I could change that with some prospects.
I am in the 2014 offseason and feel that Erik Johnson is absolutely ready to step in. Rienzo more than likely will start the season off, but he might be better suited for the bullpen. In real life if Peavy (or perhaps any other CWS pitchers) is traded I will probably reverse the trade, but for now I need some spice.
Would enjoy a trade centered around the following players (listed left to right in order of how I view them):
Dodgers: Zach Lee - Joc - Chris Reed - Valentin - Stripling - Michael Thomas
Rangers: Sardinas - Olt - Alfaro - Ronald Guzman - Brinson - CJ Edwards
Padres: Fried- Roach - Jankowski - Jace Peterson - Wisler
Obviously I would not expect all the players above - just showing whom I would like the most, and would welcome most other players not named. Problem is, I can't figure out who to trade him to and what for. Therefore, any help is appreciated as far as someone liking him to a certain team and who for, haha.Comment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
What about Lyles to the Twins? He seems like a pitcher the Twins would want, a pitch-to-contact guy that throws strikes. If Buxton is MLB ready the Twins might be willing to give up Hicks for Lyles. Or maybe you could try to get Eddie Rosario instead to replace Altuve at second.Comment

Lyles is worth a Low B + High C according the spreadsheet if I remember correctly. Didn't you also say that he has been struggling in your chise? That will also hurt his value.
I think you should think about putting together a big deal with the Rockies. They could use Altuve and Lyles. You could get Trevor Story (Low A SS) and some pitching prospects back. Maybe Matzek + Aquino and throw in a C player like Culberson or Rosell Herrera.
If they can do it salary cap wise, it would probably be a good fit. Especially since JDLR is probably about done with his career in their rotation.
What were Lyles stats the last couple seasons?

lol. Hopefully something good. Buxton's as close to a lock for the HOF as there is for a guy who hasn't played MLB ball yet.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I fixed your post. Let's not punch his ticket to Cooperstown just yet.
I don't think he was as raw as originally advertised. I haven't seen him recently (haven't watched futures yet), but there are things in his swing that concern me. Nothing that can't be corrected, though. Not near as bad as Bubba Starling's swing-yuck.Last edited by rjackson; 07-18-2013, 04:13 AM.Comment

Lyles, I don't really know too much about. He looked pretty good when I watched him pitch against the Rockies this year, but that's really all I've seen from him. The Rockies actually investing in a pitcher has never worked out.. the only ones that survive are generally home grown guys. Jorge De La Rosa has been the only exception I can think of in recent years.
Realistically, it probably wouldn't happen, but then again I don't think the Astros would be shopping Altuve to begin with.
I still like the idea of shipping Altuve to San Fran for Brandon Crawford. The Giants are probably a good fit for Lyles as well. Zito is probably long gone, as well as Vogelsong. They might be needing a 3-5 guy in their rotation behind Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner and maybe Crick.Denver Broncos

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
So I finally decided to run with Seattle instead of Cleveland...they have a good, young, promising line-up and although it's not perfect, I can easily live with the current roster, and not try to make any trades before the season starts.
...or so I thought.
Three weeks in, and I lose Michael Saunders for 2 months+. The one position where I don't have depth (Guttierez is fine, but that leaves me with Morse/Ibanez/Bay for the other two spots). I'm already playing Morse at RF, and I'm gonna give Ibanez/Bay a shot for right now, but if you could suggest good (and relatively cheap to acquire) outfielders I should keep an eye on in the upcoming weeks, that would be great.
I'm looking for a Saunders-type of player. Someone I can put pretty much anywhere in the line-up, with good speed, good defense and somewhat decent bat. Morse's defense scares me, so if it's someone I could eventually keep in the outfield when Saunders comes back, that would be ideal.Comment
