And Mauer seems to give them something they really need...

But like I've said, I'm still undecided. For "realism" sake, if I end up picking Minny, I'll make sure the Cubs are at least contending to make that deal happen. If not, I'll look somewhere else.
I would love to have Mauer as a Cub, but not at the expense of Baez. At this point Barney can't hit so I see him as their future 2B now with Olt in the picture at 3B. That's a pretty solid IF (Rizzio,Baez,Castro,Olt) with a OF of Jackson,Solar,Almora and #1 pick Kris Bryant as well.

I like of the idea of this lineup so much, it makes me want to start up a Cubs Franchise..

So I thought I would shake up the rebuild in Chicago and give them some instant help well giving the A's some guy's that they can control for the next 4-5 years and stay within their buget.

Cubs get Josh Reddick (.244 with 19 HR's) former Theo and Hoyer guy from their time in Boston along with LHP SP T. Milone, UTL IF J. Weeks, and 3B S. Moore..

Milone would become their instant #2 moving Woods and Jackson down a slot. Weeks would challenge Barney for the starting role. Moore would hold down 3B until Baez can take over in 2015. (Sad no Olt because he is already in Miami )

Both Reddick and Milone are F.A. at the end of the year, but the Cubs have plenty of cap space to resign both.

For the A's they get a quartet of former high draft picks.

OF B Jackson (hitting .360 in 25 AB's after hitting .299 with 8 HR's last year in 157 AB's) to take over RF for Reddick.

3B J. Vitters (hasn't done anything stat wise ) but maybe a move to the AL jump starts his career. He can backup Donaldson or and provide insurance incase he leaves at the end of the year (He is a F.A.)

1B/DH D. Vogelbaugh (Traded B. Moss to Colorado) so spends the rest of the year in AAA and maybe makes his debut in 2015. Tyler Colvin is currently play 1B but could move to the RF with Jackson moving to CF.

SP B. Loux (3-4 with a 5.57 ERA as the #5 for Chicago) would take the #5 spot in Oakland.

My thoughts are this open's up another 2 mil for Oakland (now up to 9 million in the budget) to resign J. Parker, Donaldson, Colvin and Choice all starters, as well as some key bullpen guys like Doolittle.

The Cubs get a power hitter to bat behind Rizzo and a #2 to replace Garza would just happens to be in Oakland now.

Maybe not realistic, but is it fair? Seems to me it helps both teams...
      So...

      Reddick
      Weeks
      Milone
      Moore

      FOR

      Jackson
      Vitters
      Vogelbach
      Loux

      ?

I can't really understand if that's what you're getting at or not, but if it is, wow is that a giant win for the Cubs. Jackson can't make physical contact between a baseball and a baseball bat, Vitters is just baaaad, Vogelbach is a 1B, and Loux is nothing special. These are some of the worst Cubs prospects, lol.

Is there any scenario where Bauer could possibly be moved?

Trevor Bauer? I think it's pretty cut and dry with him. If he's playing like crap, yeah, they'd move him. If he's holding his own, they'll keep him. I would set a hilariously arbitrary number of around a 4.75 ERA. Hopefully it isn't that close in your chise, though. How's he doing in your chise?

In mine, for example, he has a 5.98 ERA. They'd move him.

New spreadsheet coming along nicely. Thanks to NIOT, we have a nice, simple way to grade realism. We need somewhere to put organizational philosophy, though.

Aside from that, PM me if you're interested in working on a specific team. First come first serve, posts in the thread will be ignored (PM only). Toronto, Minnesota, Boston, Arizona, Chicago(s) already taken/reserved.

For the Cubs, I would prefer if WTNY and k_mac co-op'd it.

It's only mid April and he has a 3.77 at AAA. Just thought it would be fun to bring back the UCLA 1-2 combo from a few years back

Doubt they'd move him just yet.

I understand. Wasn't planning on making a move until much later. Just seeing if Bauer was reasonable trade piece for later on

Ehh, I dunno if that's quite enough. You could replace the worst prospect in that deal with, say, Owings.

Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I actually got offered this trade by the CPU - wondering what everyone thinks. I'm the Philadelphia Phillies - and this is 2013 (1st year of Franchise). The Phils are 71-31 leading by 18.0 games in the N.L. East right now, in late July.

                        St. Louis wants to trade:
SP Shelby Miller (AAA player - 22 years old, 78 overall, A potential)
SS Rafael Furcal (.267, 4 HR, 24 RBI, 80 Overall - $3.1 Mil in last year of contract)

I (PHI) would have to give up:
SS Jimmy Rollins (.292, 12 HR, 54 RBI, 92 Overall - $9.0 Mil with 1 year left after current season on contract).

If this was real life, I would pretty much do it - dump Rollins' contract, pick up a young prospect pitcher that seems like is going to be very good, and at least for the rest of this season, I get an acceptable fill in for SS. But - in my Franchise reality, Rollins is having a really good season (for him, anyway, at his age of 34). However, Shelby would be the only A potential pitching prospect I'd have on the team (Biddle is only a B pot), though I have a draft pick that will come in next season as a 65 with A potential. Anyway - just curious what others think about this and if I should do pull the trigger. Thanks!

Do you care about realism and making fair trades for both sides?

So, given Ryan Braun's recent suspension, what do you guys think of Joey Bats and Anthony Gose (79 OVR, A POT) for RB?

Milwaukee gets rid of the bad press and gets a top tier outfielder in return along with a top OF prospect in Gose.
