I agree the price of dealing Fried is steep and that's why I posted it here. The only advantage of being in 2014 vs 2013, is Peavy is in the last year of his deal, so basically it would be a 1 year rental unless they could get him at a cheaper rate next year. He is only 32 so realistically they could sign him to a 3 yr deal after the season and I would think still be okay, if they could get him for about half of the 6.5 mil he is making this year.

Ramirez is the same 32, but already has a 3 year 5.4 mil per season deal in place.

I actually like the idea of Peavy back to the Padres most, but without Ramirez in the deal, maybe do it for Alonso and Wieland or maybe a guy like A. Bass who is a (78C) currently in AAA but is 10-5 with a 2.62 ERA. Bass is 26, so he could be a guy that could slide in the Sox's rotation at the end.

However on the money end, dealing Alonso, Bass, Wieland would be sending 12.31 mil in salary over the Chicago and taking back Peavy and Ramirez would be 11.79 mil this season.

Guess I need to look at the spreadsheet and figure out maybe a better combo of players. that would make sense for the Padres to give up for a possible 1 year rental to win the NL West.
But Peavy being a rental actually makes him less valuable, not more. It's next to unfathomable to trade the top prospect for a 1-year rental. And forcing or guaranteeing the extension doesn't help since it's not realistic for a player to decide on an extension at the time of a trade (at least in baseball).

I'm also surprised that Wieland, Bass, and Alonso are MORE expensive than Peavy and Ramirez. That's really strange Show contact logic.

Maybe Brandon Moss if the A's are out of it.

Garret Jones, Gaby Sanchez, James Loney, Justin Smoak.
Daric Barton from the A's for a bag of Cheetos?

Hey now! I'm using OAK and I love that I have Barton down in AAA waiting for a call-up. He can hit well against lefties particularly, I believe (I'm not home to check his ratings). I can see him coming up for a stretch and hitting .250, or functioning as a very capable pinch hitter.

And Cheetos aren't as good as Doritos, so I'd go for Barton, two bags, and a stock option .

Wondering what the value for Shaun Marcum would be.

Currently 10-3 3.02 ERA 1.17 WHIP 1st in Cy Young Voting

Do you guys think I am ripping Tampa Bay off on this trade? I am in year 2 btw.

              Rays get:
              1B Kendrys Morales (30 y/o B 83 OVR)
              SS Joe Panik (23 y/o B 79 OVR)
              CF Dave Sappelt (27 y/o C 78 OVR)

              Cubs get:
              SP Jeremy Hellickson (26 y/o A 89 OVR)

On the one hand I feel that I am because I am giving up my backups for a stud pitcher. On the other hand 2 of my backups would instantly become starters (Morales and Panik) and Sappelt would be their 4th outfielder. Also Tampa has Price and Moore still so they are giving up their 3rd starter.

              What do you guys think?

Also Tampa is 3 games out from WC

Currently playing as the Twins and made some trades to add youth and speed to the roster. I ended up getting Freddy Glavis and love his speed, arm, and seems to have some pop. I traded Doumit for him to allow Arcia and Parmalee more playing time.

I also traded Vance Workey, Carroll, and Rich Harden for Jose Tabata, Dilson Herrera and a young pitcher.

Thoughts? I was surprised at the value Doumit and Worley could get.

Looking to dump Willingham soon too, and Pelfrey and Correria.

                      Morales is batting .308, 4 homeruns, 20 rbis, .372 obp, .511 slug
Panik is batting .280, .333 obp, .349 slug
Sappelt is batting .269, .310 obp, .331 slug

these are all as backup roles.

                      Hellickson is 6-4 with a 3.86 era, 1.21 whip, .266 avg

We both are contending. Tampa is 5 games back in the division and 3 back in wc. I am 6 games back in division and 4.5 in wc. This is in june so plenty of time.

Also Tampa's current first baseman is Yuniesky Betancourt and their SS is Hak Ju Lee. Both are struggling at the plate. I would be willing to throw in Julio Borbon instead of Sappelt even though he has been on fire this year.

Borbon- .324 avg, 5 hrs, 26 rbis, .351 obp, .494 slug, 42 runs, 7 triples and has been a great lead off man for me.

In my Blue Jays dynasty, J.P. Arencibia is out for about 2-3 months with an injury so I was thinking of getting a catcher since Thole isn't good enough to be my starting catcher. If I were to give up Mauro Gomez, out of Lou Marson and Austin Romine, which one would benefit me the most?

Edit: or maybe I should go after Kurt Suzuki?
