I had no choice but to blow up the roster when only 5 players hit .250 or better. Pitching was atrocious as well. I brought a couple solid minor leaguers up and have two rule 5 draft position players. I did give the team an image for itself though.

      GAME 1

What a beautiful game to start my Red Sox franchise with! Also using TNKBOS roster as well.

*on my iPad and the generator doesn't work*

      Lester vs Sabathia

-Boston missed a golden opportunity in the first inning as Ellsbury singles to start the game. Ells steals second, then victorino pops out for the first out. Pedroia lined to center for a single and Ells moves to 3rd. Ortiz strikes out looking at a beautiful curveball from Sabathia for the 2nd out. Napoli grounds out to end the inning with no damage.

-Sox load the bases with only 1 out in the 4th but Sabathia manages to get out of the inning again with no marks on the scoreboard.

-5th inning victorino takes a high fastball deep to left for the first run of the day on a solo shot.

-6th inning the wheels begin to fall off for the Bronx bombers. Middlebrooks doubles to left to kick start the inning. Gomes lines to center for an RBI single (2-0). Sabathia gets the hook from Girardi as Phelps comes in to work. Salty doubles high off the left field wall which sadly only moves Gomes to 3rd. Stephen drew is next up to bat and he hits a sharp ground ball to right that gets thru for an RBI single (3-0) and moves salty to 3rd no outs still. Ellsbury strikes out on a 2-2 fastball high and away for the first out. Victorino steps in, phelps starting to lose confidence throws a slider in the dirt that gets passed the catcher and Salty scores (4-0). Victorino strikes out on a 3-2 fastball for the 2nd out. Pedroia is next up and finds a fastball that catches too much of the plate that he sends deep over the left field wall for an 2 run HR (6-0). Phelps is completely broken at this point as Ortiz steps in and on the 3rd pitch of the at bat he gets a hanging breaking ball that he crushed into the 2nd deck in right field (7-0) which also gets me the Bronx bomber trophy. Mike Napoli pops out to right to stop the bleeding for the Yankees.

-6 full innings would be enough for Lester in his first start of the season as he goes 6IP 7H 0R 0ER 0BB 4K

-Aceves comes into get some work in the 7th as gets the Yankees quickly 1-2-3

-Tazawa starts the 8th, gives up a single to Jeter and then a HR to Cano (7-2) which gets him pulled and Bard comes into finish. Granderon doubles, texeria flies out but advances Grandy to 3rd. Youkilis ground out but gets the RBI as granderson comes into score (7-3)

-Bard continued to pitch well as he gives up nothing in the 9th as the Sox day the season opener 7-3.

      Red Sox
      15 hits
      4 2B
      3 HR
      1BB
      2 ERR

      Yankees
      10 hits
      2 2B
      1 HR
      0BB
      0 ERR

Thoughts: overall great feeling game. The errors came on the same play, both were over thrown balls which didn't end up hurting me at all. A lot of hits but nothing felt unrealistic to me. Homeruns came on mistake pitches that caught too much of the plate. And the 6th inning rally felt amazing.

Another great game. Hits may seem a tad inflated and raise some peoples eyebrows, but I'm being very patient at the plate and its been paying off. I had two home runs in this game which accounted for 3 runs. It really feels good to get rallies going.

        Game 2

        RED SOX at YANKEES

          Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Update on the cardinals , Redsox , and tigers franchise. We are ab to play our last games of April. We all have ab 4-5 losses apiece. These division games lately have been real nail biters for all of us. We are all getting a better idea of how to keep our lineups turnng out runs while keeping our players rested and able to play to the best of their ability. The DH and a good backup are really coming in handy as the grind sets in. I'll get more in depth with my team the Cardinals and dig some info out of the other guys later.

I recently played my most enjoyable series to date against the Pittsburg Pirates. 3 game series that came to a rubber match on sunday.I Have a great breakdown in another thread if wanted I'll copy and paste for you. Done a little wheeling and dealing lately as I try to find balance for my team. Dealt David Price for Andrew Mccutchen but hated his stance and he didn't hit for me in 3 games so I dealt him for Desmond Jennings and Jason Motte. I felt i down graded some but I don't want to be dominate everywhere. Very good everywhere but no real ace yet.

Will middlebrooks is counted on against lefties but his defense leaves alot to be desired idk how long I can watch him olè balls. Anyone think chris Nelson would be a better option ?????

          Jim Johnson
          Jason motte

My triple A team is set too if wanted I can post that up with some of their numbers since they mostly generated. Did pick up a prospect from another team in a trade then when the trade was over I noticed he had 22 durabilty lol
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

Was invited to the HR Derby with Buster Posey and managed to beat out Votto by one to win the Derby.

Sitting 49-46 with the Giants 6.5 games behind the Dodgers and 1 back for the 2nd wild card needing a big push in Aug/Sept if the defending champs plan to make the playoffs.

Cain is having a nice season but nothing like his 2012, while Lincecum sitting 2-9 is not making a case for resigning. Everyone seems to me hitting the same with Sandoval passing last seasons stats at the halfway point and Buster putting in another MVP season

              .342 avg
              61 RBI
              26 HR

With Kemp and G.Stanton putting up similar numbers it's going to be a close finish and years end.

              Off to the All-Star game

                Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Finished up my second season with the Astros, and we snuck into the play offs with a wild card seed!!! However we lost... Badly.

Anyways, the season was a great sign for the future. We finished 85-79, beating the Mariners in a tie breaker to earn the wild card. The Rangers imploded early and went into rebuilding as they shipped out Ian Kinsler and Beltre. I also made a big move in July. The White Sox had a fire sale as they imploded as well, and I acquired Chris Sale for 3 A prospects and 2 B prospects.

Now, with a starting ace on my roster, I can begin to turn the corner. I believe my record this season was a bit inflated, as Texas and Oakland were weak. I didn't preform well against the Angels, Tigers, Royals, or Blue Jays.

Oh, the Tigers are now back to back World Series Champions! Beating the Nationals 4-2. Miguel Cabrera has won his 3rd straight MVP title (.316, 42, 135), and fell shy of a triple crown by 4 home runs. My created self on the Astros had a breakout season hitting for .312, 46 home runs, and 115 RBI's. Justin Verlander won the Cy Young (19-6, 3.03 ERA, 175 SO).

                Onto Free Agency!

                  Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Well, after re- signing Chris Sale to a 10yr deal worth $22m per year, I am amazed by the free agent class.

                  Here's a list of big FA's:
                  SP Felix Hernandez
                  SS Elvis Andrus
                  3B Pablo Sandoval
                  SP Yovani Gallardo
                  SP Max Scherzer
                  RF Alex Rios
                  LF Melky Cabrera

I must say, I couldn't believe it. I immediately offered King Felix a large contract, $20m per year. I also offered Scherzer a contract. If they both accept, I'll be at my cap limit! That would leave me no room to upgrade my position players at all.

Well, Felix ended up going to Kansas City for a LOT less money, I guess money doesn't always talk. I thought about going after Sandoval but decided to put my money elsewhere.

I invested in several B potential prospects to begin rebuilding my farm from the Sale trade. I also missed out on both Gallardo and Scherzer. Gallardo joined Felix in KC (Scary right!?!?) and Max went to Boston. So it looks like I'll be bringing Johnnie Mendell up to the majors, a top 19 year old prospect with A potential.

I picked up Zach Braddock in the rule 5 draft. He's a 23 y/o RP with B potential. Will definitely be a MLB starter for the foreseeable future here with my lack of talented relievers.

Here's my MLB line ups for 2015.

I have always preferred to control my created player via franchise instead of RTTS Especially now that progression and regression are real and dynamic. Not knocking it either jus a franchise fanatic lol
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

Same here, I don't care for RTTS myself. I prefer to have more control of where my player goes and plays.

                        Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

I just finished up the month of April in my Tigers franchise. I use 30 team control, but control only the Tigers, although I do make call-ups and D.L. decisions for the CPU teams, as some of their roster moves are highly questionable. I play on All Star difficulty, with default sliders, except for baserunner speed upped two notches to offset the slowdown rounding third base.

I'm off to a 23-3 start, 7.5 games up on the Kansas City Royals. Pitching has been great. Verlander went 6-0, and has 64 K's in 48 innings. The starters have been really good, as has the bullpen. I decided to go with a closer by committee for the first month, using Bruce Rondon (5 Svs) and Phil Coke (2 Svs).

Miguel Cabrera had a monster April (.374, 9 HR, 31 RBI) Victor Martinez has come back from his knee injury strong (.320, 4, 13).

Jhonny Peralta began the year on the D.L. so I brought "myself" up to play shortstop, and also platoon in left field with Andy Dirks. I am hitting .408 with 9 HR, and 26 RBI. (Like the poster a couple posts above, I prefer to control my created player inside franchise, rather than RTTS.)

I have links to my complete stats, and league standings in my signature.

I just played May 1 st game on lunch lol. 3 users. And we are all at ab 3-5 losses. Wht kinda difficulty are you using ?? We started with veteran pitching and rookie hitting. Went up to veteran hitting all star pitching ab a week and a half ago so our stats are still pretty high. They are evening out tho. I like Andy Dirks alot just not enough spots for him. 64 ks in 48 ip tho is tough I'll see tn if we have anything comparable.

I play on All Star difficulty for everything, with the only slider adjustment being baserunning speed up two clicks, to offset the slowdown at third base.

I started today, and I decided to hit the ground running with the Brewers. This is the year I am not screwing around tweaking rosters, sliders, settings, etc.

I am doing hitting only and fast forwarding pitching. So far I think the fast forwarding of pitching seems a little broken, but whatever.
