    Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Finished 18-10 with the Yankees in April.

Jeter returned to the lineup April 26th being restricted to DH responsibilities.

Robinson Cano makes a strong claim for a new contract, or at the minimum a hefty pay day as he started the season out with a .354, 40 hits, 31 RBIs, and 8 HRs.

In 5 starts Phil Hughes posts a 4-0 record with a .75 ERA.

The 1-2 punch of of Robertson and Mo have been lights out. They combine for 24 IP, and a 0 ERA.

50 games down in year 4 with the Royals. Sitting at 23-27. Some good and bad things

Bad - Pitching is terrible. No starter has an ERA under 4.10. James Shields is 5-1. But is giving up runs left and right. And unfortunately, he is starting to decline.

Good - Offense is destroying the ball. 5 guys have a .300+ average. Dexter Fowler came back from an injury and is hitting .320 a little over month worth of games. Mike Moustakas is FINALLY hitting the ball. .305 avd 16 HR and 45 RBI. 1-6 batters are great. 7-9 are performing below average. Including Christian Colon who hit .295 as a rookie last year. Only hitting .205 right now.

I have a couple guys playing in secondary positions. Hoping i can move players to their normal spots and hopefully cut down on some runs. Cleveland is running away with the division. Nick Swisher is still batting over .400. And Corey Hart is at .356.

I know for plenty of people it's very important that the trades are ultra realistic...to me personally I don't give a damn. I traded Lincecum, young A potential and Belt from the Giants for Trout and some pitcher in MLB 12. It's as unrealistic as it can get...but hey, I've got the young exciting player I wanted but it was and is fun. I don't try to cripple the computer on purpose and load my team. It just happened that I offered for a player I really wanted...and they accepted.

I agree, me personally, love realism, but I think a lot of people here put too much emphasis on their beliefs when replying to other peoples threads! Esepcially when the people who post these unrealistic trades aren't really asking whether they're realistic or not, just telling everyone what they're doing! I do one chise a year where I trade for whoever I want, had one last year, Braves, had: JUp, DesJennings, Heyward, Longo, Tulo, Uggla, Goldschmidt, McCann as my offense! This year, I started one with the Rays before the OSFM, traded: RRoberts, KJohnson, and a B prospect for Cano. It's all about what makes it fun for you, not what everyone else thinks is fun!

I'm happy to be sharing my first update of the year with my 2013 Atlanta Braves! Man, I have seen it all already! From being beatdown on Opening Day from the NL East leading Phillies, to a walk-off walk from my number 8 hitter Chris Johnson, to leading the universe offensively with Jayson Heyward, to wishing the universe would open up to the likes of the struggling Dan Uggla, the first 28 games of my Franchise have been memorable and a meaningful testament to the greatness that is The Show's video game baseball universe.

                  Notes

B.J. Upton's abysmal beginning has been by far the hardest part for me to try and deal with from a managerial perspective. I have Jordan Schafer eagerly hoping for an Upton ACL tear . Because otherwise, I'm not really sure I can justify that kind of money on the bench. My patience is running thin, however.

Dan Uggla almost certainly should be riding the pine, but at the moment I do not really have any suitable replacements (see below).

Aside from the mystical Kimbrel, my bullpen has been awful.

Speaking of mystical, J-Hey is obviously hitting out of his mind right now.

McCann's contacts appear to be working.

Freddie Freeman can hit the ball a long way.

Kris Medlen can pitch the ball a long way too. Right in to the stands. He's given up 8 dingers so far and it's only May 3rd.

I strike out a lot. Note to self: O button is your friend.

The Indians have been getting toma-hawked. With only 8 total wins, even HOU and MIA have better records. Yikes! I feel a trade relationship coming on (see above)!

OAK's Jarrod Parker leads the AL with a 1.06 ERA after six starts. Um. Who?

The Mariners have the most wins in baseball with a total of 21.

Josh Hamilton may miss the entire year. With a torn ACL, LAA shouldn't expect him back for nearly six months.

                    Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

81 games down. Sitting at 38-43. 9.5 games back of Cleveland. 7.5 out of the wildcard spot.

Starting pitching is starting to get its act together. But James Shields is only getting worse. Stopped winning and continues to give away runs. Im finding it very hard not to throw him on the trade block. He is owed 26 million over the next 2 years. And i could use that money.

Hitting has cooled off as well. One player over .300 now. Surprisingly it is Jarrod Dyson. He is tearing up righties. Hitting .370 off them with over 200 at bats. He also leads the league in Stolen Bases with 44.

Scouted pretty bad this year. Only A i got was a SS. Should make the MLB by 2021 (5 years). By then Alcides Escobar (who is out with a torn calf) will be starting to decline and will fit in as a good replacement.

Hopefully starters, mainly Shields gets it together.

                      "Seattle Mariners"
                      11-12 / 4.5 GB (7-10 Division)

Well, I did what I was hoping to do on this 6 game road trip to Texas going 3-3, but it was hair pulling through out. I went 1-2 against the Rangers winning game #3 on another good performance from Joe Saunders. Not much else to say in the series as Texas pretty much held me down offensively losing 2-3 and 0-1 until the 5-3 victory to avoid the sweep.

Then traveled to Houston and took 2 of 3 losing the 1st game with King Felix on the mound taking his 2nd strait loss. The issue became known as he has had a blister on his throwing hand which has handicapped him his past 2 starts and was finally pulled in the 4th inning. Hisashi Iwakuma pitched another gem in game 2 going 7 innings pitching a shut out and is 3-1 on the season with a 1.06 ERA and 33k's in 34 innings. Game #3 saw Erasmo Ramirez start the game, but get pulled after the 1st inning giving up 4 runs ad has officially lost his spot in the rotation to Hector Noesi. Jeremy Bonderman came in and pitched 5 shutout innings as we clawed back to tie it in the 8th inning. Kendrys Morales hit a solo homerun in the top of the 10th to give us the lead and Tom Wilhelmsen came in and locked up his 3rd save in the last 4 games to come around after blowing 2 strait save early in the season.

Scott Podsednik started each game at lead off in CF against Houston with Gutierrez in LF and came through in game #3 going 5 for 5 with a solo homerun and RBI double only missing out on the triple which he almost had as he hit a screamer to RF and he dove, but the ball hung up under his body and didn't roll to the fence. Kyle Seager has a 9 game hitting streak and Justin Smoak finally got a chance in game #3 in Houston and went 3 for 5. Franklin Gutierrez hit well batting down in the lineup and the only player struggling right now is Michael Saunders whom was 0 for 21 at one point before picking up a single.

Morales has a .352 average which he has slipped a little, but is still 4 of 21 with RiSP which kills me when my top 2 does get on which they have been after taking out Gutierrez.

Now I got a 7 game home stand with 4 against the Angels and 3 against the Orioles before I finally get to enjoy our 2nd day off after getting 1 day off in our 1st 30 games and enjoy a cushy May with 6 days off in the month with 27 games to play.

                        End of July update.

Pitching has came through. Went 19-6 in July. Starting pitchers were great. Only a couple relievers got wins that month. And the only starter to earn a loss was James Shields. But before that game was great. In July he went 4-1 with a 1.75 ERA. So he is still a member of the Kansas City Royals.

AL won the All-Star Game and Mike Moustakas won the HR derby.

End of 2016 Regular Season (Long Post)

                          We made the playoffs.......

After starting the season 38-43, we finished 50-31 (88-74)

                          Playoff teams are
                          AL
                          Blue Jays 96-66
                          Indians 93-69
                          Rays 91-71
                          Royals 88-74
                          Rangers 87-75

                          NL
                          D-Backs 100-62
                          Nats 99-63
                          Braves 98-64
                          Giants 98-64
                          Reds 93-69

NL was much better in just about everything this year.

Awards had some pretty bad choices imo

                          MVP
                          AL - Josh Reddick .254, 45HR, 137RBI -- I think Mike Moustakas was robbed he hit .305, with 40HR, and 134RBI

                          NL - Ike Davis .266, 43, 120 -- Again I think Jason Heyward was robbed. .294, 34HR, 117RBI.

                          Cy Young
AL - Marco Estrada 16-5, 4.69 era. No one in the AL had an ERA under 3.17. While NL had 7 guys under 3.

                          NL - Daniel Hudson 21-4, 2.73 era.

                          ROY
                          AL- Miguel Sano .264, 24HR, 87RBI

                          NL - Ryan Schimpf .259, 14HR, 68RBI. Imo it should have been Joe Panik .290, 11HR, 58RBI

And Mike Moustakas won his first Silver Slugger.

Biggest "surprise" is Will Middlebrooks. Forced to retire at the age of 28 due to a torn Achilles. If i had saved after the playoffs i would have quit and restarted. Not really a career ending injury.

                          Kevin Youkilis (37)
                          Matt Holliday (37)
Nick Swisher (36) Had a great you so idk why he retired
                          CJ Wilson (36)
                          Ryan Howard (37)

I signed Derek Jetter after the 2013 season. Dude is 42 now and enjoying playing in AAA.........

                            I JUST SAW A NO-HITTER!!.....pitched against me

It was Reds @ Cubs (me) and John Danks was their pitcher. Not sure why, but I just couldnt seem to get a hit.

Danks missed the perfect game though by walking 1 and hitting another batter. He finished the game with 7 K's.

I never thought I'd get a no-hitter thrown against me, so I figured I'd share my embarrassment with the OS community.

I got no-hit too a little over a week ago. How I forgot to mention that in my Franchise recap I have no clue.

COL used like 4 pitchers to complete the feat. It's the first time I've ever seen one...

Didn't exactly expect it to happen that way.

                                Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Decided to change it up this year and went with the Rangers. I'm playing one game with the #1 pitcher, simming through his next start, then pitching with the #2, simming through his next start, then pitching with the #3 (and so on). Makes it so I pitch an equal amount of games with each starter while still playing enough games in a season to both have an influence on my teams standings while still having the ability to play multiple seasons. I just don't have the time with two little ones to play 162 games anymore, as much as i'd love to.

Just finished the first month or so of the season, and currently sitting at 18-13 and 1/2 GB of the A's (also tied with the Angels). My lineup as a whole is smashing, with Beltre currently sitting atop all three triple crown categories (.398/11/39) and Cruz pitching in another 11 bombs as well. The two big signings of the offseason in Pierzynski and Berkman are both struggling. Both are down in the low .200's with 3 HR's between the two of them.

Pitching wise, Darvish is off to a great start. He's sitting at 6-1 with a low 2 ERA and a WHIP sitting right around 1. The rest of the staff has been solid minus Holland who is sitting at 1-4 with an ERA in the 6's. Nathan has converted all seven of his save opportunities thus far.

I absolutely love pitching with Darvish in this game, and I like the potential I have to pull off some nice trades with this squad(using the trade chart in the trades thread of course). I have just as much fun juggling the front office aspect of trades and scouting as I do the actual gameplay. I'm actually looking forward to the impending logjam i'll have with Andrus, Profar, and Kinsler at the middle infield positions. I'm not too keen on moving Kinsler to 1B, and given the fairly team friendly deal he has for the next few years at 2B, I feel more inclined to deal Andrus or Profar. They aren't making it easy though. Currently, Andrus is sitting around .300 with an OBP nearing .400 and 8 SB, and Profar is absolutely raking in AAA. I'm thinking my best option may be to bench Gentry if he continues to struggle (barely above the mendoza line), move Berkman to RF, Kinsler to 1B, and call up Profar to man the middle infield with Andrus. I'd rather not have geriatric Lance patrolling the corner outfield, but if it means getting Profar's bat in the lineup later in the season, than I may go through with it.

Either way, i'm looking forward to how this franchise plays out. Minus Beltre, there aren't really any horrible contracts I have to deal with. And if he can continue hitting the way he has and keep playing gold glove defense at 3B for a couple more years, it might make the 25+ million a year slightly easier to swallow. I'm definitely glad to have Darvish and Harrison locked up at the 1 and 2 spots in the rotation for multiple years.
