    Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

In my Cinci 'chise after year 1 and missing the playoffs losing in the play in game vs the braves we made a massive splash in the offseason market. We signed Jon Lester to a 5 year/ 45 mil contract, and in his first game in cinci he matched up against Clayton Kershaw. The game was incredible, I thought Mo had the best cutter in the game, but Lester was absolutely dealing. 8 Ip 3 H 1BB 13 K. Lester was dirty with the cutter, the slurve, getting 8 of the 13 K's on those pitches, I think this might be the year we go to the WS.

The Yankees started a 4 game set at Cleveland. Taking a quick 4-0 lead through 2 innings the good times did not hold up as Kuroda lasted till 2 outs in the 6th and the flood gates opened.

David Phelps came in and could not hold a 4-3 lead and the Yankees bullpen gave way to a 6-5 Indians win.

      Game two is tonight.

In player news short stop Derrick Jeter was seen pre-game taking some light infield and batting practice. Jeter is not expected back till the fist week of May. Eduardo Nunez has been very solid in the Captains absence and if he keeps it up will demand some playing time even when Jeter returns. Travis Hafner is also just tearing the cover off the ball early on.

The Yankees will have some interesting roster decisions to make when Tex and Grandy return sometime in June.

Has anybody ever gotten anything other than a 10% budget increase? I thought it was supposed to be based on performance. I did one where I finished last in the mlb, and one where I won my division and made the playoffs. In both of them I ended up getting a 10% budget increase. It just seems unrealistic to me.

Son of a biscuit eating bulldog.

Played a series at Colorado. Thought my sliders were broke. These dudes were smashing doubles and HRs like no ones business.

          Took game 3 though .

Cano is on 15 game hitting streak. Woooo

I absolutely LOVE playing in Colorado. The way the ball jumps off the bat is unreal.

Just played a game, both teams had like 15 hits a piece, so many doubles and few home runs. Talk about offense.

              Looking for help fellas....

BoSox just put Dempster on optional assignment waivers. Would you pull the trigger and claim him?

I play as the Cardinals and my rotation is:

              Dallas Braden (FA Signing)
              Adam Wainwright
              Jaime Garcia
Shelby Miller (called up after Carpenter struggled)
              Lance Lynn

                Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

The Yankees just put Derek Jeter and Andy Pettite on Optional Assignment Waivers after their deal with the ChiSox.

                Yanks got:
                SP - John Danks
                RP - Jim Miller
                3B - Jeff Keppinger

                ChiSox got:
OF - Mason Williams (A potential prospect)

I am not that surprised that the Yanks sent Pettite down because he started there, but its weird seeing Jeter being shipped to the minors.

Does anyone have tips for sticking with a franchise? It happens to me every year where I start one but then after 10 games or so I want something different so I start another then another then another and I never stick to one... I think it's mostly because I get bored of the uni's or stadium (not players since I do fantasy draft) or I will just play a team in my franchise and then be like "Hey, I want to be them!"

Have you thought about starting up a franchise, turning all the roster management decisions to CPU, and then playing the games you want to play each day?

Say like you can play the "games of the day" or do like games that would be on ESPN Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday night baseball, MLB Network's weekly games(forget what nights they do) and then Fox Saturday baseball.

Yeah that could be fun but I really love managing my own team and playing as one team, but I just always seem to get burnt out from that team if it makes sense...

I might just start one right now and tell myself that no matter what I can't do another. If I get far enough into the season I shouldn't want to switch due to all the time I've put into it. Thinking maybe Friars, Cards, or Rockies ( Wish their black alt was correct :/ ).

You could also do one American League team and one National League team. That way you get to visit every stadium in the game.

That's a pretty damn good idea. Might do it myself.

So I played a quick exhibition game as the Cards and Busch stadium looks really nice and in the NL central I'll get to play at Wrigley and PNC so I went with them. Fantasy draft like always and my core is Bumgarner, Josh Hamilton, Adam Jones and Ian Kennedy. Hopefully I can stick with it!

Anyone know if cold weather early in franchise has an effect on power? I've crushed some balls in fairly cold games that would normally go out in an exhibition game that just die at the track. Have seen it happen to the cpu a bunch too.
