The Nats opened the 2013 season with a 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. Ace Stephen Strasburg went 6 strong innings, giving up 2 earned runs while striking out 6. Danny Espinosa hit the first home run of the season for Washington in the victory.

        Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Playing various matchups in a franchise for variety. Had two notable games recently:

Using the Mets' Matt Harvey, I had a no-hitter for 8 1/3 inning vs. the Padres before it was broken up with a base hit up the middle (forgot who got the hit, I think it was a pinch-hitter). I kept Harvey in a couple of batters too long, the bullpen failed and I lost 3-1. Great thing about it, I didn't feel cheated. I felt like I got what I deserved for not pulling him immediately after the no-hitter was broken up.

Then, I get my first-ever three-homer game, and it's with Kendrys Morales of the Mariners in a 13-3 win over the White Sox at U.S. Cellular. He two hit from the left side and then the third one from the right side. I love the feeling of turning on a fastball. King Felix pitches three perfect innings and goes seven strong.

I love the varied experiences you get from game to game.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

Kansas City Royals - 2014 - ALCS / World Series / Off Season update

The Kansas City Royals have advanced to the World Series for the first time in 29 years. Beating the Los Angeles Angels in 6 games. The offense wasn't as good as it was in the ALDS. But the pitching was just as good if not better.

Hosmer cooled way off going 4 for 26 in the series. But Butler made up for it in a big way. He went 12 for 24 with 7 RBI. Our offense has been far better than anyone else this postseason. We have a team AVG of .319 through 10 games. 60 points more than Washington. And hitting 34 doubles. (This could be a slider issue. Ive never hit like that before the playoffs. Might be getting used to it and need to bump up to HOF).

Decided to sim the WS due to the possible OP offense i had. Then stupidly advanced to the off season so i cant see stats. But i can confirm that on November 5th. The Kansas City Royals will be having a parade to celebrate their 2014 World Series Championship! We beat the Nats in 4. After they beat the Brewers in 4 in the NLCS.

            Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Just had an amazingly fun game. Playing as the Orioles. Game one of the Dodgers series, they have Kershaw going. He was lights out. 8 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 10 Ks. Going into the bottom of the 9th I'm down 7-1. Feeling bad, that I couldn't get into the Dodgers bullpen. Well the 9th inning was awesome. Single, single, 3 run HR by Chris Davis. JJ Hardy singles I pinch run for him with Castillia. Pinch hit Roberts for Flaherty, who rips a double down the line to make it 6-5. Roberts steals 2nd and then is driving home by Machado. All in all, LA needed to use 4 pitchers to get out of the 9th. I ended up losing the game in the 10 th, but it was a super fun game. I was just going through the motions to start the 9th, but I got serious real quick.

              Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

*** ****, just played a LONG game w/ Tampa. I was up 1 in the 9th, but managed to blow the save. Couldn't score in the bottom, sadly. I subbed in Farnsworth, and he was killin' the Indians for 3 innings, but then it all went to hell. It was probably my fault for leaving him in for too long. Anyway, top of the 13th, and I allowed a leadoff walk to the worst player possible on the Indians, Jason Kipnis. The next batter hit what should've been a double-play ball, but I completely messed up and was too late with my throw to 2nd, and Reynolds was safe at 1st. Struck out the next batter, then subbed in Oviedo. Kipnis stole 3rd, so it was a man on 1st and 3rd. I thought I was done. Much to my surprise, I managed to strike out both Aviles and Stubbs to get out of the inning. Was held scoreless in the bottom of the frame, and Oviedo did the same to Cleveland in the top of the 14th. First man up in the bottom of the 14th is none other than Evan Longoria, who hits a walk-off homer for the win!

I was just happy to get the game over with, tbh. It took right around 2 hours...

Kansas City Royals - 2015 - Spring Training Update

A new year is upon us. The Kansas City Royals look to build on their championship year. There were 3 questions going into spring training. 1, Who would be the 5th starter? 2, Who would play 2nd? 3, What would we do with Bubba Starling?

Danny Duffy won the 5th spot posting a 1.50 ERA in 3 starts. Competing with 5 other players. He beat out Nathan Adcock, Jeremy Guthrie, Felipe Paulino, and Kyle Zimmer. Nathan Adcock was moved to the pen as a long reviler. All the other were moved to the minors.

Irving Falu and Christian Colon won the 2nd base job. Falu vs lefties. Colon vs righties. They competed with Chris Getz who made the roster as a back up.

Bubba Starling did great in his first spring training. Hit over .375 with a homer and 10 RBI. But with Lorenzo Cain in center. Gordon in left. And Dyson / Francoeur splitting time in right. I had no choice but to send him down. If at any point Dyson / Frenchy struggle. He will be called up.

                  2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

So I just picked this game up so now it's time to start my franchise just not sure what team to choose. I'm undecided between three teams; Cleveland, Houston & San Diego. I want to choose a team that has no true star player to build a team around and that will take some serious work to turn into a contender. I'll probably end up using Houston.

I'm considering to start a San Diego Padres franchise. Anybody got some advices what to do with them and what would be a realistic goal for the first season with their current roster?

Kansas City Royals - 2015- April Update

April was a bad month. Jarrod Dyson went down with a Torn MCL. He was by far our fastest player. was hitting .372 with 1 HR, 4 RBI adn already had 13 SB through 14 games. He will most likely try and retire after the season. Which i will not allow.

Aside from the injuries. Our record is 12-11. 2 games back. Our Bullpen has been absolutely abysmal. They have 5.92 ERA. And Jose Veras has an ERA of 15.88. They are responsible for 6 of the 11 losses.

So I ended up choosing the Astros. Let the rebuild begin.

                            Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Just had another thriller. Game two of the April series with Toronto in Camden Yards. Tillman vs Dickey. Tillman opens the game up by retiring the first batter. Melky Caberea gets a single, and then Joey Bats hits a 1-2 curve for a 2-run HR, then Encarnacion hits a solo shot on an 0-2 curve followed by Lind hitting a solo shot, so Back to back to back HRs have me down 4-0 after half an innings.

Dickey is tough first time seeing him and I go down 1, 2, 3 in the bottom of the first. Scrape together a run in the bottom of the 2nd. Tillman gives up another 2-run HR this one to Rasmus. I decided to keep him in to just eat innings after the first as I needed to try to same my pen for the rubber match. I score another run in the bottom of the 4th.

So its 6-2 in the 5th when I just go off. I had been figuring out Dickey and how to hit him. (If the pitch looks good swing.) So bottom 5, Roberts singles and steals 2nd. Machado reaches on an error allowing Roberts to score. Reimold hits a 2-run HR, Jones follows him up with a solo shot, and Davis follows that up with a solo shot of his own. PAYBACK!!! 5th ends tied at 6. Toronto scores a cheap run in the 7th on a swinging bunt with two outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd, which gives them the lead 7-6. I get it back in the bottom of the 7th when Jones hits another solo HR, his 2nd of the game enroute to a 4 for 4 game. Add another run in the 8th and Johnson shuts the door on them with a play at the plate and I win 9-7.

So my Orioles are currently at 14-6 with a 2.5 game lead over the Blue Jays going for the sweep and thier 5th win in a row on the last game of the home stand.
