    Phillies Fantasy Draft Franchise
    • 1B/OF Chris Carter and IF Kyle Seager were optioned to Triple-A. C Tony Cruz was designated for assignment and 1B/OF Tyler Moore, 3B/2B/OF Todd Reyes, and OF Ryan Sweeney were recalled from the minors.

Seager had batted .200 with just 1 home run and 5 RBIs in 85 AB off the bench. Carter didn't impress either in a brief stint, hitting no HRs and just 3 hits in 18 at-bats. Moore replaces Carter in the first base/outfielder role while Sweeney will be an extra OF alongside Schierholtz. Reyes hit .267/7/26 in Lehigh Valley and will patrol the infield with Ruben Tejada. It's unclear who will backup Rob Brantly now after Cruz struggled to a .186/0/5 line in 59 AB.
      ================================================== ======
The MLB Draft has arrived and the club is considering plenty of options with their 14th pick. Team scouts have noted that we are thin at C, RP, CP, and LF. We're apparently balanced in the SP department and otherwise the infield and outfield is deep.

    • Here's some of the top prospects we're looking at (at least considering which have the most accurate reports):

      SS Spencer Tonis (20 yrs old, 2019 ETA, 54/91 ovr/pot) - 58 con, 43 pow, 83 spd, 65 fld, 73 arm
      LF Larry Coley (21, 2019, 56/91) - 80 con, 54 pow, 40 spd, 47 fld, 57 arm
      CF Allan French (22, 2018, 58/98) - 63 con, 47 pow, 99 spd, 63 fld, 76 arm
      SS Steve Rubio (20, 2020, 50/97) - 62 con, 47 pow, 79 spd, 70 fld, 70 arm
      CP Prince Perez (21, 2015, 67/94) - 56 vel, 93 ctrl, 93 mov, 67 makeup
      SP Jesus Gomez (19, 2017, 60/96) - 69 vel, 66 ctrl, 89 mov, 61 mkup
      C Darryl Pullicin (22, 2017, 61/96) - 71 con, 57 pow, 19 spd, 72 fld, 81 arm
      SP Adrian Peralta (22, 2016, 66/91) - 89 vel, 69 ctrl, 85 mov, 62 mkup
      SP Eric Golson (21, 2016, 65/93) - 92 vel, 59 ctrl, 85 mov, 59 mkup
      SP Joe Taylor (22, 2016, 65/95) - 88 vel, 67 ctrl, 88 mov, 67 mkup

Also, CF Donovan Guardado is a target despite only decent stats (potential 63 con, 47 pow, 73 spd, 63 fld, 58 arm, 45 OVR) because the scouting report on him may not be accurate.

    • Those without accurate reports:

      RP Ben Valencia (19, 2018, 52/91) - 80 vel, 65 ctrl, 85 mov, 67 mkup
      RP Dwight Camacho (19, 2014, 55/99) - 86 vel, 76 ctrl, 69 mov, 68 mkup
      SP Jason Bates (22, 2016, 55/99) - 72 vel, 84 ctrl, 76 mov, 65 mkup
      RP Richard Cruz (20, 2014, 57/99) - 90 vel, 89 ctrl, 98 mov, 68 mkup
      SS Claudio Valdez (18, 2018, 48/99) - 76 con, 52 pow, 79 spd, 79 fld, 75 arm
      RP Greg Peralta (21, 2014, 56/99) - 91 vel, 89 ctrl, 97 mov, 66 mkup
      RF Alex Sandoval (22, 2017, 53/99) - 70 con, 65 pow, 61 spd, 76 fld, 76 arm
      RP Pablo Feliciano (21, 2016, 53/95) - 83 vel, 81 ctrl, 80 mov, 60 mkup
      RP Pablo Reyes (18, 2014, 60/90) - 78 vel, 81 ctrl, 84 mov, 65 mkup

Out of this list, the surest bests to fit look like Darryl Pullicin, Prince Perez, Steve Rubio, Jesus Gomez, Allan French, Larry Coley, Dwight Camacho, or Spencer Tonis.

      Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

      Phillies Fantasy Draft Franchise
      • GM Puleo has decided to move forward with C Darryl Pullicin as the team's 1st round draft pick for 2013. Rob Brantly is the incumbent catcher and the team reportedly feels alright with him there but they could do better. Pullicin is projected to have decent contact, average power, no speed, good fielding, and a solid throwing arm. His potential is rated a 96 out of 100.

      • Prince Perez was drafted by Baltimore at 22. Jesus Gomez went to the Blue Jays with the 8th pick of the 2nd round. Tonis and French are still on the board.

      • The Phillies have selected OF Allan French with their 2nd round pick, 14th in the 2nd round. French is blocked by Mike Trout in center, obviously, but could move to one of the corners when he eventually arrives. He's estimated to make it to the bigs by 2018 at the latest and his potential is rated 98.

      • Philadelphia's 3rd round pick is SS Steve Rubio. His contact is said to be average, with little power, good speed, and decent fielding + throwing arm. His potential can be up to 97 overall and he could come up to the majors by 2020. Meanwhile, fellow SS Spencer Tonis was selected by Kansas City with the 8th pick in the 4th round.

      • In the 4th round, Philly took 3B Glenn Alonso. Alonso's best skill is his contact and he's average-to- below average in every other area. There's a chance his fielding improves as he won't likely get to the MLB until 2020.

      • 5th round comes and we've grabbed our first pitcher - RP Edgar Silva. There wasn't sufficient reports on him but we took a gamble. His potential reaches the sky and his potential stats are as follows: 71 velocity, 64 makeup, 76 control, and 87 movement. Next up, we took a second reliever with 99 potential - lefty Gary Huntley. Huntley apparently could have 67 makeup, 72 movement, 76 control, and 67 velocity. Lastly, we took high-school OF Kiki Sandoval, who has high potential also but will take a long time to fill it out.

        Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

        Phillies Fantasy Draft Franchise

Let's skip ahead to September and September call ups. We'll round up the league leaders and awards at the end.
        • After Atlanta and Washington were fighting over first all year with the Phillies chasing them, the Marlins of all teams have claimed first place. They can thank the MVP bat of Ryan Braun for their comeback. They're 83-65 now and we're 80-60. Our wild card spot has remained and we're knotted with Milwaukee still, who are 81-58. The Braves are a distant 8.5 GB (71-68) so we've just about locked up one of the two wild cards.

        • The Phillies are ranked third lowest in errors made (58) and fielding percentage (.989). Our pitchers have averaged a 3.41 ERA combined, 2nd in the league. Their 16 shutouts is 3rd best and they've permitted the 2nd-least hits (1170). Overall the pitching staff was solid and they allowed the least amount of runs in the MLB (507). Their walk total was 383, second behind the LA Dodgers. Their 1151 Ks are the best in the majors plus their win percentage altogether is 5th (.571).

        • No team was looking to trade at all before the trade deadline. I proposed a deal for Joba Chamberlain but got declined and thought about a HanRam for Justin Upton trade but it didn't go through. In August, I tried to claim David Robertson, Mike Morse, Nelson Cruz, and Josh Johnson, among others. Everybody that was claimed were pulled back by their teams.

        • The September callups:
          SS/3B Adeiny Hechavarria
3B/2B/OF Todd Reyes (sent down earlier in the year)
          OF Leonys Martin
1B/OF Tyler Moore (sent down earlier)
OF Ryan Sweeney (sent down earlier)
          SP/RP Chris Archer
          SP/RP Brian Matusz
          RP Jake Diekman
          SP Kyle Drabek
          SP/RP Tyson Ross

RP Justin De Fratus was called up as well, but not in September. Addison Reed was having trouble at SU and Trevor Rosenthal switched places with him.

I ended up winning the World Series this year, beating the Nationals 4 games to 2. I almost faced the Tigers in the ALCS but they were beat by LAA, who I ended up sweeping. Also, the Pawsox suffered the same fate as the real life Pawsox, losing in the Governor's Cup finals.

I downloaded a 2013 Postseason roster set from the vault and playing out the postseason. I'm facing the Tigers in the ALCS, up 2 games to none. However in the NLCS its the Dodgers and Pirates. The Pirates beat the Cardinals 3 games to 1 in the NLDS.

            Phillies Fantasy Draft Franchise

The Philadelphia Phillies have won the NL Wild Card at 90-72, reaching the playoffs.
            • The Marlins rode the Braun wave and won the East at 93-69, we fell short at 3.0 games back. The Braves ended up 83-79, 10 games back while the Nats were 82-80.

            • The Brewers secured the other wild card spot with a 91-71 record. The Dodgers were somewhat near at 6 GB.

            • The Reds captured the NL Central crown at 93-69, Milwaukee was two games behind.

            • The Giants are NL West Champions at 85-77. The Dodgers failed to get a wild card at 84-78.

            • The Yankees have overtaken the AL East once again. At 94-68, they placed 1st; the 89-73 Red Sox and 86-77 Blue Jays took both of the AL's wild cards. Boston was back 5 games and Toronto was back 8.

            • The Tigers claimed the AL Central with an 82-80 record. The White Sox and Twins came close - 81-81 and 80-82, respectively.

            • The A's decisively are champs of the AL West. The Astros were a distant 10 games back (82-80) in second place.

            • The Rays and Houston were 3rd and 4th for the AL Wild Card. At 85-78, Tampa Bay were a game back of the Jays and the Astros 3.5 of the Sox.

Bumgarner and Zimmermann tossed clean innings in the 1st. Hanley Ramirez doubled with 1 out in the second. Rob Brantly worked Zim for a deep count and he struck out but Hanley stole 2nd. Utley grounded out on a few pitches to end the threat.

It was then in fact Zimmermann himself who got the next base hit for either team, with two outs in the Brewers' half of the 3rd. Bumgarner struck out Coco Crisp to finish out the 3rd with a man left on.

It was quiet again until the 5th when Chris Johnson singled off a Bumgarner curveball with 2 down. Daniel Descalso bounced the ball back to the pitcher and again a runner was stranded.

In the top of the 6th, Alex Gordon lined one past Descalso at second base and into the outfield for a single. Manny Machado then singled into center field and Gordon advanced to second. MVP candidate Mike Trout did what you'd expect - smashed a single to the corner in left field and collected an RBI. And shortly after that, Chris Davis bombed a pitch deep to right for a three-run blast. HanRam came back up and the barrage continued with another single. Joakim Soria arrived to clean up the mess. He did so by forcing Brantly to ground out. With Madison Bumgarner on a roll, this game looked in the Phillies' hands.

Brett Gardner stood in as a pinch-hitter for the Brewers, who hoped to finally get something going. He promptly fouled off a few pitches and singled right up the middle and into center field. Crisp went down on strikes again, this time he was frozen by a curve. Pedro Ciriaco flew out to Cameron Maybin in left for the second out. Yadier Molina stepped in and ended the inning via groundout as Garnder tried to steal 2nd.

31 year-old David Aardsma replaced Soria in the 7th and set down Utley, Maybin, and Bumgarner in order. With 1 out in the 8th, Machado slapped the ball down the third base line where Johnson took a stab at it but it got away from him. Aardsma was able to escape with no damage as he struck out Trout and got Chris Davis to ground into a force out at second.

Johnson made up for his error with a big double deep that hit off the wall in left-center field. Descalso flew out to right field, far enough to allow Johnson to tag up and go to 3rd. The speedy Jemile Weeks was the second pinch-hitter for the Brew Crew. He harmlessly popped up to third base. Coco broke his 0'fer with a single that hopped off the mound and into center field. Trout retrieved it but Johnson had already scored the Brewers' first run of the night. Ciriaco made it two in a row and then Molina smacked another hit into center. Utley played cut off man but his throw to Brantly was not in time. Bumgarner got sent to the showers and in came 25 year-old reliever Justin DeFratus. The Phils' lead was almost in jeopardy but luckily De Fratus was able to retire Mike Stanton for out #3.

Brayan Villareal was next in line in relief for Milwaukee. He didn't have any major problems and left it to his offense in the bottom of the 9th. They started to come through as left fielder Roberto Espinoza doubled down the line in left. Chris Johnson hit a flyball to shallow CF, not far enough to advance the runner. Despite a favorable count, Descalso popped up to the backstop, ending the Brewers' hopes of winning the Wild Card.

The Phillies sealed a 4-2 win - they face Ryan Braun and the division-rival Miami Marlins in the NLDS.

Started a chise with the Marlins, signed Grady Sizemore to play LF and Matt Downs to play 1st. Using a roster where everyones rerated and am having a blast. Currently 1-1 and playing the rubber game vs the Nationals trying to win the series!

Won the game and the series in extras, 4-3 after 10 innings. Had a total of 13 hits. POTG was 3B Ed Lucas, who went 3-5, 2 RBI, and a home run short of the cycle.

The Marlins (2-1) now travel North for a 3 game series vs the New York Mets(2-1).

                  Expected matchups:

Tom Koehler (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Jon Niese (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
Jacob Turner (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Zack Wheeler (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
                  Jose Ferenandez (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 8K) vs Matt Harvey (0-0, 2.57ERA, 9K)

Game 12, 2013 season. Erick Aybar hits for the cycle against Houston. It would be nice if somewhere afterwards there could be some notification about players' special achievements. I'd like to be able to see on someone's player card that they hit for the cycle on April 18, 2013, or that they hit 3 home runs against Toronto on July 12, 2016.

                          Re: 2013 Franchise/Season Progress Thread

Im 15-9 with my Reds in Spring Training, with 3 games left before the regular season begins. I have been playing MLBTS since 09 and this is the best I have ever done in Spring Training I think, usually I am below .500 or right at the .500 mark. This is the 1st yr I have actually had success hitting consistently with this game, without having to really tweak sliders in my favor. Oddly enough I am using the Hybrid roster wich has lower hitting attributes too, so Im very happy with how the game plays and sim stats are looking very good as well.

I do think Im going to bump up to the next level above All Star though, cause Im hitting better than the Real Life Reds do, and I like to keep things realistic, although I do hope I fare better than my Reds are IRL, this yr,lol.

Been a long time coming to get a franchise started as I had been waiting hoping the budget issue would be fixed, but sadly it didnt, so Im just going to have to live with it, and make do with house rules. I also had been working on editing some players to match more to what they are doing this yr, and Im OCD so its taken quite a while, cause I went thru the minors as well to get things a little more accurate to this yr.

Once I finish ST'ing up I will start a new chise with 25 man rosters set as of opening day, with lineup/rotations, and have all injured players in A ball. I always follow real life injuries and transactions, so it should be quite a challenge to win with my Reds with all the injuries we have had this yr. Hopefully I fare better than they are, and my 3rd base coach is smarter than the Reds Steve Smith is at sending runners home We'd probably have a couple more wins anyway if it werent for our 3rd base coach, and to think some thought Mark Berry was a bad 3rd base coach, lol.
