great find. I noticed this too. I only pitch and when it is the 9th inning and two outs, I switch to the cpu quick and have them steal the base, while I let myself throw a strike and control the cpu batter so he does not swing.

I tried this and noticed it also, mr. jeezy. I looked in the game log and I think it did not mention anything.

So even though I've known about it for at least the past two years, I just got burned on using up my bench and having guys out of position, because we STILL cannot swap defense positions once you use up the last bench player.
I got stuck with Pedroia catching & Saltalamachia in LF for 3 extra innings.

Has SCEA ever acknowledged this?

Such a seemingly 'simple' flaw to fix in a great game that deals nicely with a lot of other rules to follow.

I don't think it's something that can be tracked (no clue if it is in real life either), but if you are down big late and steal a base the CPU catcher doesn't throw down and your player isn't credited with a stolen base in the box score. Forgot to check the game log to see if it was mentioned...

I JUST finished a game and did this twice in the 12th inning, down 5, but also forgot to check the boxscore!

I didn't realize it was "new."

I get severely irked by the lack of urgency on some of the fielding plays. Can be frustrating at times.

For me. Sometimes the players seem to go into slo-mo. Just had a play where the cpu had a tapper that the catcher field and the whole animation took way too much time than it should have allowing the batter to be safe. Doesn't happen often, but when it does its frustrating.

Ok. I Auto Field so I probably can't be of much assistance (picture what you described, just on every play. I am bad).

I think urgency this year is the best yet.

Now, some plays still bother me though. Like groundballs into deep short sometimes cause the fielder to go into a momentum-stopping 3-extra-step animation, giving me an EASY infield single.

But otherwise, urgency throws are the best in 13 this series has seen to date, in my opinion.

I think its just a case of not being able to stop a pre-determined animation. I wish there was a way to cancel out of it when you need to hurry a throw. It happens sometimes to me when outfielders brace themselves against the wall, it seems to take them forever to get the throw back in.

I think its just a case of not being able to stop a pre-determined animation. I wish there was a way to cancel out of it when you need to hurry a throw. It happens sometimes to me when outfielders brace themselves against the wall, it seems to take them forever to get the throw back in.

Pre-loading your throw and taking good routes to the ball are honestly the best way to avoid this (though you'll never be able to avoid it completely. It's an animation driven system). Especially the former.

Turning off the throwing meter completely seems to solve a good chunk of the animation and throw problems, at least for me.

It doesn't fix everything, but it definitely improves things a LOT.
