This is some sort of competition? Look, players are for the most part not given attributes based on what they might do next year. What Trout and Harper do this year should be reflected in their attributes for MLB The Show 14. The attributes given them in MLB The Show 13 should reflect what they did last year, in my opinion.

I thought it was the opposite. Ratings based on wht will happen in 2013.

Trout should have better power vs RHP That was your original impression. I think that Harper will have better power numbers vs rhp than trout.

Either way just compare the year end numbers of those two. Trout sounds like one of your faves so i know you will give in depth Information , actual eye test evaluations , plus the small parts that give him character. Example : they tie in homers but trout put 4 in the upper decks. Edge trout. Plus I mean I'll watch it as close as I can. This will be a very exciting year but I will not see it all.

SCEA ratings are based mostly on the past three-year averages, with more recent years weighted more.

I do not root for the Angels, and have no vested interest in Trout. I like fishing and often go for trout, so when I saw his name, I thought he was a fish!

I don't care what Trout does this year or next year, unless the Dodgers get him.

some quick thoughts after a handful of casual games:

after the oversell of the ball physics last year, which did not deliver for me, this year is night and day.

bloopers dropping in, humpback liners, no mans land pop ups, dying quails, and everything in between.
splendid.
2.0 works as promised.

also, my first franchise game after OSFM played out reallly well.
Nothing crazy there right?
well I didnt touch a slider.

i drew four walks as well.

not saying i wont need to touch any.
most likely the manager and pitching fatigue stuff, but i like the idea of minimal tweaking.
plus thats what ST games are for.

anyways, all good so far.

oh also, freedie freeman dropped a soft looping end of the bat squibbler. he didnt even have to move. he just simply closed the mitt too early.
that, I liked.

Reds pitcher Chapman...holy molyyyyyyyyyyy! Does he throw heat! I always swing early and against him I was constantly late on his 101 mph fastball.

The more I play this game the more I begin to really appreciate the jump its made this year.

The little nuances and changes under the hood only start to become more obvious the more you play, and I've no doubt I have yet only seen a fraction of the goodies to come.


I've always liked previous versions of The Show, but this year is the first time I can genuinely say I am falling in love with the game.


Without a doubt the absolute GOAT in terms of sports gaming in my opinion, lord knows how great it's going to get on the PS4.

After not really enjoying the game last year and being terrible at it, I am loving it this year and am convinced that this is the greatest sports game ever made.

That said, there are a few additions that really pop out to me that could take this game to another level.

1. Historical players
In my opinion baseball is the one sport that is most in touch with its past. Can you imagine the potential this game could tap into with classic teams and players? Give us something to play inside those classic stadiums already included...

2. My player mode
This would be the ability to take over a current MLB player... Like RTTS but with a real player.

3. Create a team
I have noticed how awesomely in-depth the team customization options are within Diamond Dynasty. It would be so nice if we could create our own team outside that mode maybe even with Create a stadium. I would love to be able to replicate some college teams. Perhaps they could even do an online team creator like NCAA Teambuilder.

4. Situational or "Moments" mode
Basically I'm thinking of Madden Moments, where you are able to relive some of the top moments of the past or current season. Also a mode where you can set up a particular situation would be cool, like trying to come back in the bottom of the ninth.

This game is awesome!

Have no fear when it comes to Historical Players, there will be plenty of Grade A roster sets in the Vault in the coming weeks. Including specific years and Dr Sublime and Co's All Time Rosters. Check out his thread in the Rosters section where he has posted some screenshots - the faces are on point. The fantastic Historical sets is what steals all my gaming time every year.

I have the Turn Back the Clock: Post Season Replay 1949 World Series "set"(I say set only because for these early years it's only two teams...I will probably expand it to include the 2nd place teams for each league as well though) ready to go once I get back home.
I had it pretty much done...just some finishing touches.

Allie Reynolds....DiMaggio....Berra and the Yanks vs. Reese.....Campy....Newcombe and the Bums....

I love the difference you can tell defensively between players. Using autofielding and the NY Mets when a ball is hit to Duda in left field I always hold my breath. This is the first baseball game that I feel defensive subs are actually mandatory to think about. It is awesome

Also the misplayed balls, human like AI mistakes take this game to the next level. There is a variety among errors, balls take bad hops, fielders misplay angles, dive and miss, let balls drop, etc.. all that great stuff it adds a ton but it is just the right amount not overdone. I use Fielding errors 6/throwing errors 4 and it feels just right

Hmm...Ryan Doumit making like Mike Trout to catch a sinking liner is to me not a good thing, Doumit playing for CPU team. If that were one such catch in a game, maybe, maybe you could pass it up. However, he did it twice in the same game.

i have to step in here....and agree.
i was a big proponent of getting rid of the newspaper but notfor that half a**ed version of a replacement.
all it is is a ticker that has scores going on the bottom and supposedly milestones. the big problem is that it moves SUPER slow so you end up sitting there for 5 minutes reading nothing but scores with winning/losing pitchers.
something you could find easier in the schedule screen.

I believe that removed that for memory reasons. They are pretty much on their last legs squeezing as much out of the ps3 as they can and had to take out some things like that and the ticket prices/marketing feature for better physics and the other improvements.. i believe.. Im sure it will all be back and glorious in MLB 14

YOU were the biggest crybaby over that "outdated" newspaper remaining in the game.
I even think you said you'd rather see nothing than the newspaper.
