It's not ideal but you can make a second save to play out the spring training games, then use your first save to skip spring training. Thats what i'll be doing

The only old person I've traded for a good deal was Marmol (some generated B potential Relievers) For Skaggs Miley and a generated B potential closer
I hit a jackpot with that trade however skaggs is doing horrendous in my second year 6-16 even though he's rated 97

In mine he dropped down to an 88 at age 25...

That makes ZERO sense. Now I'm worried about giving anybody a long term contract. I figured Trout was about the safest bet in the game to be awesome into his early 30s at the very least.

Maybe some players have pre-set ages when they start declining/stop progressing? Just some food for thought.

Isn't that a good thing?... Why would you want every player to be a guarantee. I have to give SCEA credit they are trying to mix things up.

Its completely random, Felix Hernandez is still a 99 at 30 years old and he's signed through 2019 in my franchise. I just wish there was some kind of explanation/notification in the game, like an email saying Trout showed up overweight to camp or something like that... If we knew what the cause of the regression was I think people would be more understanding.

I think Harper is an anomaly. Players try to hit their potential. Trout is at that potential and maybe even past it. The system probably allows them to be at that peak for a set number of years before they regress.

Since Trout is so young and so good he is at his peak for 6 years then starts to regress. A ratings edit on him would buy time. Or some code that applies just to him.

I think the system as a whole is well done. Regression is a good thing. Maybe a little slighter hit than 20, like 10-15 and more random, but we want to see guys hit the "wall."

I guess I just can't see it happening that early to Trout without some sort of career changing injury. If that were the case it would make sense.

The thing I keep thinking is what ramone said before release. How some guys are actually well over 99 on their spreadsheet. And how a player can hit 99 overall with his ratings, but then you can crank them up even more past it, but his overall is still 99.

Maybe with Felix's original ratings he is well above 99 and even with the regression he didn't drop to 99 with his collective individual ratings (H/9 etc).

Has anyone tried simming with players that are way over 99 and then some who are on the fringe of 99/98? Sorry if I missed it if it has been done.

That would seem to make sense that some 99's are actually higher than other 99's. But I believe Trout was the example he used, so it wouldn't make sense for him to drop even to the high eighties, as some are seeing, while he's still in his mid 20's

I actually kind of like this feature. But, then the AI logic needs to be fixed. The AI needs to recognize that just because Jeter has seen his ratings severely reduced, that he is still going to be the starting SS for the Yankees, not some guy in AAA that is one overall point better than him now.

I understand the numbers might be fine if you run a sim, but if you aren't controlling the Yankees he will be a bench player, not a starter, based on AI logic.

Hardly AAA....don't look at the OVL for dictating the level of play a player is capable of. The individual attributes are more important.
Thats the thing. Guys are dropping in certain stats that they shouldnt. If Ichiro dropped 7 points in speed, ok understandable. But why should his contact ratings drop. I am all for older guys slowing down, maybe losing a little pop in the bat. But age isnt going to effect slap hitter except on the speed end. They will still put the ball in play a lot, they just may not beat out as many close plays as they start to slow down, and that making them a defensive liability as well. But ichiro, Jamey Carroll, guys like that should not drop 5-10 points in contact after spring training.

At the most he drops 1-2 points in maybe 2-3 categories, most of them insignificant (fielding, arm strength, etc.). His /9 ratings and stuff are pretty much the same in 2017 as they were in 2013...

But is this just a random case of low regression or does it happen each sim?
