Re: strikeout totals way too low is franchise
I think you're probably right about this and if this is, in fact the case then I think it should be an easy fix for SCEA. They could just patch the base value of that particular attribute. There may be much more to it than I realize, and in fact, there probably is. Either way if this is the case then we can just edit these numbers ourselves. The problem is quite simple (can't believe no one has noticed).
Players vision are WAY too high for some players... for any stats geek and someone who has been playing The Show for more than 6 years it was pretty easy to noticed. It seems like every 90 to 100 K's a year hitter is in the 75 to 80 vision range... which is BS.
Example:
Mark Teixeira - 75 Vision
Matt Weiters - 72 Vision
Cano - 85 vision (As a Yankee fan I know he should be in the 70's)
Zobrist - 74 vision (really?)
Bourn - 61 vision
Utley - 89 (75 to 80 would be more accurate)
Braun - 75 (Braun strikes out a fairly amount of times) 128 Ks last year!!
To put it in perspective... Andrew Mccutchen averages 108 strikeout a year and has 44 vision in the game!! Braun averages 115 K's a year and has a 75 vision......
Something must have gone wrong while the computer were editing these guys vision rating. Most players are right where they supposed to be, but the outcast that are supposed to be striking out 20 to 35 times more than the game projects them to be are obviously messing with the pitchers K stats.
Can't we even edit player ratings of all players during franchise? Worst case scenario, we just go in before each year in franchise and double check that no one has plate vision above 75. It would take a while but if that's what it would take, and it would just be once before the start of each year, I would do it. Just a thought.
Lastly, right now this all seems to just be speculation. Does anyone actually know if this affects simulated statistics? If I get the time I'm going to lower may players plate vision (on a bit of an extreme level for the test) and simulate a season. Then I'll check strikeout numbers.Comment

Re: strikeout totals way too low is franchise
However, with this line of thinking, wouldn't raising pitcher's K/9 do the same thing? It might be easier to do this. The only problem is that some players may already be maxed out. What's Justin Verlander's K/9 rating? If its already 99 then there's nothing we could do with that.Comment

no ones k/9 is 99 (at least i dont think so) im pretty sure the highest is in the high 70s low 80sHowever, with this line of thinking, wouldn't raising pitcher's K/9 do the same thing? Re: strikeout totals way too low is franchise
I actually implanted two 90+ K/9 players into my RTTS season, neither of them exceeded 200k;s in a single season. Infact the system removed a substantial amount of their K/9 rating after a couple of seasons.Comment

Re: strikeout totals way too low is franchise
We have season sims showing us the end of year strikeout total stats for pitchers being off, so logically there must be low strikeout rates of batters too right? I dont have the game till tomorrow but I will need to look at that. Can someone sim and check how strikeout rates for batters match up with real life?
It makes a difference because it would probably be much easier to alter the top strikeout batters K rates rather than adjust every single pitcher, and make it easier to fix in later seasons with generated players if you have to. I am thinking you wouldnt need to adjust every batter to raise the global Ks just a decent amount of themComment

Re: strikeout totals way too low is franchise
like i said a few pages back, I have fixed this issue with my edits. the sim stats and the human vs cpu stats are almost perfect. the pv and pd and k/9 and bb/9 edits DO NOT ruin the human vs cpu gameplay.
my rosters have overall k/9 of 7.3 (mlb avg. is 7.5) and the bb/9 is 3.3 (mlb avg. is 3.0) if there is interest in these rosters, i will upload them to the psn and post a mediafire link.Comment

Re: strikeout totals way too low is franchise
but does it actually do much? ive put guys k/9 in the 90's and they still finish with under 180 k (and kimbrel is the filthiest reliever in the game now that they are destroying the cuban missile)Comment

Re: strikeout totals way too low is franchise
Speaking of Chapman, what is his K/9 rating? In all the sims I've ran where K's are particularly low, he's gotten over 200K 5 times in 7 sims of the first year of a franchise. The other two sims where he didn't eclipse 200? He hit 195 and 187K respectively.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

Here it goes guys. Make it sticky:
The Number next to their name is the vision they're SUPPOSED to have, and players I didn't mention it's because they're good.
How I got this number? I got em from Last years game and made some subtle changes depends of how they did.
