Any general tips for a fantasy draft? Probably use OSFM v2 or the OS Hybrid rosters.

For me, draft an ace at number one. Then, draft 3 outfielders. That is my general setup, from there it changes.

I like the ace at number one, but completely disagree with the outfielders. You can get Harper in Round 4 and Upton in Round 5. No need to waste early picks on outfielders when you can hash out infield or get a franchise catcher. I usually go superstar/best available in Round 1 and then get my ace in Round 2.

I know I just enjoy it that way. Strategically, I wouldn't recommend it but I enjoy using teams like this.

Honestly, this years version favours offence, so if you want success your first 2-3 picks (at least) should be offensive powerhouses... I usually don't take a starter till the 5-6 round as any higher is just a waste... Get a Catcher early unless you don't mind being stuck with a rookie like zunino or d'arnard behind the plate... And be careful of your lefty/righty splits, it's quite easy to pick a few guys you like, then go to set your lineup and you have no power/contact against one or the other... And be sure to pick a big number contract like Kemp/Tulo, otherwise a few years in you might find your budget is too small... I usually pick kemp and swap him for trout, frees up about 20mil in cap space...

              Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

Wanted to try a Fantasy Draft with the new OSFM Hybrid set. It's a lot harder to fill the team with A-Prospect, as most of them have been re-rated, and with some vets with lower OVR, the good young players are higher on the list.

I think I still did fairly good...nothing exceptional, but a solid base on which I can build my franchise. Here's my complete depth chart.

              CLEVELAND INDIANS STARTERS
              LHP - J.Santana

                Mat Latos
                Homer Bailey
                Wade Miley

                Matt Harvey

                Bullpen
                Brett Cecil (Long Reliever)
                Trevor Rosenthal
                Dixon Llorens
                Rex Brothers
                Bruce Rondon
                Aaron Crow
                Ryan Cook (Closer)

                Starting Lineup
                1. Starling Marte (CF)
                2. Oscar Taveras (RF)
                3. Bryce Harper (LF)
                4. Giancarlo Stanton (DH)
                5. Freddie Freeman (1B)
                6. Salvador Perez (C)
                7. Mike Moustakas (3B)
                8. Miguel Sano (2B)
                9. Zack Cozart (SS)

                Bench
                Christian Bethancourt (C)
                Sean Rodriguez (UTIL)
Josh Harrison (2B, 3B, SS, LF, RF)
                Jackie Bradley (OF)

                Notable Prospects
                I have a bunch of A potential starting pitchers. 2 or 3 B potential catchers. 2 B Potential 1B. A few B potential 2B, 3B, SS and OF.

I got Latos, Harvey and Cashner in a trade for Kris Medlen, Zack Wheeler and Jon Schoop.

Does anyone else find that drafting an insane amount of top pitching prospects really easy?

I decided to stop my normal franchise w/ TB and do a Fantasy franchise. I had pick #14, and this is how it turned out. I'll be platooning quite a bit, as you'll see below.

                  Zach Wheeler (81 - RHP)

I like all the platooning. You have some favorable matchups either way. Plus the pitching matchups. You got gio for lefties and Harvey (who could go the distance on any random day ) for righties.

Care to share your info on josmil pinto ?

I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

Have any of you guys noticed other teams keeping 9 relievers and only 2 bench players in your fantasy drafts?

                          Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

Hey guys first post here on the boards! Anyway I have been playing the show since 06 and have always done fantasy drafts. I always drafted the youngest available at every position and done a platoon of trades during spring training to tweak my team to my liking. This year I did my fantasy draft and did my trades (sat for about 4 hours trading). I cant even really remember my lineup to start but my rankings were 29th pitching. 5th defense. 9th offense. 14th overall. Now I am first in everything but defense I am 5th still.

                          SP rotation
                          Harvey
                          Bailey
                          Cobb
                          Luebke
                          Pineda

                          RP/SU/CP

I will have to edit, I am at work and cannot for the life of me remember my relief pitchers!

                          Lineup

C Benito Morales (74 overall) but can steal and has a decent arm
                          1B Mark Reynolds
                          2B Josh Rutledge
                          SS Asdrubal Cabrera
                          3B Kung Fu Panda

This year I did my fantasy draft and did my trades (sat for about 4 hours trading). I cant even really remember my lineup to start but my rankings were 29th pitching. 5th defense. 9th offense. 14th overall. Now I am first in everything but defense I am 5th still.

Welcome! I think DeAza is a great option to have. He had a great defensive WAR last year. Lomo can platoon Reynolds perfectly Galvis is a game changer with his glove. So at least you got something there. It's always good to have that defensive sub for late in games. Consider DeAza to late in games to keep trout and the others as close to 100% as possible. I went with a strong OF this year too. Giancarlo , Marte in CF, Harper and jay Bruce DH/4th OF. Also be prepared to switch your thinking going from a Fireballer Harvey to pitching Alex Cobb. Cool option to have tho. Keeps the chise interesting.
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

Thanks man! I have always noticed that I am better at pitching so I rely more on the better players to hit with and deal with average to subpar pitching. Getting Harvey was a steal for me by adding a low 80s pitcher into another trade and somehow the other team wanted to give him up. I am not complaining though . De Aza has definitely helped off the bench. I guess also I need to mention while I am not a noob of the show I definitely was never great at it and I only play on Vet pitching Vet hitting and All star fielding. I usually win most of my games as right now I am an unrealistic 32 and 5. But all that matters is I am having fun and I respect the heck out of the guys who can play HOF and legend and have fun!

This thread made me to start another franchise using fantasy draft.. To play besides my other Angels franchise. I usually when drafting, I either get superb offense + yuck pitching or vice versa lol. But now with the OSFM It's going to be interesting. I'll post my results later
